Weekly library question____week 9_05

Hello folks!

Letīs try to start a heroes quiz similar to the one Sir_Stefan had in mind for the olympics. If the olympics will happen, we can create an olympic library quiz additional, no problem.

Xarfax started such a "Quiz" 1,5 years ago, was called "The Oracle" and had very good and tough questions. Was a pitty that not that much people gave their answers to the given question, so Xarfax decided to stop it after 3 questions.

It should go like this:
I will ask a library refering question and everyone who is in the mood can try to answer it. U shouldnīt post only a single word or number, but explain the answers detailed, to see how u found your solution.

Keep in mind, that these questions wonīt be very easy to answer. You should always think twice before responding. If u read the question, and u think "Errr?...Thatīs an easy question, does he think we are totaly noobs?", then u should read and rethink again, coz u probably mised somehting then...

Feel free to send me some other tricky questions if u like, and i will post them in a following thread if i think they are good enough (and the author will be named as wel..).

OK...letīs start with this "easy" question:

What is the highest possible speed a unit can have after the opponent casted expert slow on the battlefield?

Detailed answers please

Let's see... the highest speed title goes to Phoenix with 21. Add +2 for Cape of Velocity, and +1 for both Ring of the Wayfarer and Necklace of Swiftness. The hero with the Phoenixes is Sir Mullich and the match is on grass terrain, so the Phoenixes will get 28 Speed in total.

On the first round Mullich casts Expert Haste. Phoenixes get 33 speed. Expert slow would reduce their speed to 14, but it wonīt because the Phoenixes resist it, because Mullich has Resistance. So their speed will remain 33.

If Mullich has no Resistance or resistance arties, he has an Azure Dragon with all previous artifacts and prayer, so it will get 29 speed after the resisted slow. (they are immune...) Was that correct?

As far as I remember, slow at it's most effective halved the speed of a unit, which would bring it down to 14. I'm probably wrong though.

A simple black dragon goes faster than 14 .

I suppose everything is allowed if not forbidden? Can the unit have some spells active already. Any hero with any sec skills can lead it? If so I'll say 32 : The same phoenix as before but with prayer on and he resisted the spell .

Assume no player has orb of negativity.
Assume no resistance skill.

What you first need to do for this question is list all the creatures that have immunity to slow and have a speed higher than 11

1. Gold Dragons
2. Black Dragons
3. Magic Elementals
4. Azure Dragons

so wohoo azures are immune to slow so we got our winner there.

Now heroes - what hero increases speed - obviously mulich

Native terrain - azure dragons have no native terrain

Artefacts - you got 3 artefacts of speed amounting to a total of +4 speed

Spells, what spells can you have on the dragon BEFORE the slow is cast - exrt prayer will increase speed +4

so now lets add up the snowe

19 + 2 + 4 + 4 = 29

29 speed with the azure dragon assuming there's no orb of vul in play and your creature doesn't resist the spell based on hero resistance or given by other units (unicron aura).

In that case you just take the phoenix in both cases (orb or resistance). Add Mulich, grass, prayer, all speed arties.

When orb of vul is present:

21+1+2+4+4 = 32
32/2 = 16 speed

When orb of vul is present but your unicorns help you resist and you have haste and prayer from before:

21+1+2+5+4+4 = 37 speed

when you resist and have haste and prayer from before:

37 speed

PS: there's other scenarios too, the question is a bit too broad. It needs to be a little more specific.

I think we should assume that slow was not resisted by the actual unit. Also as far as I know, slow does NOT half the enemy speed after prayer. It acts a bit more interesting way.

maybe you're right I don't know exactly when the slow applies to the unit (before or after the bonuses are considered) but I really don't feel like wasting my time on testing it. If somebody else feels like they got time to waste please do so and tell us or if somebody already knows taht share the knowledge.

I have to admit that the question was not very exact asked.

I will add 3 more facts though:

1. Only units from version 1.4 do count for that scenario (means no Azures or Phoenixes...)

2. Secondary skill resistance or resistance arties also donīt count.

3. Name the speed and the units when answering the question.

Sorry for editing this thing, but itīs the first questions and all good things need some time to run properly..

Gold dragon then

speed of 16 + 1 (grass) + 2 (mulich) + 4 (speed arties) = 23 speed :\

hey people i am here first time and not very good at heroes
but count on all urs information i realized that maximum speed will be 21 not 23 like zsa said
reason is that version 1.4 dont have mulich then it is    -2 lol

pulsar, the 1.4 restriction applies only to UNITS, so everything else (like mulich) is fair game.

An Archangel with the 4 speed artifacts on grass with the spells (at expert level) : haste, prayer and anti-magic. Speed is 32 (18 + 4 + 1 + 5 + 4) or 34 with Sir Mullich.
Maybe you want the stack to be affected by the slow spell?

Haste negates the effects of slow as well as add the speed bonus if I remember correctly, so I think we have a winner

Ok guys, we have a winner here

The clue about the question was the "anti-magic" spell after the 2 spells "haste" and "prayer" were casted. So Pacifist was the only one to keep that in mind in his answer.

Congrats

The new question will be posted tomorrow in a new thread...
