My prayer
I was browsing my online diary today when I saw the entry I made on Thanksgiving. It's a bit outdated by now but I'd still like to share it with you.
Dear Lord,
Not thou who art spoken of in churches
But thou who are in my heart;
Not thou who takes
But thou who gives.
I want to thank you that
I have a roof above my head
And food on my table,
That I'm a student in college (though I don't deserve to be one).
I feel grateful that I have friends,
That I have a mother and a father,
That I have dreams
And that I have a talent.
Thank you for all the kindness that I have seen from people, close or unknown,
Thank you that I have a mind and a heart,
Thank you that I'm still young and bold.
Thank you that I am in health good enough to be up and write this right now.
But most of all, thank you for myself
Because above all else even if I have no one else, I have myself, and that's the greatest gift of all.
