Yay, MMORPGs! Now we get to pay monthly and play a regular RPG minus the characters and plot BUT see a million other people playing it at the same time.

i would like to play the game, but i also believe that when i pay out the initial fee for a game i should be entitled to play that game as much as i like.no way will i continue paying for a game forever.i played a test-weekend of a mmorpg called "guild wars",and they can manage without charging a monthly fee.its pure greed in my opinion

Pisses me off (that you cant even try it for free) too AND 15 dollars a month is not pocket-money for me. For 2-3 dollars I'd might reconsider even though I have never paid a single coin for any computer game (flame me, I don't care; games are way too much expensive for us hungarians - that 60 dollars is more than my monthly scolarship and 1/5th of an average monthly "salary" here).

im turkish and i ordered the game from my friends in NewJersey... believe me 60$ + 15 per month is also expensive for me BUT when i compare all my expenses, i understand that i spent money for stupid things everyday... its luxury to pay for a game ok but WOW deserve that money... wonderful game, full addiction guarenteed and superb gaming...

All of us spent money for crap... playing wow is my hobby now and im glad i didnt make same mistake i did few years ago(i refused playing everquest cause of montly payment)

Regards all,
Hasan

When you buy the game you get a month for free.

Plus you could also sign up for Open Beta, Closed Beta, Alpha... etc...

So there were numerous chances to try the game for free.

I played Open Beta, and I must say that yes it's worth the 15 dollars a month, because if you own the game it will be played at least as much time as you would spend on any hobby and many hobbies are a lot more expensive than 15 dollars a month.

It's definitely worth it. The game is that fun, but like I said in Other Games Do Exist, I won't get the game because I know I will play it too much.

I just had to comment on this. You definitely don't haven't tried the game, nor get the good things about MMORPGs.

It's a team-based game where you join parties etc...

And along the way, you meet friends in just the same way you would playing someone over and over again in Toh or by just posting on a message board.

But yes, you don't have to pay to go on HC or play in Toh, but WoW is way more fun. I miss that game.

Yes they want the card number, but that doesn't mean you don't get that free month.  It may discourage those who ONLY want that free month.

Yes, you can continue to play Heroes for free, but remember, the reason there is any Heroes community is because 1 person (Vesuvius) and a VERY SMALL group of others like Camel, attempt to make content where there is none.  As is life, you get what you pay for.  If $15 per month is to much, than so be it, but I'll gladly pay $15 per month to get a game so mucher bigger in scope than Heroes ever was or will be.

New World Computing made a great game, they didn't make a great business.  You can fight the trend all you want, reality is paying for ongoing product enhancements, improvments, etc, is the only way games will continue to improve and is certainly the model for how all games will eventually be.

I don't like the thought of paying 60 bucks for a game and then 15 bucks a month on top of that.  You contribute to one greedy business, eventually you will contribute to them all.  If people actually support the 15 bucks a month pretty soon all the businesses will charge it, and that would be a lame waste of money.  The best things in life are free.

@balcough - I think it's obvious that you've never even played the game. The Massively Multiplayer element of the game is what makes it so good. You party with people and make friends along the way. The professions are a blast. In open beta I loved to hunt animals for skins, then make the leather into armor, bags, or whatever I could make. The more complex items required rarer things, and often times my friends could get them for me. I'd make leather goods for them in exchange. The game is far better than you give credit.

The game is by no means a hack & slash game. It's way more than that. It's not all clicking until **** dies. Many quests and monsters require several people in a party. And even then it's very difficult. There's a lot of strategy on how to attack. You wouldn't understand until you had played the game. There's as much strategy as there is in RTS games. It combines so many elements into the game, but the fact that it's multiple people coordinating a large scale attack, makes it very hard. At the higher levels, Partying with people who are morons probably lowers their level by about 5, which is a ****load, btw.

It's the best game I've ever played. There isn't a better game on the market period.

i may be ignorant, but i didnt think RTS games had much strategy either.every one i played consisted of build the most units quickest, and watch the carnage.hardly chess.i also agree with not paying the monthly fee in case they all charge it.that is exactly what happened with pay-per-view in the uk.they did it for one event (frank bruno v mike tyson) and now every single boxing match worth watching is on pay-per-view,despite the fact you already pay the satellite companies for their sports channels.JUST SAY NO

yeah I'm pretty sure you don't get games like Starcraft. I know some guys that are just snowing ridiculous at that game. It's basically how long can you survive. He taught me so much about how to play that game.
