reply to some campaign questions

Found this thread the other day and thought I should make a contribution.  I'm going to reply to some of the posts, but can't be bothered quoting each one, so I'm just going to write it all out.

Beating Xeron in the third map is quite easy, if you use your main character.  The representatives can come in quite handy, so make sure you get one for each hero.

You have to defeat all the enemies before the Hell Barons will leave.

To get to the four final enemies, you have to speak to the respective creatures on your side of the wall that seperates you from that enemy.  As far as I know, you MUST keep all your heroes in order to finish the stage.

In the Samaritan campaign, after repairing the well, speak to alexander  and he will give you the herbs that the guy with minsc's protrait wants (the guy in the big hut).  After you give it to him, he will cast a spell to make most of the rogues run away, and the legion of rogues, will turn into a throng of rogues.  Defeat the throng of rogues (should be very easy).  Then enter the rogue building behind them and the tree will speak to you and the peasant will get out of your way.

On the third map of the campaign, the game sometimes crashes at the end of the week with me also.  Just load autosave and try again.  it has never happened to me twice in a row.

I haven't gotten to the necromancer campaign yet, so don't have an answer to the necromancer question.

I hope this helps.

I'm afraid you have to restart the scenario, because with only the peasants you are "too weak to demolish". And if you restart it, be careful, and don't let all of your ghosts perish. I had the same problem, I only had 3000+ peasants, I won but I couldn't demolish it, so  I restarted, and I was more aware, not to lose too much ghosts.

Hi
I know that this topic is abandoned, but ehh, I will post a new msg here.
So I'm stuck at the scenario In the Wake of Gods. I defeated the Inferno tower, but I can't make anything else there. the if I pick up the object which is located North the Hell Barons say that I'm still too weak, and bla bla, and when I go back to the Inferno tower, that turns into a place where I can buy War Zealots.

I restarted this scenario too, and I realized how lame I was .
I was only going with one hero, not with all of four . So I restarted, and fought very nice battles with the other heroes, and the finale was beautiful. 115 archdevil & 10 level 8 devil vs. 65 behemots & 120 ogre magi & 50 king cyclopes and a lot of hobgoblins, wolf raiders, orc chieftains. Of course I won, but it was very hard, and only 20 behemots survived, but it was enough to defeat Gronych.

Now I'm stuck on the Samaritan campaign, scenario 2. I've done everything I guess, I defeated all of the monsters, which I could, I've  learned the spells, but it's not enough.  I can not defeat the arch magis the nagas, the water elemantals, nor the medusas. I found the artifacts, but there is one the bird of perception is missing, and Kae the seer is seeking it. I've made a few print screens, if somebody can help me, please do it.

Oh no!That damn puzzle was so tiring...
Good that i have a saved game after i finished it!
P.S. Who knows where to get the 4 campaign? It says "File Zc4.h3c opens with an error!" and the link on the official site don`t takes me where i need - it takes me to the text and there`s no link...what is it? I am using FireFox.
I`ll write a walthrough for the Life of an A-d-v-e-n-t-u-r-e, but first i need to play it again and remember some things...

I reinstalled the WOG and 4 campaign works...however i am unable to pass with Armageddon spell, even thought i visited all things:when i try to select protection from fire, armageddon still destroys all skeletons(what a lame bonus...), when i get anti-magic, the monks almost always fire at the skeleton that was affected and finally, if i am lucky to cast the armageddon spell and not lose the skeletons, ONE SWORDSMAN REMAINS AND KILLS ALL MY REMAINING SKELETONS.

First of all, don't post the same thing twice, it's really annoying, and second, you're not supposed to fight the magis.

You need to collect 10 wood and take it to the quest guard guarding the boat.  The bird of perception isn't on the first island.

Once you enter the boat and move a couple of spaces, a message pops up and tells you to try and find a section with a small quantity of water elementals and run through them (fight them).  there is a stack with only a few water elementals (I think), fight it.  it should be easy.  You don't need to fight the rest of the water elementals or the medusas or the nagas.  And if there are battles on the following island that seem too dificult, if they aren't blocking your way, you can leave them until you are a bit stronger, and have a few more troops.

This scenario is very very long, save it before you go into the krypt to fight the ghouls, because I got stuck there, unable to go back up, as I would get a syntax error of some sort, and remain in the underground krypt.  If anyone can help me resolve this error, I would much appreciate it.  the message I get is as follows:

(first message box)
ERM syntax Error.
File: erm
Line: 3207
Reason:
"!!OB:" -wrong command.
Save all ERM vars to WOGERMLOG.TXT (may take time)?

(second message box)

(third message box)

A fix:you need only 5 pieces of wood, not 10!!!
By the way, did you found the hidden places? If i remember right, there was right above one of the huts near the starting town...
You CAN`T find 2 pendants of second sight. This is choice, like when you chose the elements:Tactic or Leadership?

You wanted the walthrough? I included everything, but subquests there.Try to find it yourself. And the walthrough isn`t full...

Take the boat and watch around. There should be a lonely ice elemental.Attack it, then continue moving(the sword and the boat icons will help you to figure the right way)and you will fight two Water Elementals. Finally, land on the beach, where you see a medusa.

What? You got stuck in the crypt? I never got such an error in the WOG 3.5

By the way i completed all the campaign. The final boss was extremely tough and if i didn`t chose the air magic(that allowed me to get Hypnotize! Right, it is useless spell, but in this campaign it is very useful. Just make sure you have enough spell power or wound the trolls and hypnotize them)i would lose.

Okay. When you land on the beach, you mustn`t defeat:
Ogres
Snarpshooters
Lizard Warriors
and Harpy Hags

You`ll eventually reach an empty outpost. Go right of there and follow  the road. Ellaam will leave you - but soon you`ll meet again. You`ll meet a knight, who will ask you to help with the camp. Better to not argue, as he will give you 100 coins, and later you will be able to upgrade your swordsman to crusader!
After you follow the road, you`ll reach Emokon and will have to pay 500 coins. If you don`t have them...well good luck trying to salvage some money from monsters without a party!
When you enter the gates, you`ll notice there`s a lot of the quests to do. But your priority is the "Subterranean gates", that are actually is a tavern "Smoking Corpse". You can take the Halberdiers and Archers there for gold, the others will demand quests that are harder!

After you wandered around enough, time for real challenge will soon come!Enter the forest to the north, defeat all undead there(don`t forget save) and restore mana before a big battle - the portal.

You will have to fight two forces of skeletons WITHOUT ANY TIME WITHIN THESE FIGHTS. After you beat them, save game, restore the mana and head for next pair.
Enter the portal...nothing happens.
There`s a big bad boss at the northEAD KNIGHT!!!Let`s hope you managed to get the Snarpshooter without big casualties...and don`t forget to restore mana before final battle!
The battle was very hard for me, but i somehow survived. And no, this is not the end.If you are low on troops, reload...an autosave.
You`ll crab a ribcage from the Dead Knight. Enter the portal again and you suddendly will be transported to the middle of nowhere...
Make your way to Necropolis without touching any massive stacks of wights. You`ll meet Ellaam(he died and the only way out is to defeat the necromant. But he has a good army! That lich...
After you kill the necromant, you`ll be transported back. However, the area is free from that evil necromancer, time to celebrate a brief victory!
Now you can go past the red borderguards. And, if you want another hot challenge - look out for the dread knight - you`ll get a crusader in the tavern!
I will tell you nothing about Rogues Cave in Emokon.
...don`t remember next...but then you`ll be transported to a hot wasteland to fight aganist barbarians. Make sure to pick a hidden artifact along the way!
After you kill the barbarians...congratulations!You are reaching the end of story...
The next fights are going to be hot, make sure to do everything you can do for now to recover mana and gain troops!
Now you should go left of the Emokon and make your way through the swampt to find out, who stealed the Sandals of the Saint. Beware of the knight(witch?)with 99 attack and defence will appear in your way with a pitiful army...
And before the final fight(the re hero) again, restore all mana.
Go and kill that monster by using all spells you got so far(i told you NOTHING where you can get advanced spells like Hypnotize - figure it yourself)and when you manage to defeat him - congratulations, you finally WON!

I don't know where I got but it's impossible to go through. I went on a subterranean gateway, and there are a lot of Ghouls, and a hero blocking the subterranean gate. I defeated all the ghouls, there were ca. 1 in each gap, but the hero has 3 groups of ghouls with 2-4-2 and I've got 1 sharpshooter, 2 magis, and 1 swordsman. There are several graveyards, crypts, mausoleums and pyramids what I can't visit. Should I restart it?

Mmm I downloaded WoG and tried those campaign but... May I be frank? This is not HoMM, this quite sux. There is always One single way of doing things, which is really discutible.
For example first campaign first level, when you have to leave Dan, I dismissed it in the place the crusader will come, and it didn't work, because I didn't know i could press the right button next to me and it would appear a garrison interface to leave Dan in. It was crap really.
just my opinion, but RoE campagin are much more valuable. No offence for fans, but this looks to me like a low-quality graphic adventure (with lots of bugs), not HoMM. If there is something better to do with WoG than those campaigns please enlight me

Mitzah actually forgotten about one thing in the 1st map of the "In the Wake of Gods" campaign:
Don't forget to visit the Thunderbird near the "Castle". If you don't visit it, The Gorinych will say "Hello Mortal, Bye Mortal" and attack you.

I have a hint for the second map: in the maze, try the following combination:

NW X 4 (Visit the North - West brother 4 times)
SW X 2 (Visit the South - West brother 2 times)
SE X 3 (Visit the South - East brother 3 times)

It will change the column which is most to the left into swamp. I can figure out an easier way, but it takes much time. If you're interested in my formula, here it is:

Lets imagine that grass is marked with 1, snow with 2, swamp with 3, rough with 4, subterranean with 5.

Then the maze will look like this:

13354
22143
31231
45423
54515

The NW brother changes: 2nd and 4th row by 1
the NE brother changes: 3rd and 5th row by 1
the SW brother changes: 3rd, 4th and 5th row by 1
the SE brother changes: 1st and 3rd row by 1

all those "by 1" mean, that they add +1 to every square in the rows, specified by the brother.

You can now think how to change the maze the way you want.

**********************************************************************

The mentioned above tactic is discribed bellow:

first, NW X 4, so we change 2nd and 4th row directly by 4 (instead of adding 1 four times)

13354                13354
22143       +4     11532
31231      =>      31231
45423       +4     34312
54515                54515

second, SW X 2, so we change 3rd, 4th and 5th row directly by 2 (instead of adding 1 two times)

13354      +2      35521
11532      +2      33254
31231      +2      53453
34312      =>      34312
54515                54515

finally, SE X 3, so we change 1st and 3rd row directly by 3 (instead of adding 1 three times)

35521               35521
33254      =>     33254
53453      +3     31231
34312               34312
54515      +3     32343

Maths are EVERYWHERE, so study them good.

I have a question about "A life of A-D-V-E-N-T-U-R-E"
First I would like to say how much I love that map...
I passed it like 10 or more times already so if any of you have any questions ask me.

So the thing that worries me is that at the beginning in the magic guild there is a seer hut that gives a quest to bring a Bird of perception. I couldn't locate it anywhere on the map and this is very annoying, becouse this is probably one of the two or three things I don't know about the campaign. Pls help if you have any idea. Thx
