Changes to toh4? How will it effect gameplay an activity

Just got a couple of questions about the changing of Toh after hereos 4 comes out. I read the notifications on the Toh 3 and I saw toh 4 website but theres still a few things I need a lil help on, Especially since I'm new and still a plebe(dammit I need to advance so people will play me!!)
Well, first of all....
1.so when heroes 4 toh becomes official and the game is released will everyone rank be reset to ground zero? basically I mean, I know they said medals and stuff would carry over but that doesnt the players will have wins for heroes 4 from their heroesd 3 records right? SO we'll all be on an even playing field..to start at least then of course some players will advavnce but at least it will be easier to get a game in the beginning. im assumin' anyone will play anyone then.
2. If heroes for gets delayed to January or later will people start playing heroes 3 again and will they have another season? right now I'm not even sure if I wanna join a clan or try to achieve any knida rank if it gets released in Septemeber. but if it gets released in January and stuff like tourneys and curent clans continue I might actually give it a shot.
3. Speaking of clans will they carry over or will we just make new ones? I kinda like the idea of new ones cuz it seems all the clans are full now.
4. Just a queestion about this message board I know I can change most of my account info but Is there anyway to change my name, i just realized I spelled it wrong and just a few rearranging of letters would make it look much better,
I know my posts arent much since Im new but is there anyway to change without losing posts..?
%. How much do u estimate Toh activity will increase I mean on the zone there is rarely any more than 100 usually its between 40-100 but thats nothing compared to the other games even the stupid little free puzzles have thousands of gamers!! Although this is the zone seems to have the highest amount of players compared to other gaming sites, especially gamespy I still have troubles getting a game sometimes I gotta wait for what seems like hours.. but anyways im speculatin that 4 will change all of that
...well, I guess thats it for now I know I had more but It looks like I've typed up quite a storm!!! plus i can't remember what else i wanted to ask sooo.. please help and good bye

the reply

1-  All player records are reset in homm4 TOH.  Actually not only that, but everyone needs to reregister. It is a totally new automation, and a new server we are talking about; for example compare the player info page we have now to the one here:  http://www.toheroes.com/heroes4/info2.html
The only thing that carries over is the Veteran (Dragon, Wyvern Icons -- which essentially represents your ranking at end of each of the three seasons (if you were lieutenant or higher).

2- I went to Electronics boutique yesterday, and they said release of November 11th to preorder.  I believe them.  It aint being released in september, and unlikely in october.  Homm3 TOH will continue until the homm4 server is ready, then homm3 TOH will end its season.  If homm4 is delayed to january or later, we will have a mini-season homm3 with TOH on the homm4 site, and will act as a good beta test of the automation for homm4 TOH.

3-The clans system will be similar, just new philosophies of course, since homm4 will be a different game.

activity

Activity in homm4 TOH should be fivefold of what it is now or greater, within 3-4 months into homm4's release.  Right now we fluctuate between 20-100 games played in TOH/day.  This could mean well over 500 a day.  You will get your games im sure.

Hmm well I have some questions n remarks concerings this new ranking system:
1. What is that "Honor Rating" for? What will it show ?
2. Will be the player search system same as in this Toh edition ? I mean the problem with finding points and win/loss record for player with handle "Lamer" when there is another guy with handle "Lamer_" - U can't then see the Lamer's points cause looking by name and Email doesn't show win/loss and points it really pissed me off when someone registered with nick Elfwarrior lately

Well anyway I think that these new image of Toh is cool

And do u really think that Homm4 will be released until january ?? cause I'm rather pessymitic knowing how it was with Homm3: AB for example

honor rating

the honor rating thing has been discussed already, in another topic ..... 'reporting honor level of a player' -- look for it on second page.  But this was the gist of it:

After discussing it with the professional automation team, Ive pretty much worked out what we will do for this part.
I am a believer of KISS (Keep It Simple, Stupid) and so I think it is best that we leave the honor rating as a yes/no/neutral answer.

Basically on the winloss report page, with the regular things they need to fill out, they will have:

'Did your opponent play with honor?' with a yes/no tickbox.

Players will start with a 50% honor rating, that can go 0-100% with the extremes being difficult to get of course.

Each time a yes is placed, 3% is added, and a no 3% is lost. The key here is, however, that the administrators can modify this rating at any time. Unreported winloss issues and honor issues may reduce their rating by increments of 5%, and a medal of honor being issued will bring their rating up to 90% automatically.

This honor rating will not be seen as a percentage on the player search, but as a term within certain parameters.

90-100% - Highest Honor
70-89% - High Honor
50-69% - Honorable
40-49% - Average
20-39% - Poor
0-19% - Disgraceful

This way, we keep it simple, but at the same time follow deth8's 5-level terminology setup. In essence, getting best of both worlds.

Again, it will not show on the player rankings, but on the player search/info section with the rest of the players' statistics.

Notice that players are automatically assumed to be 'honorable' a their time of registration and beginning

I like it.

This idea is great in my opinion!!

Who knows better than the people in the general playing field what other people are like in games?

Adding this option to the win/loss report page gives each of us a 'voice' that the rest of the ToH community can benefit from should they choose to listen to it.

I think it will be a great deterrent to poor behavior/negative comments/whining/name calling/you name it...

If someone is serious about playing in ToH and they want to be able to get games whenever they want, then they will be much more likely to treat their opponents civilly during games for fear of being 'branded' with a poor honor rating.

As far as I can tell, only good things will come from this.

But that's just my opinion, and everyone has one of those

Well, I'm not so enthusiatic about this idea - cause I played ppl who were quite angry on me because I won with them... Some guy wanted to report me to HC cause he considered the things that I did impossible to do without using some trainer lol Also different players have different "honour" defintions - for Jinxer for instance using hit n run, even when it was allowed, is a sign of having no honor... I of course can understand that but as u see u can be considered being not honorable even if u played without breaking rules/droping/cheating etc.

So I propose that the weight of PlayerX's opinon about PlayerY's honour rating should depend on the Honour Rating of PlayerX - The higher honour PlayerX has the more PlayerY's hounor rating is affected.

P.S. Of course, I'm not blaming Jinxer for his view of Honorable Behaviour - I just wanted to show misunderstandings that can occur in such situation - we should remeber that this honor rating will have great influence on opinion bout player so it should be fair as much as possible

but realistically....

I don't think that a person's rating could really go down so much based on the things you're talking about in your post Elfwarr.  For example, how often do you think it will happen in your games that players will be of the mind that you're using a trainer? In the same instance, how often do you use hit and run against players that you know are against it?  My point is that complaints such as these may surface once in a while - but with a player that is playing often - the favorable comments should by far outnumber the complaints, and an occaisonal bad remark from someone based on a game they didn't enjoy very much will not result in your honour rating dropping.  On the flipside to that, if you're doing things that merit many players indicating after a game that you are not very honourable, then there might be something to it

You said it, Pan

Pandora's point is right on the money.  Most of us play many more games with people we know than with strangers, so we're more likely to know from the beginning what kind of conduct/tactics is acceptable to our opponents.

Even in games with complete strangers, only a scattered few of them are likely to give you a poor rating when they report unless you actually deserve a one.  These people will be getting rated by their opponents also.  Their single report against you is nothing compared to all the ratings they get from the people they play.

I'm pretty sure any noticable patterns such as repeated "poor honor" ratings against their opponents on their loss reports will be easily detected.

Also, if they are angry enough to give you a bad rating, they are probably also doing a lot of whining/arguing/name calling during their games.

They can't influence your honor rating much at all if you don't play them again.

Toh : Generations

The Honour Rating System is a great thing.
When I started playing for Toh I was very suspicious about the game partners. They were plebes, like me, most of them new to Toh, and I came to know the manners of lots of them, in about a month. They were my generation of toh players.

And I could not know the elder players, because the difference in points between us (the generation gap ) was an impediment in setting games.
Then, when another season will start, and we will all be fresh plebes, I will be able to choose my partners more easily. Pandora is right, some angry voices will not really destroy one player's rating, and I think that after a season the rating will be quite accurate.
