This or That could be given a Qp, but then it should be closed.  It really is a word game.  It fits the basic style of a Word Game.

Pick A or B

Now Give an X or Y

Play Again.

sorry to go against the flow here, but i think neither of those should get the QP.
This or that is a funy thread, but the fact that is so popular is mostly cos it'sw one of the most accesible threads around and so people can write in there without fear of being called n00bs or so and cos there isn't much action in the library lately.
It's not the first thread of that kind, there were other trivia threads just as popular at one time.Sir Zapados had the inspiration of opening another one without being able to predict the sucess  his thread will have. This succes isn't IMHO his merit, but the guys that posted there.
About Mutley's thread: i don't think the info there is copy/pasted from somewhere(at least i haven't seen that yet), but that guy worked in the map editor.Still i have to disagree with Leo who said that that info was extremely usefull as those heroes are only for campains and ROE so not much of those in a usual game.
So the importance of that is limited.

I have nothing personal against either of them, it's just what i think
just my 2 cents

Well I have to disagree on both counts.
Sir Zapdos' thread, while it is a trivia thread is based on a simple idea that works very well. It's popular and a lot of people enjoy posting in it. If he hadn't come up with the idea then I think the Library would lose some of it's appeal.
It also has staying power.
While a lot of library threads discuss cut and dried stats, they usually become inactive because there's nothing new to post in them once the numbers have been crunched.

And about Muttley's thread. While it's true that not many people use those heroes because of their special nature - even if he did work in the map editor, he did it on his own time so that if I want info on them I can have easily by referencing his thread, not laboriously digging out the info. It was an effort on his part to make Library more 'Enlightening' and deserves a reward imo.

I just like seeing people get rewarded...

I try to keep a "what goes around comes around" attitude or I try to "do to others as I would like to have done to me". So, when I suggest other peoples' Threads or Posts for QPs, I do so not only because I think that they are worthy, but also because I don't see any harm in giving people a "pat on the back" every once in a while.

Positive reinforcement can really get people excited about doing things that are either time-consuming or labour-intensive. Also, if someone is told "Good job!", this does not mean that someone else did a bad job...

Basically, I am just pro +QP all-around!

I also think that SirZapdos should get a QP for the this or that thread. Without that thread, the library would not be as active. I think it is worth a QP because it made HC a better place. He might not have given a whole lot of info and yes, the others made it what it is now, but that does not matter. The effect it had on the community is worth a QP. I can certainly imagine alot of members (aswell as non members - those who we tend to forget) going straight in the This of that thread first thing when they log on. That speaks for itself.

I also think Muttley should get a QP for his thread. that is some great info in that thread and he still answers questions and will update it soon. That is some good dedication and worthy if you ask me.

There.... my 2 cents.

Of course you do bud….  You received a QP for a joke you put to paper regarding brain cells and natural selection.  A joke that has been around for a while but you took the time to put down in writing!  I’m not slamming your wish to share the joke, but going back to the issue, does an old joke necessarily merit a QP??  If so we should create a joke thread and just rate the really good ones!!

(sorry I don't have the edit post option)

I guess what I'm saying is that the QP's should be reserved for really unique or original ideas or statements!!

Is someone jealous?!

Just because you have heard a joke, doesn't mean that everyone else on Earth has also heard it! Sometimes sharing great ideas, like we did in the Philosophy over a beer Thread, is just another way of learning about different things from other people.

So, wether people are having a serious discussion about Politics (where they are just repeating ideas they heard on CSPAN or CNN) or people are just telling some good & wity jokes (that are either original or repeated)...the fact remains that the ideas that these people are sharing, here on HC, are of high quality & should be rewarded!

Besides, I would rather spend my time pointing out people's Posts that deserve QPs, rather than point out those that I think should have theirs' removed...after they were already awarded many months ago!

To me, it's all about Karma...and we can all use some good Karma! Right, Jebus?!

Ok guys...

I decided to give a +QP to both threads. There was no "hard" argument against a +qp for them, and there was not much other +qp-worthy material in the last time, so they are for sure under the best 2% of the last weeks..

I'm so happy!

I am not only glad to see people rewarded for their good ideas & hard work, but I am also ecstatic to see Angelito explain his decision to award the +QPs!

Even if he had decided to withhold the QPs, and had explained why he was doing so, I would still be happy. I find that when a Moderator explains their "decision-making process" or brings up logical points as to why a Post or Thread is rewarded or penalized, everyone benefits. The beauty of the +/- QPs is that they can serve not only as a reward system, but more importantly, they can also serve as an education system.

If people are told why a Post or Thread gets "what it deserves" , then they are very likely to take that knowledge and incorporate it into their Posts & Threads. This inevitably leads to improvements in the Community overall, and who doesn't want that, eh?!

Angelito, I applaud you for helping HC become a better place!

Thanks for the bonus.

I was going to stay silent until a decision was made, in order to remain impartial.

The only problem I saw with the whole thing was that even though I created the thread, the only reason it got so big and stayed so active was because other people were willing to participate and continually bring new ideas and choices to the table. I mean, the thread could just as easily bombed its way down to page 4, but it was the community as a whole who kept it alive (and me with an occasional bump).

Oh, and I agree about the other bonus given to Muttley. That kind of info isn't exactly easy to find, and it's indeed useful to players.

Cheers.

I think that Conan should get a +QP for this "Library Feedback" Thread. Although I own it (in the MYT GAME), I think that I should give something back to the people every once-in-a-while!

Good work, buddy!

P.S. You can delete that *bump* Post now Angelito.

I don't know if it's really QP worthy. Most forums have Feedback threads, which are there for the same reasons this one is here for, to offer suggestions for improvement, suggestions for QPs and occasionally, mod updates.

Even though Conan is a big contributor to the Library Feedback thread, a lot of it has to do with the ToC (to which he already has a QP). So I think a QP may be redundant.

@Angelito:Why did you move your thread about online gaming from ToH?

IMHO it was more useful there as the ToH site has a link directly to the ToH forum(Message board).

So maybe not that many people know about HC, but ToH being one of the biggest heroes tourneys site is more visited by online players, so newcomers who need help  could find it through that link(directly to your thread)

Maybe you could talk to Versuvius to make a troubleshooting link in his site directly to your thread(in whatever forum it is)

my 2 cents
