I'm not quite sure what I want... If the game's good, and it still has the all gamers (Sandro, Gem, Luna, Crag Hack, please tell me if I missed any), pluss some of my other favourites (Yog, Solmyr, Lord Haart, Christian, Thant, Gelu (if the game's after hommiv he would need a good reason to be in), Halon, the old Ironfists and so on...), I won't care too much about what time it's in.

And the thing about it being wrong to put hommv before some earlier games, it's not, lots of people do it

This is a repost of Marelt's QP winning story from his The Octagon thread.

I personally like it the best out of all proposals

After establishing an Empire on and around the Gold Sea, the faction of Chaos send out scouts to search for more riches and territory worth conquering. During one of these searches, a scout, named Rinuem found a cave in a large mountain range. This was many miles south of the borders of Great Arcan. Out of pure curiosity, Rinuem, who also possesed some knowledge of the forces of Chaos, started searching the cave. During this search, he found an underground dome, the size of a medium-sized country. This cave was swarming with huge insects of incredible power. In fear of his live, Rinuem fled.

In Great Arcan, a young female mage, named Theria, was accused of the murder of a high member of the government. This accusation was false, but she had many enemies due to her continious preaching that it was not wise to anger the forces of nature. Her power in the magic of Order was stronger than many thought and she was able to disappear from the country before the Guards of Order managed to capture her. She fled to the south and happened to encounter Rinuem. After some talking, they quickly became friends.

Theria managed to convince Rinuem to tell her the location of the cave. Rinuem trusted that her power in Order Magic would be able to control the insects of the deep.
In the cave, Theria used all skill of charm and mind influence that she had to persuade the insects to obey her. Eventually, they trusted her. Theria kept strenghtening the bond and the control. Eventually, she combined the Chaos Magic of Rinuem, her own Order Magic and the skills that she had learned from the insects to form the new Archaeon Magic. Rinuem lost his fear of the insects and he became their leader. The realm of insects attracted also other adventurers and rogue wizards. Theria and Rinuem trained as many as they could to use Archaeon Magic and to lead the insects. In the meantime, the organization they brought had given the number of insects an expotential growth. Soon, they had an army, which was equal or greater than the other armies of Axeoth.
Unfortunately, Theria's hatred towards Great Arcan started to consume her. Rinuem had always seen the Order Mages as enemies and he supported her in this. They both started to equip their armies to counter the powerful magic of Order.

In the meantime, a split started to develop in the countries of Great Arcan and Paleandra. After the accusation of Theria, some started wondering how much was left of the freedom that Emilia and Solymr had fought for. Emilia had not lived long after her near-fatal injury, Solymr had refused to rule and left the country. Lord Reed took over the rule (remember the squire Reed from the Emilia campaign, it's him).
He introduced the Reed doctrine which implied that Great Arcan had possesion of the ultimate knowledge and that nothing should be questioned or attempted to improve. There was no improvement possible, only decay.
Paleandra suffered the same problem. The priests argued that the ways of life had been indicated by the heavenly forces. It was blasphemy to stray from these.

No wonder that in both countries opposition started to rise. Lord Reed and Lysander Jr. (son of the old Lysander) imprisoned many and crushed several protests.
The Empire of the Gold Sea watched this all with enjoyment. Soon, both countries would be weakened enough to conquer with little trouble. The Empire was ruled by both Tawni Balfour and Cyrca, both old, but still capable enough.
However, they made the mistake to move too fast. Paleandra and Great Arcan united to stop the clash and many great battles were fought, where the Empire seemed to prevail, but with heavy losses.

The opposition in Paleandra and Great Arcan did not want both countries to fall to the Empire, but refused to help them either. They simply left the countries and united. This union was led by Lady Vemirin. Lady Vemirin tried first to establish a base close to the borders of Paleandra, but this in the terretory of the Elves. Since their towns had high costs in resources, they threatened to destroy many of the forest. The elves attacked with hit and run attacks and summoned their powerful forest creatures to drive the alchemists (as the metal focussed magi were called).
The alchemists fled both the elves and the battles between Paleandra, Great Arcan and the Empire of the Gold Sea. After a long journey, they arrived at a large mountainous land, which was not claimed by anyone, but on the borders of Nekross. The necromancers were quitely waiting for the end of the war to use their necromantic powers on the battlefields.

They welcomed the alchemists as friends and allies. Nekross was longing for a real ally and the alchemists needed a save haven. Both factions had many benefits from this alliance. The alchemists now started to build up their own country and forces. Many war machines were made to aid them in battle, but the bulk of the forces were humans, dwarves and drows, who were equiped with powerful weapons.
The drows are natives of Axeoth, who were driven out of their natural habitats by the elves from AvLee and Vori, who had fled for the Reckoning. They had hated the elves for it, but were not strong enough to do anything. After seeing the alchemists emerge as a powerful enemy of nature, they offered their service and protection. The alchemists accepted the alliance and many drows obtained ranks both in might and magic. Many of them were equiped with springsteel bows or enchanted blades.
The alchemists started to develop their own magic. They based it on their old magic from Life and Order, but they also took a lot of influence from the necromancers, who taught them how to use magic to hurt and weaken your enemy. The alchemists combined all of this in their ability to control the material world, creating a fearful kind of magic.
Lady Vemirin remained the alchemic leader, even though she was not an alchemist herself. Instead, she became skilled in using enchanted blades to fight and in the art to lead armies, like the knights of Paleandra did.

Meanwhile, the forces of Paleandra managed to hold on to their territory, thanks to the mountain ranges that surrounded their lands. Great Arcan, on the other hand, took severe blows and their people were driven back to the snowy mountains (Order should have more focus on cold and snowy mountains). There, they managed to build more strongholds and hold of the forces of the Empire. The Empire was actually severly limited itself and was hardly any stronger than the others.

Far, far away, on the plane of spirits, everyone saw what was happening. People started to search and create more powerful weapons, more powerful spells were used and larger armies were raised. According a the most powerful Talurin, named Plixum, this could lead to another Reckoning. He started preaching that the spirits had a responsibility to lead the material worlds to prevent these things from happening. Many spirits agreed and Plixum opened a gate to the lands of Axeoth. They quickly build up a number of strongholds (void towns), but those were located partially on neutral territory, partially on territory of the Empire, partially on the former territory of Great Arcan.
The spirits were quickly forced to choose sides, but they also realized that there strenght was no more than equal to the other factions. On ideological bases, they chose the side of Great Arcan. For a small time, the forces of the Empire were forced to withdraw.
The Archaeon followers of Theria saw the new spirit town as a following of the Magi of Order to supress the free people. They started to support the Empire openly and because they were one of the largest forces now, they equalized the balance again.

Nekross did not want to fight, but was dragged into this war by the scruff of its neck. Lysander Jr. of Paleandra had convinced the elves that Nekross was a direct threat to the freedom of the people. Gauldoth first ordered his undead to hold them away from the borders, but his army was small and was swept away. Fortunately for them, the alchemists kept true to their alliance and drove the elves away with their now sizable force.
Gauldoth and the alchemists renewed their alliance, which brought the alchemists absolute damnation from the priests of Paleandra. The alchemists would defend both borders while a large group of necromancers would take the risky mission to travel to the battlefields and raise the army of undead which they would need for a full defense and attack. The alchemists agreed, under the promise of a fair share of the total conquered land.
The necromancers lost some of their people during this mission, but raised a huge army of undead. The demons feared to be outnumbered in this way, but they were all brutally slaughtered before they could do anything and ressurected as undead (turning the necropolis undead again).
When both armies were large enough, the alliance of the necromancers and alchemists attacked, but their march was slowed by sniper attacks from the elves and barbarian raiding parties, who feared that their lands were threatened by the presence of the large Death-Alchemy army.

The barbarians were still under command of an aging Waerjak. They usually did not bother with other peoples, but the elves send envoys to their leaders, warning them about the dangers of the large army of undead and alchemic troops. The barbarians were never really friendly to the necromancers and agreed with the elves that they were a thread. Their forces managed to take down a number of their forces, but the alchemists retaliated with the destruction of the food supply by poison and flames.
The barbarians were now forced to take over other lands, just for the food. Under protest of the elves, they decided to raid the borders of the northern Great Arcan. This alienated both the barbarians and the elves from the Paleandra-Arcan-Spirit block.

This is where the story starts. All sides are more or less equal and all at war with each other or neutral. This is no longer a war between good and evil, but a battle for survival of the fittest.

Here's the 1st episode:

And so it begins...a story of adventure, might and magic...

The existance of men, elves, dwarves was grinding them, they wanted to be the only rulers of the Universe. The surviving heretics, Calid and Zydar, built an Academy  to train masters in Chaos and Fire magic. They hoped that one day, their succesors would punish the betrayors of their race. The Fire Demoniac Lords, Calh, Rashka and Marius began building an army so great for one purpose...to eradicate the world of men...an army composed of Demonic creatures: Pit Beasts, Fiery Magogs, ArchDevils Cerberi, Tenebrae Lords and Fire Dragons...

I have two ideas. They're not fully thought through, but if you are interested, just tell me.

First:
It's centered on Gelu and his nemesis Kilgore, AFTER the reckoning.

When Gelu and Kilgore clashed their swords, the world was destroyed in a big bad explosion, but at the same moment Gelu and Kilgore got sucked into another world and now they must cooperate to survive (and they still have their badass swords with them)

Second:
The main character, a rich wannabe adventurer that got all fancied by Erathia, develops a large veil that shields it's host against all kind of elemental damage, which allows him walk into the scorched once homeworld of Axeoths's inhabitants. The thing is, when this rich dude does enter the scorched world, it's no longer scorched. Now it's full of lush green vegetation and life etc and then they starts to rebuild in erathia etc then they start killing eachother once again - you know, the normal stuff.

Well, thanks for reposting my story, but I should point out that this is the older initial version. It has been changed quite a bit from this point to fit the entire proposal.

First of all, the Spirits were taken out of it altogether, since they didn't fit in with the other lineups and the town was composed of creatures with hardly any mythological background. The Spirit Town thread that I made at the time should still be around here somewhere. They were also removed because they made the sides of the conflict unequal.

Secondly, the Archaeons (I later dropped the "a" to make it "Archeons") are no longer purely insect-based. The lineup that the town had then is very different than what it is now.

And one last point. I see them so often, but I can't help to speak against them. Please, no phoney stories were all of a sudden everyone returns to the old world and fights with their old, suddenly resurrected heroes against the suddenly returned demons. The old heroes are dead. Get over it.

After all, in every installment of Heroes, there were new main characters. Then why can't we all of a sudden live anymore without the characters introduced in HoMM3?

EPISODE II : Gelu's fate

Gelu never managed to get to Axeoth. He was stuck in an astral realm, and so was
Kilgor. They continued their fight there, but without their weapons... The Armageddon's
blade and the Sword of Frost were destroyed and their parts scattered throughout the
Universe. Gelu managed to defeat Kilgor, but when he prepared to deliver the final strike,
a blast of magical energy teleported them to different planes. Kilgor was sent to the
lands of Axeoth and Gelu was sent to an unknown land... the lands of Kalimoor. This world
was full of forests and places that you could only see in a dream... Gelu wandered through
the realm for a few days. One night he had a dream... The Ancestors appeared and told him
that his destiny was to protect Axeoth against another catacyclism...They also told him to
seek help from Waerjak, the son of Tarnum. Portals to Axeoth were going to open for
him and his army in 4 years. Kalimoor was populated by Snow White skinned Vori elves like
himself. But they were almost extinct because they were decimated by savage beasts.
Gelu managed to organize them and tamed the beasts, which he had added to his army.
Vori elves were better than normal and night elves, so he trained them more efficiently.
Years have past and Gelu founded a great empire. He had a wife and one son: Myzreel.
His army was great, and consisted of Vori Elves, White Tigers, Gryphon Raiders, Wardens,
Fairy Dragons, Vori Druids and Bards. The day was coming...

COMING SOON: The Ironfist legacy

EPISODE III : The Ironfist legacy

After the Reckoning, the only Gryphonheart survivor was Lysander. He united and
controlled a great empire, the empire of Palaedra. He had a son, Mihael Gryphonheart,
an intelligent young man with brilliant battle tactics.
Nothing was known about Catherine and Nicolai. No one knew if they survived
the Reckoning and if they were alive. Nicolai (Catherine's son) had a child too, named
Andrew, with Adelaide.
One of the monks which escaped through a portal had an order to carry Andrew, the
succesor to the Ironfist throne. Prince Nicolai was warned by the Ancestors that
the Reckoning day was coming. He became ill with the death of his father, Roland, and
the dissappearance of his mother. He gave Rion the order to protect his son. Rion would
tell Nathan about his family and their destiny when he would be 18 years old. Altough
Adelaide survived the catacyclism, she mourned her child's death, not knowing if he was
alive or dead. Not even Rion knew that Adelaide was Andrew's mother.Nicolai wanted to
protect his son because he feared that the enemies of Erathia would kill the child.
18 years passed, and Andrew became a high priest at Rion's monastery. He had unmatched
wisdom and courage. The ruler of Palaedra was Lysander's son, Mihael and life was good in
the kingdom. One day, Rion decided that it was the time to tell Andrew about his family.
-My dear son, time has come to tell you about your family. Your last name is Ironfist,
a name of honor and loialty... Your father was Nicolai Ironfist...
-Nicolai Ironfist!? I thought that was just a tale... So my grandmother must be Catherine...
How come you never told me about this before?
-I received strict orders from your father. Your life might have been in danger. Nicolai
had many enemies which are still alive...
-I cannot believe this! You're telling me that I should rule this land?
-No. You are related to Mihael Gryphonheart through your grandmother. He knows about your
existance and he would be happy if you would like to rule beside him...

NOTE: Perhaps you are wondering how come the last 2 episodes take place at the same time, the
same year, how come Gelu spent 4 years to make his army after the Reckoning and how come
18 years passed in Palaedra since the Reckoning. Well, Gelu actually fought almost 14 hours
with Kilgor in the Astral Plane...but one hour there meant 1 year in Palaedra, Zymir
(the Kreegans' plane) and Kalimoor.

of extinction because of the many wars between the clans lead by Waerjak and rebels that
still believed in Kilgor. The rebellion was lead by Jabarkas, the eldest son of Duke Winston
Boragus, which died when the Reckoning took place. Jabarkas was old and his death was close...
When he saw Kilgor, he couldn't believe his eyes. He gave his last words to his people
trusting Kilgor with the barbatian horde's leaderhip.
Waerjak's spies weren't paid for nothing so the news arrived to him fast...He could finally

This is my idea, copied from my proposal.

Fifty years have passed since the defeat of Hexis, the War of Channon, and the founding of the countries of Necross, Palaedra, Great Arcan, and Aranon. All is quiet, save a few battles between the natives of Axeoth and the newcomers from Enroth and Antrigarth.
Queen Emilia is long dead, having ruled for thirty years, and now Solomyr ibn Wali Barad rules Great Arcan. All is quiet there.
Palaedra is ruled by King Milan, Lysander's son. All is good there too. Lysander retired and now searches for his siblings. High Priest Proetho went with him.
Necross is still ruled by King Gauldroth Half-Dead, although there have been several rebellions, one lead by Sandro, ex-owner of the Cloak of the Undead King and ex-vice-guildmaster of the Necromancer's guild. Gauldroth wants to create a new Necromancer's Guild. Sandro objects, insisting that they should collect the remnants of the old one.
In Aranon, all is peaceful. Elvin and Shaera are now King and Queen. Parts of the forest have been burned down. No one knows how, for it is protected by the Circlet of Clover.
The Forest of Aranon is being used for fuel of the Forge’s machines. Their leader, Jarvis Golemlord, wants to destroy Nature. He was the youngest son of Duke Winston Boragus, the old Barbarian ruler. He is jealous of Nature's power, and wants to destroy the world.
All is good in the Gold Sea, for Tawni Balfur settled down, and is happy with her results of her 50-year-old piracies.
Warjeak is old and dying, and announced a contest: Who would be his heir?
Then, one quiet day, there is a blinding flash. A gate opens. Out of it steps a demon. He is followed by many others.
Then, in another part of the world, another gate opens in midair. Out of it fall two ragged warriors, and elf and a human. They are, of course, Gelu and Kilgor. They look, and notice their swords are gone. They dash off to find them.
Finally, in Necross, Sandro steps into a clearing. He is surrounded by dozens of undead. He raises his hands and shouts. A gate opens, destroying much around it, except for Sandro, for he was shielded by the undead. Out of the gate steps out none other than Archibald Ironfist.

Campaigns
Holy Ward
Lysander and Proetho seek to find Lysander's family, while fighting through the zombies and demons. They are joined by Sir Mullich, who is searching for Nicolai Ironfist, who, apparently, survived the Reckoning.
Dragon's Bane
King Archibald Ironfist wants to defeat Tawni Balfur and get the dragons he needs to rule the world. He seeks the alliance of Necross, but Gauldroth has his own plans...
Ahoy There!
Tawni Balfur must gain the support of the creatures of the sea to fight off Archibald Ironfist. The creatures are lead by the Mermaid Aqura, who stuided Gavin Magnus's methods of controlling minds.
Kreegan Revival
Lucifer Kreegan did not die in the war of Armageddon's Blade or in the Reckoning. He must gain the trust of his fellow demons to conquer the world. Or… he might persuade them in other ways. Most importantly, he needs to break them away from Necross.
Elven Rule
Elvin and Shaera seek to find the cause of the fires and destroy their cause.
Half-Living
King Gauldroth seeks to destroy the rebellions, but first he must realize that he is half-living too.
Talk About Ungratefulness!
Sandro wants to rule Necross, and kill Archibald Ironfist for leaving after he let him into Axeoth.
It's Elementary
Zaeg, a young elementalist, seeks to control them all. Zaeg was angry that the elements joined Nature, because Elvin doesn't let the elementalists practice their dangerous magic. Zaeg later joins with Jarvis Golemlord.
Warjeak’s Heir
Warjeak’s Heir, Ferret, seeks to make the Barbarians respect him, but first he must gain the assistance of Craig Hack, who is not very willing…
Order is Crucial
Solomyr must stop massive invasions by the Necromancer’s Guild.
Bron's New Tricks
The Basilisk master, Bron, wants to separate from the Barbarians and become Lord of the Swamps.
The Machine Master
Jarvis Golemlord wants to burn down Aranon.
In the Land of the Inferno
Gelu seeks to find the Armageddon's Blade, before someone else does.
It's Cold in Here
Kilgore searches for the Sword of Frost. However, he's not the only one…
Doomed by Fate
All alliances must join to defeat a greater evil. Can only be unlocked after completing the other campaigns.

On with me story...

CHAPTER V: A former king

As most of you know or don't, Archiald was set free because he had a magical item. Without
it, the Kreegan Queen would have destroyed Enroth. Archibald helped Nicolai destroy the Queen's
nest... but that is the last thing that we know about him... Before the Reckoning, he traveled
to Deyja to start his dark reign. He wanted to be immortal, so he transformed himself into a lich.
He influenced Gelu to destroy the Sword of Frost, because he knew that the clash of the two
swords would bring destruction and chaos. Archibald's power allowed him to survive the Reckoning.
He could still live in Enroth or Antagarich, but... no mortal survived the catacyclism. He needed
human souls, so he started building a portal that could still provide him the power that he
needed and that could take him to Axeoth. He wasn't trained in the art of Necromancy so he could not raise his own minions that could have helped him.
After 17 years, he finished the gateway, but he was weak... the construction drained all his
energy. He walked through the portal... He arrived to an island in Axeoth. The island was inhabited
by pirates. He managed to influence the crew of a ship, turning them to undead.
He sailed to the Necromancers' Capitol and talked to Sandro. The necromancer didn't recognize
him at first sight, but upon a better look, he realized that the lich was Archibald Ironfist...
-Lord Ironfist !? What...h-how did you get here ?
-Surpised Sandro? Don't be... I am here to rule the undead for it is my destiny... Give me Mortis' sceptre and I shall spare you...
-Why do you need the sceptre... What do you know about it?
-I know that without it, you have no control over your minions... If you are willing to cooperate, I will be generous enough to make you my counselor...
Knowing that his power was nothing compared to Archibald's, Sandro accepted. He knew that Archibald was still maintaining a power generator in the old world...
-This cannot be! Sandro thought. How come he is so powerful? Ahhhh, the amulet... the amulet which he used to destroy the Kreegan Queen... he still has it... but where?
The Necromancers of Axeoth were lead by Nagash and Sandro, altough they hated eachother... Archibald was going to attack Nagash without making him an offer similar to Sandro's. The lich didn't need him, he knew about the hatred betwwen the two necromancers and that Sandro was more powerful than Nagash.
Archibald defeated Nagash in several months and he became the Grand Lich of Axeoth. He managed to keep his identity secret. The humans, elves and dwarves did not care about it because it didn't affect them in any way... or so they thought...

CHAPTER VI: War of the mighty

Andrew Ironfist and Mihael Gryphonheart began ruling their empire. Everyone was happy...but they didn't know about the danger that was threatening them... Waerjak, the barbarian leader, requested their help and they accepted. That was their second mistake, the first one being that they didn't bother to send spies in the undead territory to find out what was going on. Archibald was preparing to attack the humans. He chose his time perfectly, as the empire didn't have enough army to fight on both fronts. Mihael and Andrew were in a desperate situation...
One night, a cloaked figure demanded to speak to them...
-Who are you stranger ? Andrew asked.
-My name is Gelu, a former ally of your grandmother. I was the commander of the Forest Guard, an elite team of warrior elves. I am here to help you...
-I don't trust you! Mihael said. You could verywell be a spy...
  -Rion will confirm my identity...
-It is true...he is Gelu and he wants to help...altough it's a miraclee that he still lives.
-But how are you going to help? You have no troops...
  -Look around you!
In seconds, several elves became visible to the human eye. The snow elves could become invisible if they took no action...
-This is it? This is how you are going to help? Andrew still didn't trust Gelu, altough he was a high priest...
-I know that Solmyr ibn Wali Barad still lives. He could help me open the portal to my homeland.
-Squire! Send word to Solmyr...he must urgently arrive here...Hurry!
The next day, the genie arrived and he couldn't believe his eyes!
  -My God...is it really you?
-Yes wizard...your eyes do not betray you...
-Are you here to help us? Our situation is desperate...the undead are going to breach our borders in a few days...
-I need you to help me open a gateway to another world. Take this staff, for it will serve you.
Gelu, Solmyr and more wizards and sorcerors traveled to an empty land near the borders. They started a ritual...they began opening the gateway...The ritual lasted almost a day and the mages' powers were depleted. The elf walked through the portal and he opened several more gates near the main one. He came back, leading his army..
Gelu was going to attack the undead and the remaining human army was sent to the wastelands to help Waerjak...
