Also, just out of curiosity, I don't remember seeing refugee camps mentioned by the multi player people regarding rules. I just got a day 2 arch devil. That seems like it would be extremely unbalanced, a lot more imbalanced than some of the other rules I've seen.
The main reason why fixed maps in tourneys where that unbalanced. Finding a level 7 creature in the first days brings an advantage which can never be equalized again, because fixed maps are made pretty balanced, which means, all other things are around for both sides.
One thing many players didn't know that time was, a guarded refugee camp always has pikemen to recruit in that week.

Hi there,

I'm new here. Looking for good random templates with the following criteria:

- no fly, DD, TP
- no diplomacy
- no cartographers
- no overabundance of dragon fly hives
- average treasure
- average guards
- suitable for large or XL, with underground
- varied terrain (many small areas)

Anyone know of any templates that fit these?
Random templates can't restrict skills or spells. Only map objects, terrain, towns, guards etc...

afaik it's not always...depends on guard cell and only if level7 was inside camp. Not sure however, need to test

Okay then, thanks for the reply. Disregarding that part then, do you know of any quality templates which fit my other criteria?

Many small areas...average guards...average treasures?

Maybe you try "Marathon"....many areas, but I think guards are a bit tougher than average. Made for looong games. XL+U recommended.

im quite new to the template thing.
I would like to know how to install or use templates. I've looked around on this forum and find some explinations with extracting a rgm folder and then use dos and java or something. If i do that.. it just give me an error in dos and nothing happens. (i do have java). Isn't there some kind of patch that just installs it on its own or a better explination out there?

just copy template (rmg.txt) file into DATA folder where your homm3 is located. Name of template must be rmg.txt!

First, thank you.

Marathon seems promising...though it seems to only be for 1v1. Ideally I want an 8 player ffa template (forgot to mention that). Is there such a thing? Or could I modify Marathon to fit that profile?

Or 2 humans vs 6 comps?

8 Human/Computer players (8 way free for all), was what I had in mind.

I've created a template for someone some months ago, called "Coldshadow's Fantasy". It is not average, but hard, mostly made to play it on 200%, so the computer players become strong enouzgh to be a little challenge at least.

It can be played 1 human vs 7 comps, but also 2 humans (allied or not) vs 6 comps.

I mostly played it with WoG and it is great fun to play.

Check it out in this thread.

Thanks angelito. I would like to try that template out, but it seems the rapidshare link to the latest version is no longer working. Could you re-upload it?

I have one question.

Is it possible to set alignment of zone (without town) to neutral? I tried almost everything, but RMG often generates non-neutral dwells/boxes...

i'm making a random template for 7 players L no underground and i have a question, how do you make the treasure areas always on the middle? i have two treasure areas, one rough terrain with two neutral towns and one sand terrain with no towns. the rough terrain is always placed in the middle with connections to every 7 player like i want, the sand terrain however is usually on the edge and connected to only one player area. i tried to change connection settings many times but nothing changed, and right now they are like this:

I diffed Jebus and poor jebus and the only difference there is, is:

Jebus Treasure
Low High Density
300 3000 14

Poor Jebus Treasure
400 3000 4

What is the difference between 300 and 400 (if any). And relatively speaking, what is the difference between 4 and 14? (is it only gold piles and resources affected? Or some other stuff too?)
