Member Spotlight!

Introducing a new feature to Tavern of the Rising Sun - Member Spotlights!

Here we will be adding short HC biographys about our members from all of the forums in hopes to let us get to know each other better, and as well to pay a bit of tribute to all of you people who make this Community so great!

Members are free to suggest others for a Spotlight, either using IM or the Tavern Feedback thread. Please do not post questions or comments here, as they will be deleted in order to keep the focus on the members!

If you feel ambitious and wish to add a profile of your own, go right ahead - the bigger this thread becomes the more fun it will be to have

This is not a TPAM type of post, as there is no obligation for anyone to participate! If need be I will just keep butchering my postcount and do it myself

Lord_Woock

As Lord_Woock is our first and currently only Responsible Undefeatable Hero, he seemed like a good member to start with

He joined Heroes Community on July 5th 2001 and he currently has over 5000 posts; and has earned 14 Quality posts in his time here so far! Woock can be found most often posting in the Tavern of the Rising Sun, but has also been seen around the Library of Enlightenment , Barde’s Glayde Pyre, Other Games Exist too and the Turban Tribunal.

Woock is known for his immense love of Queen, and his knack for silly humour that will often bring a smile to your lips

Lord_Woock is the Co-Creator of the Minks Jolly Good Adventure along with Daddy. He is also the one who brought us the Guild of Pixelartists

Xarfax111

Xarfax first joined HC on May 09, 2001. His wisdom can be found shared among a few different usernames as he tends to forget his password He has been using Xarfax111 since February 16, 2002 - let's hope he stays with this name!

Xarfax is one of our most knowledgable HoMM 3 tacticians, if there is something about the game you do not understand - take a look through his threads, he has probably already explained it somewhere!

You can find Xarfax most often in the Library of Enlightenment sharing his Wisdom in threads like Collectors Cut and HoMM3 Tactics.

Once in a while you can find Xarfax in the Tavern of the Rising Sun, sharing his taste in movies and his fun sense of humour with us too

But remember, if you need to know something about Homm3 - Xarfax is your guy!

Consis

Consis first joined us on December 3, 2003; and in his time here he has already accumulated 13 Quality Points! Proof of why can be seen by reading through his many thoughtful threads and posts.

While he no longer participates in the Toh forum, Consis can be found sharing his views and ideas in just about every other forum here.

A writer at heart, you can see Consis' talents here in the Baldurs Gate Diaries - as well as in this thread Women Are Beautiful.

Consis has been a very active member of the Community since he joined us here, and can be found often contributing to the threads in The Other Side of The Monitor - or anywhere he feels he has 2 cents to throw in

If you'd like to know even more about Consis - check out his Personal Page

Daddy

Daddy signed up to HC on the 26th of May 2004.

By the 28th we'd already seen so many pictures of him we knew his face better than our own reflections!!
(Here's just one for fun!)

Daddy's infectious good humour and positive attitude made him one of Tavern's best-loved posters in an incredibly short time.

His most memorable thread is Minks Jolly Good Adventure that he co-posted with Lord Woock

He also became the Guildmaster for the Guild Of Pixelartists

But he wasn't just a doodler of doodles, Daddy participated in threads all over the board, from the Library to the Other Side.

Lately we don't see enough of Daddy.....COME BACK WE MISS YOU!!

Aculias

Since joining HC December 19, 2001 Aculias is known for his big heart and sometimes just as big temper

He has posted in just about every forum, and is always one to try to make things better: his old sig "Dreaming of a Better World" says it all.

Aculias told us a lot about himself in theDownhill Times thread, a fine example of the level of honesty you can expect from Aculias when he posts and to see how he feels about the HC check out this one

Sometimes his posts may seem harder to understand () but once you get the gist of it, you know Aculias is one of the kindest, most loyal people here!

Bort

Where to begin? Since joining on July 11, 2001 Bort has become one of the best loved members in HC. I don't believe there is anyone who has had more posts revived after a year or so of dormancy than this guy. The reason? People just can't get enough of Bort's wicked sense of humour, and it never gets old! The moderators love him too, he has accumulated 23 quality points in his 1000+ posts here so far.

Choosing just two of his threads to display won't really do him justice at all - so if you're interested in seeing some real Quality Posts, check his profile and take a look at where he has recieved QP's.

For the lazy, I'll give you two anyways. The first - perhaps one of the most logical suggestions for the future of Heroes Simplify...Man. Ubisoft! Listen up! And another I was full of angst until I realized how darn attractive I am Bort shares with us a story of his past depression, and how he ultimately overcame it.

Dingo

Our resident God of Dark SPAM of has made spamming a way of life! Since May 17th 2003 he has posted 2582 times that remain right now - but if you take into account how many posts he's lost in the wastelands, that number may be well in the millions.

He does post more than "This thread belongs in the Wastelands..." sometimes, and you can see that in various RP's in the Glade, as well as in the Otherside of the Monitor - and sometimes the tavern.

Examples of his non-Spam posting are The Best Day of your Life in the Other Side, and Look for him in Lets Have War in the Glayde. If you'd like to see the spam, check out the Volcanic Wastelandsforum!

Lich a.k.a Lich_King

This former mod is no longer as active as he once was in HC, but once in a while he still appears to share his little rays of sunshine with us

As a moderator Lich always worked hard to keep the forum a great place, and he is sadly missed!

An avid HoMM fan, Lich was always one to share his ideas and wishes for the future of the game, as you can see in this thread - and we know that he loves the elements as seen in this thread

Hopefully when Heroes 5 does come out we'll see more from Lich again!

Check out his PP for some photos

Edit! He's back and modding again No more sadness, only sunshine *grin*

LichKing

While I'm doing Liches, I figured I would add another of my favorites

LichKing's profile lists his location as in his own little world, and if you read some of his posts you will see that he's not kidding - and after reading a few more, you'll want to go there too!

This guy is one funny sonuvalich, and his posting style never disappoints. There is more to the Lich than the haha's though, he is also an active volunteer in the Tournament of Honour, and can be seen often helping members over in the ToH forum.

For a taste of what LichKing's humour is all about, I will offer two of his threads - but when you've got the time and need a smile - take a look at his profile and read though some of his old threads and posts

Why LichKing should be elected He's got my vote!

and another :

the best laid plans... a few posts down in Bort's thread "Why do elves keep filling my underwear with Butterscotch syrup?"

Rychenroller

Rychenroller joined Heroes Community March 18, 2001. His posts can be found just about everywhere across the boards, many are in ToH and Library. Rychen is an extremely stong HoMM player so when he posts in the Library , pay attention It's a little known fact that Rychen is at fault for the whole "tosser" phenomenon! Another little known fact would be what his signature "Myctteakyshd" actually means! I think I may be the only one who knows (",) hehe.

Here's a little bit more about Rychen from the man himself inToH Player Profiles. And one more from the Library where the Aussie discusses another side to online HoMMing, Mind Games

Crikey!

Redsoxfan3

Here's another former HC Moderator, Redsoxfan joined us on November 5, 2001 - he has posted under quite a few names, and for the sake of simplifying - let's leave it at that If you're curious, its not hard to figure out, look for variances of RSF!

Aside from the 'Unfortunate sanity lapse of Winter 2004" Redsoxfan has been a model member - you can find examples of this if you check out any of the 27 posts he has recieved Quality Points for!

Redsoxfan is always someone to help keep the community going- either through creating games, new threads or sharing his views on the community. He is the creator of the MYT game in the tavern.

RSF is also a writer, and you will find that the Glayde is a forum quite close to his heart. Check out his storytelling skills in this thread Edwin

Even though he isn't a moderator any longer, RSF is still a big part of making the community better

Asmodean

Asmo joined HC on 9 January 2004. (about the same time I did, which is why I dare write this)

If you're a noob, you are likely to recognize Asmo at first as "the gay mod". But under the guise of a professionally engaged moderator, hides a guy who's just been too busy lately to post as a member due to his awaken (mildly-belated) academic interest in biology. Like any Irish out there, he shares with them the love for intoxicating beverages. Like a handful of Irish forming the band U2, he's very talented in making music and singing, and we've got a proof for that right here. He can most often be found in Tavern, the Glade, and occassionally all around the board. He likes doing RPGs, especially Lets Have War.

Asmo looks like a fun-loving guy, sharp wit and easygoing attitude. (ah well, at least to me! )

Conan

Conan joined HC on October 5, 2004. (A few weeks before I did.) He had this as his first Avatar, until he was able to reserve his own:

Although he's only been around for a little over 6 months, Conan has made an impression on HC in his own very special way. Besides his interactions with Jebus & myself, Conan has made lots of cyber-buddies here and has also been there to help new people when they are lost. Although things didn't start off so 'rosey', due to some heated run-ins with Sir_Stiven & Aculias, Conan has always found ways to turn arguments into friendship building experiences...as is true with the people mentionned above.

He can often be found learning things about HoMM3 in the Library of Enlightenment and also sharing his knowledge about the game with others. He has taken it upon himself to update & maintain the Library - Table of Contents (Updated) on a regular basis, which proves his dedication to helping others.

He can also often be found discussing serious themes in the Tavern of the Rising Sun or in the Other Side of the Monitor, as is evident with his creation of the Threads: Philosophy question over a glass of beer anyone? & The Spirituality Thread.

Don't let his short fuse & serious manner intimidate you though, Conan is really a nice & funny person once you get to know him (on HC or in RL)...and he's always willing to meet new people!

terje_the_mad_wizard

Terje joined HC on December 10, 2002. (A few years before I did. )

He might seem like a hardcore Socialist to the average HC member, but beneath that outspoken & passionate personality, lies a friendly spirit & a creative mind.

Although you'll usually find Terje having interesting discussions about serious issues or sharing quiet moments of refelection in the Tavern of the Rising Sun or in the Other Side of the Monitor, he is also very active in many Volcanic Wastelands Threads.

Let me give you some examples of this:The Socialists Lounge, China, & Yet another The Person Above Me!!!.

By using creative & interesting Posts, Terje is the kind of guy that doesn't ruffle too many feathers, but still manages to get his message across loud & clear.

Svarog

I figured that while I was doing Socialists that I would add one of my favourites.

Svarog joined HC on December 30, 2003. (Over a year before I did.)

Now here is a guy who knows what he is talking about!...or at least he's good at making you believe that he knows what he is talking about. That explains why he has so many red stars and why he won so many HC Awards for '04!

Don't let his boyish good looks fool you, Svarog is a dictator of debate, who enjoys taking on challenging subjects and sharing his opinions with anyone who will listen. He also enjoys welcoming new people into these discussions and usually absorbs what they have to say with an open mind.

Although he usually has lots to say about the economy or politics, Svarog also likes to explore subjects like human nature & spirituality. As he is never one to shy away from answering the question "Why?", you'll often find Svarog in the Other Side of the Monitor contemplating the meaning of life. Such is true here: Existentialism.

Svarog is also a very involved member on HC. Not only can you find him Posting things just about anywhere, at any time...while finding an interesting way of adding something to any given Thread...he's also creating "off-the-wall" Threads himself. This is obvious with his Tavern of the Rising Sun masterpiece Karaoke bar.

If there's one thing that you can remember about Svarog, it's that he is a patient person, who is always willing to repeat his message numerous times until someone either understands it or agrees with him...wait, that sounds more like stubborness.

tigris

tigris joined HC on May 12, 2003. He had this as his Avatar for a while, until he was able to reserve his own:

Although he started off slowly here on HC (which he admits himself), he has recently come alive as a productive member with lots of insight and the will to help others. This can be seen through his numerous Posts in the Library of Enlightenment, where tigris spends most of his time.

Whether he's earning QPs for assisting Conan, speaking out in Library Feedback, or sharing his opinion of HOMM3 Tactics, tigris is as ready to help others, as he is ready to learn.

Nowhere is this more obvious than through tigris' presence in the Tavern of the Rising Sun...where, he helped establish 2 Threads aimed at helping new players enjoy their online experience here at HC & also playing HoMM3. He did this through the n00b tournament(s) & The Mighty Alliance (noob and vet tourney).

Don't let his nOOb status fool you though, tigris has been "lurking" around HC for a while and has many tricks up his sleave...but you can always expect him to willingly welcome you and share all that he knows, without hesitation.

Sir_Stiven

Sir_Stiven joined HC on December 3, 2001. (A few years before I did.)

The way I see it, he is a guy that demands only 2 things from people: #1 - Respect & #2 - Equality. Considering how serious & important those elements can be on HC (and in real life for that matter), it's no surprise that Sir_Stiven can sometimes be the center of intense discussions. You can see what I mean in the More Incentive for Five Star Members Thread.

As for respect, when it comes to Sir_Stiven, you have to earn it. One way to do that, is to read his Posts & learn as much as you can about a topic before replying to him. If you say something that doesn't make sense or that you can't back up with proof...expect to be called out on it. Some people might be offended by this, but when you get down to the root of the issue, Sir_Stiven is simply trying to make you a better Poster and a better member of HC.

In addition to being strong-willed and determined, he is also a very funny & creative person who has masterminded many great Threads and kept other good ones alive too. One such example of this, is his involvement in the ever popular Tossers tavern - free for all friends.

When it comes down to it, if ever you hear Sir_Stiven tell you to read his Post one more time before replying to it, don't feel bad...everybody at HC has heard that from him at some point or another.

Angelito

Angelito joined HC on February 15, 2003. He must have treated his wife very well that Valentine's Day, because he quickly became a very respected Member, and is now a hard-working Moderator.

Angelito made his mark, here at HC, by helping new members & HoMM3 players set up their online games...myself included. He would tirelessly repeat himself many times and explore different options with new online players, until all of their problems were resolved. You'll see what I mean if you check out How can i solve my online-gaming problems exactly?.

More than that, Angelito is always willing to share his knowledge of online gaming with new players, in an effort to help them improve. Whether he does this through theoretical means, as you can see here: How do the logistics and pathfinding skills work exactly? or through practical means, as you can see here: The Mighty Alliance (noob and vet tourney); Angelito is a person that makes newcomers feel welcome and is always willing to lend a helping hand.

It's no surprise then, that he was practically forced by numerous members into the role of Moderator, after the Library of Enlightenment became neglected. If that didn't demonstrate how much Angelito is appreciated & respected, here at HC, then I don't know what would.

IYY

IYY joined HC on July 31, 2002. (A few years before I did.)

Oh God! I can't believe that while I was doing the HC Socialists that I forgot to showcase IYY, as well. When I think about it though, it makes perfect sense that I would miss him, because of his quiet demeanor & insightful personality.

As Theodore Roosevelt said, "Walk softly, but carry a big stick!" In my opinion that saying appropriately describes IYY's character, as he doesn't make too much noise on HC, but when he speaks, it's usually meaningful, important, or very interesting. You can clearly see what I am talking about in his I hate stupid people Thread, from the Other Side of the Monitor.

When you get past all of IYY's ideology or his intellectual ramblings , you can easily discover that he is also a very talented artist. He has shown this side of himself, in the Tavern of the Rising Sun, numerous times and has rarely failed to impress. If you look through his creations in the Guild of Pixelartists or listen to his rich voice in the Karaoke Bar, you'll see what I mean.

But, before I finish describing IYY to all of you, I should point out that he's proud of his long hair and seems to consider himself as God's gift to women...so, take everything he says with a grain of salt! Or, you could just call him IVY.
