Actually,

Vesuvius gave me my first Qp ever in the old Toh Heroes forum(MAH) that has now been merged with Toh main. I wrote a heart-felt letter of condolence to KittenAngel and he gave me a Qp.

Here's the link:
http://heroescommunity.com/viewthread.php3?TID=10849

I have deleted my Qp'ed post in protest to the Toh forum for disrespecting me as a Heroes Community member. My Qp count remains the same and Vesuvius even admits to giving me the Qp in the thread.

That is quite rare indeed.
Ves has a fondness for Kitten but I heard him also admit he never gives QP so it should be a privledge .

Update

Well,
when I started this thread I wasn't a mod and now that I've been one for a while, I'd like to know if this is still an issue.

I would also like for our newest members to voice their oppinions on this.

Ever since I became a mod Other Side has been more active. Even if this is totally unrelated to me, I would like to push for a system where members could nominate other posts in Other Side for QP's.

Basically, I'd like to give more QP's in Other Side. So please, if you have read a post that you found great, please let me know by writting about it in the feedback thread. If this works well, we could start a QP feedback thread in which members could nominate others in this forum.

Evidently, mods would have the last say on the subject.

Blablablabla.... So anyone have any thoughts?

As a moderator in this forum I have to say that my concern for the direction things are going here is growing every day.

What do you guys think will make the difference and turn this forum around? Is it stars? More penalties? Anything? Nothing?

More penalties please

Inciting violence is for a start actually a criminal offence, so I don't think we should tolerate such behaviour.

Calling people terrorists randomly is also crossing the line imo.

This forum is great sometimes and then just crap other times such as every forum. When someone starts clogging up a thread with crap and pulling away from the subject matter it throws the whole thing off. Then the people that really want to do something with it tend to stop responding and it dies out again. Block those people from responding to further to threads that they intend on just filling with **** and off subject matters.

I think this forum is great to talk about real life events, personal or global.
I dont think many give a rats crack about QP.
I think people just enjoy thier point of views.

Basically keeping it real is what real life events is all about.

Note: This post was written several days ago in response to Pan's post.  It is unfinished, so it just kind of stops at a random point.  But in light of some recent, um, "activity" around here, I thought this was an appropriate time to post it.

The first step is to figure out what the forum is supposed to be in the first place. And I think the distinction between the various discussion boards should be made clear.  People need to know what each board is all about and what is expected of them in each one.  The COC applies to all of HC, but each board has unwritten "soft" rules which are more tradition than anything else.

Much of the dissatisfaction is the result of changes to "tradition".  The entire idea of "the good old days" is because of this.  Each of us joined HC because of what HC had to offer at the time we came here.  If we liked what we saw then maybe we joined.  When things change, the very reason we joined may no longer exist.  So we begin to question if there is a reason to stick around.  The membership at HC has always been a revolving door.  And since the forum is what the members make it, the boards change over time.  Those of us who stick around tend to think of the board as "ours" and feel like something we like has been stolen from us when change occurs.

So it comes back to what is the board "supposed" to be?  Why is it not what it's supposed to be?  And with the current membership, can it even be what we want it to be, or is that nothing more than a pipe dream?

Traditionally the Other Side has been a board for discussion about politics, social issues, religion, etc.  In short, all the subjects that are best avoided if we prefer to play nicey, nicey, let's all have a big group hug.  The subject matter by it's very nature creates conflict and disagreement.  I think the single most important rule for the Other Side is that the members must learn to agree to disagree.

And I think the second most important rule is to actually think about what we say before we say it.  It's all too easy to react emotionally in the heat of a debate and say things that are inappropriate, hurtful, insulting or just total bull****.  When people react emotionally like this too often, they can easily discredited themselves.  Once discredited, it can take a very long time to regain people's respect.

Too many people want to talk and not listen.  Maybe what should really be the first rule here, as well as in real life, is to always admit that we might be wrong.  We don't have to admit it out loud, but at least admit it to ourselves.  That puts us in a position to actually listen to what others have to say.....not listen in a way to formulate our response why they are wrong, but listen in a way to actually understand their position and maybe, just maybe, change our own view.  Know thy enemy.  That means really listening to them.  If we still disagree after truely listening, then our own argument becomes even stronger because we understand the other side.

Some of the people I've most respected at HC were people I disagreed with about almost everything.  I've respected them because they had valid reasons for believing as they did and they presented their views well.  I also respected them because they respected me in return.  You could tell the other person got pissed sometimes, but it always remained civil and respecful.  That's a sign of maturity that has nothing to do with age.

OKOK I will answer
I disagree with hug & kisses etc.
I think this forum has been more rowdy then the others.
Basically because there will always be debating & disagreements.
What makes it interesting.
Plus it's fun to talk about real life stuff & who relates to it.

I also agree that at one time we came here for a purpose.
I said it many time & I will say it again.
We all came because of Heroes of Might & Magic.
We all played it on the zone.
We played it outside.
When HC was created, we got to see the other side of who we played.
Made better friends with other players & played many others who you never played before.
We all coexisted on the game & we all had the same likes.
Talk about the game, quizzes etc.

Now heroes 4 came out, that game thanks to 2DOH & thier bankrupted unfinished crapped game, that desolated many players from here as well as the like for the games future.
Now many people find this HC who only played a few games single player or never at all.

Now Heroes 5, the only place you see toh players talking is in the toh forum.
Most in here now never even seen the game.
If they have, they rarely played it but a few times.
I can bet you my next pay check that most never played online.
If they had, probally with a single friend that also joined in.

Now those people raged war against the vets on here.
People who care less about the community & heroes decided to join to rage war to people who has been here for yrs.
I believe this people are the reason why HC is the way it is.
People dont like it here anymore.
Many people are just killing any fun left in it.
From stupid flame wars to thread killing, to just being straight out rude.

The times are changing Bibanik.
With the times the memories of the fun now that the good old heroes games are older then some of the kids in here .
Back then we all had an interest, we all had fun then we played some toh games after.
Now it's just a bunch of haters I believe who can careless.

We cared back then about each other, now it's OH WELL ATTITUDE.
