You are suddenly confrontational without any provocation, start about the looney tune Marxist ideas and so on - that is agitatorial, demagogic speech without content, unprovoked, in short: ranting. It aggressively invites to mud-slinging, and it is you who starts it. Because the conclusion you answered to is TRUE. It WAS that way in earlier times.
And this is just one very recent example.

I called Marxism loony and immoral. On page 12. Christianity, capitalism, conservativism, and America had had negative things said about it the entire thread thread so it is false to say that my statement was provacation. Also, should not be above criticism.

Elodin, it's an unconnected rant - off-topic, irrelevant, zero value.
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Be that as it may, considering that I didn't post much anyway the last few months and having called it quits for the OSM with regard to what happened this week (feedback doesn't count), the hostility is somewhat strange.
It is somewhat sobering that Elodin wouldn't demand the ban of a fellow board member, and that the guy who does is a well-respected community member who, in my opinion, avoided one or another deserved penalty only because of "merits of the past".
Even more sobering - and this is a well-known movie scene as well - is, when representants of the law - and Elvin, I'm talking about you - are finding a couple of admonitory words for the pro-lynchers, only to express sympathy with their feelings and for the idea as such.

I really start wondering whether this board is actually worth the effort, arrogant snow that I am.

Hmm...

I think I see your point.

There is a reason why I never discuss Religion or Politics (except to trash'em, ofc) on ANY forum anymore. It's called the "OSM Feedback Thread".

Hasn't it been clear yet that people are so *ADAMANT* about there beliefs that they have no choice to either lash out to one another in never-ending, long-winded arguements no third party is interested in reading anyway or have a heated arguement with Penalties as a result. Otherwise is such a good idea on paper, but most people (myself included, fyi) simply cannot make a decent, to-the-point arguement... at least not without droning on-and-on about for *aeons*. And even when they can, the general head honchos jump on it an start criticizing it and we're all back to square one.

Otherside is just a bad thing in the first place. Case-and-points: the gazillion replies to this post, the numerous lamentation of the loss of QPs, the general incoherent rambling of some unspecified moronic troll, people taking sides to arguement A, others defending arguement B, posts like these to just tell people to STFU about it and of course the Mods making their excuses and constantly having to defend their actions... and of course having Mods on this forum altogether (OSM is simply unmoderable, as is everything that is only slightly "seriously subjective".

What I'm trying to say is: OSM is rubbish and a sheer waste of time. Get rid of it.

Nonono.

See, it's perfectly alright to post in the OSM as long as you don't pay any attention to this thread. I can't imagine things said about some of my posts in here at various points in the past but I just ignore the living crap out of it and continue posting like I always did. If I'm about to get penalized or something, someone'll notify me by PM and that's about it. Though no one'll usually bother to penalize anyone without a good reason, considering all the fuss that pops up about one tiny red star gif more or less (Elodin and JJ do seem a bit too concerned about their red stars for a couple of staunch anticommunists).

Just skip all the whining and b*tching and proceed telling your opinion in relevant threads about relevant subjects and you'll be just fine. Let these guys cry each other a river and all's cool.

In fact, I'm here in this thread right now only cause I saw some "What's with this hunt against Mytical?" comment or something similar in the VW and decided to see if any of you creeps have been bullying my favourite transsexual again.

All I will add here is about the comment of Haphazardly.  If you think I have missed a post to penalize, by all means HCM me.  I am but one person, and there are a lot of posts.  I can miss things.

Also, yes Elodin you got the jist of it.  Everybody can have their opinions on anything..Christianity, atheism, the price of rice in China.  The constant comments that people are 'lying', 'lacking comprehension', or inferring that people have a certain philosophy or belief JUST because they do not agree with you will stop.  Now.

Of course common sense must also prevail when posting about people, belief, and things other then posters also.  If people start talking about Atheist devouring babies, or Christianities all being secret satanic demon worshipers (for example) then yeah I will have to tone things down a bit.

It is false to say that I do such things whenm people disagree with me.

Also, I critisized the idea of redistribution of wealth as being loony and immoral and you siad I have to change it.

On page 12 my post was:

Quote:
Sorry, I don't believe in the immoral loony tunes Marxist idea that everyone should get a free ride if they don't want to work and the money to provide from them should be stolen from those who do work or who "have too much already." The government stealing money and redistributing it to others is immoral.

While I disagree that my statement implied anything about JJ, I have changed it to a wording that is hopefully more acceptable to you:

Quote:
There is nothing about the idea that everyone is entitled to the money they make that is "dark." I find the idea that anyone is entitled to a "free ride" from me by the government taking what I own and redistributing it to them to be immoral and somewhat loony. What exactly entiles them to live off of me? Other than my family of course.

As for my post on page 11 you did not explain what you find wrong with it and I will change it.

Now you are talking sense, Mytical.

In light of this I accept the penalty I got - I shouldn't have bothered and trusted the Mods to finally do their job, which admittedly wasn't that easy considering the history. That the penalty got deleted is probably an undeserved bonus.

Since it seems to have been me yet again who created a fuss here in the feedback thread, and since I reacted foolishly and overstated, and since some people seem to want to see me quit, I'll give Binabik the chance to get rid of me.

Ok, Binabik, here is the deal: since you are so concerned about the OSM, and since you are convinced that I'm one of the reasons this forum suffers and everything will be better as soon as I'm off, and since you came over quite personal and furious, I'm sure you will make a small personal sacrifice in order to do something for the community and get rid of me once and for all.

Drop your Binabik handle with all those red stars you collected, once and for all, and start again under a fresh handle, Son of Binabik, Real Binabik, Binabik II., Binabik the One and Only, I don't care, as long as you start again as a freshman here, and I won't post here anymore, not under the JollyJoker handle or any other one.
I trust the mods will safeguard the deal by banning both handles, should they appear again. I don't know what options there are to control whether a new member is in fact an old one, but I tend to honor deals and promises.

This is a one-time only chance, and the offer will expire in 24 hours. Take it or leave it, but no matter your decision, once you made it, the issue should be off the table.

A PS: If Binabik for any reason doesn't read this in time, someone notify me.

The OSM is NOT about 2 people only!

Everybody is free to read and write there. If someone can't stand the style of someone else, IGNORE HIM!

If someone is NOT able to ignore, this is not the place for him, just that simple!

Can we please tell Elodin, that comments like,

"It is utterly ridiculous to say that..."

"It is very silly to say that..."

are provocative and offensive in nature and can only lead to a more aggressive tone?

Once again JJ rides in with the claim that mean old Elodin is oppressing and provoking anti-theists and they are using love-dovy, non-provocative language and tyrant Elodin is being hateful. The evidence tells a different tale.

Shall we compare my "silly" and "rediculous" to language "the other side" has used in the thread?

[As opposed to saying other's ideas are] impossible, "Impossible. And nonsensical", wrong, "damn weird conception", an illusion, mirage, "this, by the way, is so glaringly obvious, that it is trivial to discuss it", "monosyllabic, fingers-in-your-ears answers"

"I'll echo JJ and say that Elodin's argument violates its own premise.  That's so obvious that I can't believe we are even discussing it.  In fact, his posts almost cause me to laugh."

God is a snowhole, God's actions are pretty clueless, morally spoken, it makes God a snow, "A streange God, who doesn't understand his creation", ect.

Let your points stand or fall on their own merit, JJ, rather than always seeking moderators to silence me. And certainly if you consider calling someone's ideas silly or rediculous provocative you have a lot of cleaning up of your own language before you try to remove "silly" and "rediculous" from the vocabulary available to others.

As a matter of fact, you can't argue against things like, "It's very silly to say", or "It's utterly ridiculous to say".
It effectively ends the discussion, because the only thing left to say is something like, "look who's talking" - and that's a friendly way to say it.

I also am no "other side". To hold me responsible for everything anyone says you don't like, is disrespectful against me; you could think you are on a crusade against the "unbelievers" and not interested in friendly talk with a couple of people. After all, I don't hold you responsible for anything stupid people say who happen to agree with you in this or that respect.

Let me add something about me "seeking the moderators to silence you". Is your talk limited to telling others how ridiculous and silly it is, what they say? I address the moderators because it's the right thing to do, because it helps pinpointing what is wrong on this board.

The first instance says that a statemtent is dumb. The second instance says a person is dumb. Saying an idea is dumb or good or wise or foolish is describing the idea and is not praising or attacking the person who put forward the idea. Saying a person is dumb is attacking the person.

I am not on a crusade. It is you who is seeking moderator action against me as you have done often in the past.

Nothing I have said has been unfriendly. Are you claiming friends never call the ideas of their friends silly?

Also, I have nothing against unbelievers. All believers were once believers.

I did not say you said everything I quoted, I said the "other side" of the debate did.

The facts are:
1) Some of the things I quoted you did say. Like "Impossible. And nonsensical."

You feel free to say nonsensical and yet object to me saying silly or ridiculous.

2) You did not object to the things I quoted because they were said by people you agree with, while condemning me for calling an idea silly or ridiculous.

3) I called an idea silly. Silly is an adjective that I applied to a silly idea. I did not call any person silly or ridiculous.

If you can't stand for your ideas to be subject of criticism perhaps discussing serious topics is not the best thing for you to do. Having stress in your life whenever someone says one of your ideas is silly can't be good for your physical or mental health. Chill.

What's the matter, mods, another case of constriction of judgement?

Is it so difficult? Do we want to discuss next week whether it is just ok to start a post with "It is very silly to say", while a short "It's moronic to say" or a concise "It's lunatic to assume" or a more poetic "It's benighted to claim" is off limits?

I would say that such phrases serve no constructive purpose and can only alienate others.
