It's not easy to come to terms with something like that but I suppose it is a kind of compensation that the case is closed.. You seem to have accepted it, it's the only thing you can do for now. Remember the good times and hold him in your heart.

Well you may have noticed I haven't been around for about 7 days or so.  Last Saturday, we had a sewage backup in our apartment, which flooded our entire basement with about 2 inches of human waste.

Yes, it was a very bad week.

It's all cleaned up now, but it took a lot of raising hell with the landlord, not to mention constant work with the insurance company.

Upon further inspection of my order of admittance to the state bar, I discovered that I made a motion to the court to admit my supervisor to the practice of law instead of my supervisor nominating me.  So, techincally, I haven't been officially sworn in yet because some moron got the names switched around.

You know, I almost consider it my duty ro revive this thread, since it's been a while since I felt slightly horrible. My guess is that period sort of ended around a month or two ago, but today it's back, because God or my own subconscience, whatever, doesn't want me to be happy

Reasons are pretty much a combination of inability to express my opinion and troubles with my girlfriend. Now, by all accounts, this shouldn't even be taken halfway seriously, since I'm like... what? Seventeen? That's normal at that age! Feel down? why don't you just go out and play and ride a bicycle or play on your nintendo?

Now, that I've made a tasteless joke, I can go on. now, my major problem is that my girlfriend doesn't know whether she loves me anymore (almost taken straight out of a soap opera, if you'd count in the reason why and the circumstances) and that pretty much sucks, since I've grown quite fond of her, going out with her for almost nine months, so... Yeah...
Thing is: problem is not in my hands... You know, I can work around anything, as long as I can find a solution or a way to actively lessen the problem (until that time, I'm like the thinker of Rodin, but more emo and less greek god), but since, you know, it's in her hands, now, I can't do anything, I am powerless.

And until the time she decided, she'll pretty much act like everything is normal, which I find sucktacular! Thanks everyone for listening, stay tuned next week for another episode of 'drama with dagoth'

I bid thee all a good night.

Good story, Father

Dagoth: I'll tell ya something, mate. It's very normal for your age to feel down! Most often it's because of first love and/or how it developed. I'm pretty sure 90% of people went through it! Including me, ofc.

The best way to get rid of the feeling is to be creative.. start doing something and stick to it.. yeah, develop a new hobby! Like, martial arts, those give you a nice ego boost.. And are a way of spending those lonely evenings NOT on doubts, but on something productive.. something you will be proud of.

That's what I did. It helps, trust me

Not sure if this fits here completely but we had an earthquake here some time ago today. Fortunately it was very short, only a few seconds, and I'm hoping it won't come back with more force and cause a tragedy.

I somehow managed to piss off an old acquaintance last night.  All I've been hearing for the past few months is that her teaching job is hectic, and that she always dreads having a bad week.  I always hear her talking about how exhausted she gets, but never anything positive.  If the teachers have a prep day and no kids have to show up, she sounds ecstatic.  So yesterday, she commented that she wished her recent one-week vacation was longer.  It fed into my long held impression that maybe teaching wasn't really to her liking.  So I finally asked, "Don't you find your job at least a little rewarding?  It sounds like you haven't been enjoying it very much."  I guess she took it as a personal attack, because she accused me of misinterpreting what she said.  "When did I say I didn't enjoy my job?", she fired back.  She thought I was criticizing her desire for longer weekends and holidays, and suggested that perhaps I'd (me) rather spend my vacations in the classroom studying instead of enjoying myself.  She later followed up with a rant about how "certain people" grumble about teachers having it easy and not knowing what they go through.  She seemed very irritated, and somewhat unreasonably so.

I was taken aback, since I didn't expect her to respond this way.  She's never had a problem with me before, and I certainly wasn't trying to be obnoxious.  Did I come across as being too insensitive?  Did I catch her at a bad time?  I know I say dumb things every now and then, but I never thought my little comment would ignite anything.

So I wrote her an apology (mind you, this whole encounter was over the Web), saying I didn't mean to offend her and that I misunderstood her situation.  I mentioned that my mom was also a teacher, and that I've seen how stressful and demanding her job could be.  I said that I really respect people involved in education because of the many things they have to put up with.  I did my best to reassure her that I didn't blame her for cherishing her free time; far be it from me to be critical of that.  I did not concoct my apology simply to calm her down; it was all very honest and heartfelt.  It's not like me to cause trouble like that, and it distressed me to know that she was angry.

I'm still waiting for a reply from her.  On the one hand, I'm hopeful that she'll accept my apology and see it as a little misunderstanding.  On the other hand, I'm wondering if she'll give me the time of day.  We have a somewhat odd history.  She's kept her distance from me over the past few years, and I've gotten the feeling that she's not going to open up to someone who's outside her immediate circle of friends.  And definitely not now, since she recently got married.  I've harbored certain misgivings about how she's neglected me many times.  On my part, however, I've kept these things to myself and never really made a fuss about them.

I doubt many of you'd pay much attention to my affairs these days, but I hope you won't mind me letting off some steam here.

You forgot a line in your apology. 'But you are still a crazed *****, no offense'

Well.. I tend to be a little blunt about these kinds of situations, unless you occasionally confront people about things(I do not mean accuse) it can get progressively easier to end up having one of those misunderstandings. I do not believe you did anything remotely wrong, she was probably in a bad mood. Still it rather sucks that she always sounds negative, she may not be aware how often she does that. I hope things go alright but if she is still offended then you are probably better off. And seriously while teaching can be demanding they get loads of rest that most others would be envious of - you could've been fed defensively generated bs.

I had a similar problem because I discussed her work with a girl, she got offended, because she thought I was telling her how she should live and decided to stop communication with me.
I was just curious because she had a different view from mine.

when communicating on internet, you can't see what the other feels (except through webcam) and it seems some people will just interpret ambiguous sayings as criticisms, attacks

your acquaintance is most likely using a defensive strategy, the question is why. it is possible that she really doesn't enjoy her job, as you said, but since it brings her some security, money, a respectable place in society, etc... she's afraid of losing those advantages and so she gets on the defensive to justify she clings to her current situation.

you may have noticed that many people who are unhappy or poor don't do anything to improve their situation, possibly because they prefer cliging to a familiar situation. it gives them an impression of control over their life I suppose. well I mean, when each day is the same than the previous one, you imagine the future will hold no bad surprise.

btw, I personnaly think it's a bad idea for someone in a bad mood to teach pupils.

Wow, mate. I am actually.. amazed by your tolerance.

I absolutely hate people that take offense from something trivial or try to guess your intentions. They start arguments because THEY failed to understand something.

But worse are people who bore you with insights about their life, rant, waste your time with their BS and actually get pissed when you ask about something not in the way THEY have planned.

If I were you, I'd tell her to **** off at the end of her unprovoked "rant" (if I were certain she is pissed at me because of something as innocent as a question) and ignore her until she came to senses that she overreacted. If she would not (doesn't mean she has to apologize, but at least acknowledge she acted like an idiot), I wouldn't care for her at all - there are many people who can be your friends and don't go ape**** when they are not "in the mood".

Tell her to let off the steam by training sports, focusing on hobbies or watching movies, not acting like a ***** towards friends. A despicable attitude, if you ask me
