Development week1

As most players know after some online experience, speed is everything in this game, and having a great first week, will help you take the map as quick as you can. Most often, the one who beats the map quickest, wins the game. So here is my idea ( in a new thread since it didnt fit in the old one )

I have made a random BB large here, (that I have not looked at ) The towns to chose from is Fortress and Stronghold. I thought we could make this a test map. Let every player try it till day7, and tell the result, hero choice, buldings built, money, resources, heroes level, creatures, to see how this map can be played at best. I want you people to save every turn, and if possible upload the saves and make people watch it. No peeking in map in map editor though Hopefully this will be just like a real game

Random map BlockBuster

I think this is a great way to improve

I did one attempt myself here, and saves can be found here

I chose Fortress; Difficulty: 130%

Results from week 1 is (first try, no saves/loads/peeking): 6 heroes; Gerwulf, Rion, Tazar (main; level 5 - exp armor, basic earth and advanced log), Zubin (lvl 2), Cyra and Thunar

Units: 4 scouts with one serpent fly; on tazar: 15 lizardmen 35 gnolls, and 2 wyverns

Dwellings: 2 gnoll dwells and 1 serpent fly dwell

Build: Castle and ALL dwellings. Second town have town hall

Resources: 19 wood, 8 mercury, 17 stone, 3 sulfur, 10 crystal, 10 gems, 1645 gold. Income; 2 wood, 2 ore, 1625 gold

Plans; will chain army to zubin for crypts, and then, next day, chain back army + 3 hydras ++ for gold mine, then straight for brake to third area: Since fortress isnt heavily resource dependant at this point, I wont prioritate the mines in second area. Mass slow will soon be available, and with that army and mass slow, I can take on huge fights, also in third area.

Anyone to test the stronghold side?

Try it on 160% instead, 130% on BB is a joke cause (too rich). I made a starting save with level 2 buildings prebuilt for both sides.

I started stronghold but it was boring.

I'll be trying fortress on 160%. My starting hero is the gnoll specialist, I got Tazar in tarven with 3 flies and a logistics planeswalker (hurray!), the hut next to my castle is a logistics hut (yet another hurray). Harpies are blocking my way forcing me to buy Wyverns though...

yap, indeed, I agree on that one will try it on 160 sometime when I get time, getting the perfect build will be a bit harder then tell the results when your done in order to make this build, you will have to risk some of your army in the crypts week1 with fortress. should not be a problem with 2 wyverns though.

If someone manages to do something really wild, explanation is required

tried on 130 with stronghold. here're the results on day 7:

Builds:
Stronghold (+500 gold): all critter dwellings, except cyclops; mage guild 1.
Necro (2nd town) (+1000 gold), meaning tavern and town hall, and a market.
External Dwellings: Orcs.

Heroes: Crag Hag (main), level 5, primaries: 10-2-3-4, Exp Offence, Adv Earth Magic, Basic Pathfinding. Arties: +3 Attack; +1 Knowledge; +2 Power and Kowledge; Eagle Eye +15% (crap); +1 Health. 1 Billista.
Other heroes: Vey, Gurnison, Lord Haart, Christian - lv 2 (+ Ballista), Torosar (+Ballista).
as u see, i was flooded with Ballista heroes in tavern. 3!

Main Army: 1 Behemoth, 3 Rocs, 14 Orcs, 15 Wolf Raiders, 52 Goblins.

about 1000 Gold in store, and the heroes ready to conquer a newtown.

On the first day of week 2, i conquered another necro town, and month 2 week 3 i defeated the opponent.

On BB?

You sure you didn't pass misplaced guards? Or maybe it was a bad load.

anyway, I tried to play for a week lazy, but i thought it would be a situation with poor res and an average- strong guarding your way out, anyway.

I randomed the hero and got dessa as main (yeah ).

Till day 7 got all the stronghold creature buildings up + castle and town hall.

Got townhall up at the necro town too, and 7 heroes.

The only thing i hated about the map was the resource trader next to your castle. It gives you a huge advantage, and I rarely see it on random maps anyway.

How can I get the saves up here?

Oh, thought u'd never ask. Yeah, those few Ancient Behemoths went to take a leak in the bushes, so I passed no problemo.
hey, dont blame the messenger, blame the mapmaker.

It may be more wise to chose a random Panic instead, as that is a much harder template resource wise, will if I have time to upload such one later today

@Svarog: you actually need no misplaced guards rule spelled out

Edit: Zsa's saves can be found here
