Poll Question:
Build Scenario

Week 1, Day 7

Starting town is inferno. You control only the inferno town and an ore mine.
The contructed buildings are:
1. town hall
2. mage guild lvl 1
3. imp dwelling
4. hall of sins
5. demon gate
6. fire lake
7. citadel

Your main hero is bron, lvl 4 with adv armourer and expert resistance. Map is relatively poor. Your choices for aquiring extra resources are:
a) a horde of lizard warriors guarding a crystal resource, lumber res,a chest and a windmill
b) lots of wolf riders guarding a crystal res and a dwarven treasury
d) horde of gnolls guarding a naga bank
e) lots of marksman guarding a marletto tower, a star axis and a camp fire

The road out of your area is guarded by a hoard of boars. Your units are 15 imps, 2 gogs, and 2 efreets.
You have 6500 gold, 20 wood 14 ore, 12 merc, 4 sulf, 3 gems and 21 crystals.

Your income is 1000 gold every turn.

What would you do?

Not sure I got this right. We seem to be on day 7, week 1, but a thing is already built this day. Is the question what you would do on day 1, week 2? If so I would pick marketplace so you at least build something that day and then buy armies for the rest of my money and clean up my area if I can. 5 Efreetis and change will have to do.

Well, I believe Zsa is telling us that those are the 7 buildings in the town, not what was built on each day.  One would have to assume that an imp dwelling was already there.

The wood shortage is the key here, as a castle means you will not be seeing a city hall until you have broken out, and with 1000 a turn, you will not be able to get those those 4 efreet (3600) with only 2500 on day 1.  However, you should be able to take care of the gnolls, wolf riders, and the treasury (unless stacked) to purchase the rest.  You can also take a chance with your efreet and imps by going after the shooters.  The shooters may just kill off sacrificial imps allowing your efreet to close and conquer.

The castle is the better move, as you will have more creatures available to purchase.

I voted Castle.

In the long run, you will have more units this way even if you cannot buy them all day 1 week 2.

I agree lumber is the problem here and yes, the lizards will go for your large stack of imps, so split your efreets in 2 groups, wait and attack. Only a small number of imps will die and no problem.

Then you go for other stacks the next day when you have more money and a chain set up.

EDIT
I thought of going through the choices to see what other options are

- Building nothing is the worst choice for obvious reasons.
- Marketplace would be good if you find that you may need sulfur in the future. But be sure that you are able to built the silo the very next turn before you go on and build the marketplace. In this case, becaus of the available choices, I would max out the dwellings before this. (Cages and hell hole as other choices.)
- I would build the hell hole before the cages so you can start the demon farming.

So my choices would go like this:
1) Castle
2) hell hole
3) cages
4) MarketPlace
5) nothing

Note: In my game, I would choose marketplace after Castle to build the resource silo to get devils ASAP, but since Resource silo was not an option, MarketPlace takes the 4th rank.

I voted castle too, for same reasons.

Split troops:

1 imp
1 efreet
13 imps
1 efreet
1 imp

Wait with the 3 good stacks and forward the fodder stacks, then the rest of the battle should go ok.
This is assuming that Bron has no spells.

Zsa:

What have you done with all your (starting) troops? Have you lost them?

What happened to your deamons and pit fiends? Are they bough yet?

How many heroes do you actually have? How many of those fights can you do a day?

You mean there are no other mines at all? Only the Ore, nothing else? Not even to conquer? What to expect from the area after you broke the boars?

I voted castle, but only by instinct, without those infos I asked for it's a hasard game.

What about putting up a screensave (made on the adventure map) so that we will have a better idea?

(screensave: press printscreen then CTRL-V it in to an editor program, you can post the image here easily, but if having problems send it to me, csarmi@freemail.hu)

Some luck will be needed.  Also, if you bought your efreet, and still haven't found more gold, you will have to waste 3 days to build the hell hole.  6 efreet should be able to break out with some fodder.  All a matter of what lies on the other side.

Also, bear in mind that without an upgrade, you will not be raising any demons without a hill fort.  Wood is a priority in order to build mage guild level 2 to get that upgrade, but at the expense of possibly going for a city hall.  I think your pit fiends will have to wait.

These situations pop up so frequently on random maps.
Nice topic.  Curious to see what others have to say and discuss.

so are you saying you would buy the cages or marketplace before hell hole?
Because I also think the same as you and the hell hole would be the next thing to do after the wood mine and the castle.
I'm just confused if you agree or not with what I said... what would you suggest be second choice in the list then?

Well u built already for 7 days, so i guess the next day will be day 8, which is the beginning of a new weak.

Well Bron isnt really a good choice for inferno, as imps need attack and not defense (their hp range is to short, which explains your small army by now. So Resistance is pretty useless in this situation, but adv. defense will help a bit.

Nagabank is out of sight anyway so no goal here. Dwarven treasury same. Marletto tower (1000 gold), star axis and a lousy campfire isnt worth loosing necessary troups. Point a) looks interesting but the horde of Lizard warriors will fight harder then ull expect, also the things behing will help u only in the short run.

So your goal must be the horde of boars. Of course ull have many losses here too, but a new area with free resources will maybe worth it. Maybe they will enable u to built even devils.

Day 8 is traditionally day of troup enforcement. But instead of building nothing u built the marketplace, cause u may be able to built 2nd moneybuilding too (mage guild is already build).

So u spend 5 wood and 500 gold for the marketplace. Change all unnecessary resources into gold (sulfur, gems, crystal). As u get 1000 gold per day, u now have 8400 bugs in your hand. U buy the 3 addtional efreetis youve in town and the new 2 heroes uve in town with starting army (second for fodder, hopefully one do have artillery or is an barbarian). The rest of 700 bugs u spend on gogs and imps (maybe change some wood or ore if u see some in the next area).

With 5 Efreetis, Gogs, Imps and second Hero fodder and some technique (would be easier with an artillery) u might be able to break through those boars, but as i stated before bron is not the right hero for inferno and he looks a bit weak for a day 8 hero..enexpectedly weak.

PS: Before i forget ...as u already have build the mageguild u might be habe and do have the magic arrow, so your scouts can reduce the boars to by 2 per scout, maybe facing about 90 boars is better then about 99 . Loosing scouts that cant do anything isnt such a bad thing. Anyway...it doesnt look good

yes thank you angelito, and well thank you for everybody who answered in the thread.

I'm sorry about the dwelling confusion, that is not what's being build every day, it's what you already have.

This situation is fictitious, but it is based on a similar situation (a game that i am playing right now).

I am not asking for help here, just so we clear that up, so people like stevie wonder here don't have to tell me how much i suck . Just opinions on what you would do.

And csarmi, you do not have any more mines around, and you do not know what's behind the boars (like in a lot of situations) but you would obviously hope to find more resources and at least the lumber mine, even another town.

You do not have the hell hole yet, therefore you couldn't buy any pit fiends. The heroes are 5 in number ,but this is more relevant to what xarfax said with the scouts than with how many fights a day you can do.

The good question there, that was an omission i made, is the creatures bought, and that is only imps gogs and efreets, so thank you for that.

Bron has 2 7 1 1 stats, and the mage guild spells are magic arrow, stone skin, bloodlust and cure. All creatures/buildings are on inferno terrain.

The other omission was that you are at the beggining of week 1 day 7 and that you can hit any of the above mentioned creatures/places.

This is a poll, but i was looking for an answer similar to what xarfax, kwahraps gave (even though he thought it was week 2 ), an analysis of the situation and what you would do. Now hopefully i have all the important info down and the mistakes fixed, so there won't be any more trouble.

Edit: And i promise to post some screen shots from an actual situation next time I make a thread like this.

and then he plays with a permanent blind spell aswell

and to clarify: my first post wasnt about reminding you how crappy you play, but rather make you to get some insight that you obviously either have taken som really stupid fights in the first 6 days or your fighting tactics arent the best.

Either way if you wanna learn from your game you have now this should be the first lesson.

Maybe you should stick to your "insights" and leave the jokes to more qualified posters.  8)

Oh wait, you haven't offered any.

Please, if everyone was this touchy in all aspects of life, there would be no fun left. Im sure he didnt feel offended in any way, and if he is, let him talk my sents and no offenses meant

To the topic, Swoobeegian here is right ;P Zsa here have picked up on the wrong fights, but when this have happened, its important to not give up, and try to build yourself up again. Its obvious here that there is nothing in your main area here that can put you back were you should be week2 (exept maybe the treasury. If the treasury is on road and it shows horde dwarves when you enter and refuse to fight, then take it with week2 army). At this point, you will have to leave out the castle building. Maybe you buy the hell hound dwell, but not quite sure about it since the map is this poor. You will need all 5 efreets week2 day 1, and your only way is taking the block to the next area. Take with you some fooder, and with some magic, the boars should go fine with bron as hero.
