Who Died/What died in HOMM3 to HOMM4
What creatures and heroes died in the destruction of erathia, otherwise did not make an appearance in HOMM4

It's not like they died, but the Fortress was pretty much disbanded. Hydras went over to Chaos, and some of their heroes became knights (like Bron and Dracon I believe). Aside from that, it looks like the kingdom of Tatalia was pretty much wiped off the face of the "Earth."

No lich creatures in H4, and the "lich" heroes are not treated as undead (and they're frequently demons or something else in portrait anyway). Therefore, for the purposes of this list, I consider liches lost.
As great as H3 power liches are, though, I guess I didn't think of them as the make-or-break factor for a whole game...

Death heroes are affected by Holy Water
In Equilibris Lich secondary class is undead. So Holy shout/word affect them too.

There are many lich heroes, for example:
DEATH KNIGHTS: Moander, Winsela
NECROMANCERS: Aislinn, Baenefa, Jessika, Kalibarr, Morticus, Sandro, Thessa
(See mmportal.com for them.)
I think it is more likely, that very few liches have survived, and they are all heroes now. But it is just an idea.

So, here's a question...how much lichiness qualifies a HoMM game as containing liches? My answer would be "lich creatures," i.e. HoMM2 and 3. However! Sandro appears in HoMM1 as a warlock, but his portrait is quite lichy. Does that mean that there are liches in HoMM1? Maybe it depends on whether you're talking game mechanics or story?
On a similar note, Asmodean reminded me that Sandro and Gem both survived. So did Crag Hack and Yog. So that "all campaign heroes have vanished" thing refers only to Restoration of Erathia and Armageddon's Blade. The Shadow of Death crowd is a-okay.
