It's very good that someone finally works on the Heavenly Forge =]
I'm just looking forward to the day when you'll release this city. Can't wait!

But I want to say, that town screen isn't something big, you can see almost the same screen reading the interview with Greg Fulton, so it's very raw for me. Show more screens, and I will fall in love with this project xD

Keep it up.

Tarnoob, I wouldn't use M&M VII maps for reference, as they are messed up: Tatalia, which is a swampland, is covered in snow and Bracada, which is a snowy highland, is a desert in M&M VII, so it's very inconsistent with the real geography of Antagarich, as seen in HoM&M III and the official maps:

http://bloggingheroes3.blogspot.com/2011/04/antagarich-map.html

Now, there's some kind of water north of Deyja but it cannot be classified as a sea, as it has no connection to the ocean... it's probably a large lake.

Hello everyone again!

At the beginning of this post I would like to say "thank you" for your good words about our project. After those months it's really cute to hear words of appreciation for our town.

Second thing will be some new informations about the Heavenly Forge that we are all waiting for. There were several annoucements of the project posted by me and my friends on biggest Heroes of Might & Magic websites on Polish internet. There were several questions and I made several answers. Notice that not every question could be answered - I will post more informations on this forum when it will be good time for it.

On my first post in this topic I forgot to tell you about music in our modification. So now it's perfect moment to say, that Paul A. Romero himself is author of the 5 tracks that we will use in Forge! My teammate mailed to him and received for free this music that is just beautiful. My friend told mr. Romero that we are group of fans that want to recreate a deleted town to Armageddon's Blade addon and reminded what was Forge like. This is not music from original Forge, I know it for sure, but it is still masterpiece.

I don't know if you noticed it, but one unit has been revealed. You may expected, that creature called android from Might&Magic VII: For Blood and Honor will be level 7 in our Forge. Here it is:

It'll be good to say that it is an upgrade. Tier seventh non-upgraded version has got a project already and its animation is under construction. Also, the situation between two creature's levels will be similar to the titans. As you may noticed there is a laser thing under body. It means that upgraded version will have an ability to shoot.

Now it's time to several answers:

Quote:
Though I wonder, do I have to install WoG to be able to play this, and will it replace the Conflux?

Today I can say that you will need WoG to play the town. I want to create something like a brand new addon, something that has been done in Modern Forge. Unfortunatelly, our progamist does not have enough skills to create it. But well, Forge is not ready yet so everything could be changed. As I said, I would like to release town firstly as the new addon, and secondly as a patch to WoG modification.

Going back to the problems at linie Conflux-Forge situation is similar. Our programist cannot add new town so we will replace it. But do not worry, I hope that one day when VCMI's authors will proceed on their mod we will be able to play both Conflux and Heavenly Forge.

Quote:
You'd reveal more pictures per our request? Well, here's one: please show us more pictures

As I said, in time there will be more pictures from game, arts or units. Just look sometimes here, on this topic and search my posts.

Quote:
Now, if I may say so, while the original town screen looks grimly beautiful, the lighthouse seems slightly misplaced, given the fact that it is used to guide ships and Deyja is completely surrounded by land;

Near Deyija was some kind of great lake. Thank you Tarnoob for posting image. Going back to the problem, I agree that in the Forge there is a lighthouse, but in Deyija there is no sea, but look at this town from the other way. It has got evil, destructive and quite imperialistic character. Forge can conquer new terrains and gain a link to the sea/ocean. What would it be like, if ancient technology could make miracles, but not build such primitive structure like lighthouse?
Also, you can make brand new building, post it here and maybe we can use it. It is easier to talk about something made by team, but harder to make from scratch new building, model it in 3D, edit in 2D and place it on the townscreen.

I'd like to say "thanks" to Tarnoob for posting Deyija map from Might&Magic VII. Thank you also for good wishes. If you look closer to Ivan's avatar then you will see portrait of Kastore that will be used in our modification's gameplay (as special campaign hero).

Quote:
But I want to say, that town screen isn't something big, you can see almost the same screen reading the interview with Greg Fulton, so it's very raw for me.

Looks raw you say? So make it yourself, then add to game and try if it is playable in 100%. Think also about being faithful to the original concept, then you can say that something is raw. As I said before, it is easier to criticise something when you are not doing it yourself. I can add to it also no arguments, becouse telling me and my team that our town looks is so similar to that posted several years ago by original creators is a big compliment.

In the end of this post I just want to tell you, that I won't rather answer to more questions in the next few days. Small amount of time is the reason and I think it will be better to work on town than to write a lot on the forum.

Although stay mobilized, becouse If I would not write huge posts like this, I can still post some new things, like two or three artworks created by vanBhradok. Later or maybe tomorrow I will do it, so stay tuned.

This is... breath-taking! Absolutely brilliant!

You actually got Paul Anthony Romero to compose themes for the Forge... and not one, but five! I was going to make that suggestion, but I'm so glad that you already did and that he's been so cooperative.

Kastore will be a special campaign hero? Sounds like what the original campaign was meant to be, which is excellent, especially if get to play the Forge in the campaign, rather than playing against it.

Don't let the guys with the "raw screenshot" nonsense bother you... It was designed by Phelan Sykes and is quite complete - the gloomy, flat background adds a lot to the Forge's whole feel and the buildings are splendidly designed.

Now I know why I thought, at first glance, that the Lighthouse was misplaced - it's way too close to the Tesla Coil, which reduces the artistic impact of both. If you could somehow fit in a Shipyard and then the Lighthouse beside it...

The level 7 unit: Seeker/Sentinel/Assassin Droid from M&M VII; again, I like that it was chosen as the top unit, but to keep with the original Forge unit names, I'd simply rename it Juggernaut/Dreadnought.

Once again, bloody well done, Manigoldo, your team is this project's brightest hope ever! I will anxiously anticipate every new update. Good luck!

That's just goddamn incredible.

Not to shine a pessimistic light on things, but I hope you will release this music to the community if your project ends up in stasis like others have done.

Ok lighthouse is worthless. Not much action in sea and too primitive. Just rename it to Research Tower. So it may give experience or atack. Nanomedic's Tent sounds too advanced maybe Repair's Tent or something.

I found some time to write new post. Frankly I wanted to do it earlier today, but nevermind. It's good that I can write it today at all.

Quote:

Of course Phelan Sykes did perfect work. The look of the Forge gives to the public exactly full character of town. Quoting you, it's "the gloomy, flat background" which is just breathtaking.
Going back to those who call my team's job as a something raw, I don't care. We made it from benhur's package and even with those buildings inside it wasn't as easy as it looked like on the first look or it looks like on our screen. Basically as I said before - if somebody wants to be famous to say about townlook that it is raw, then why he didn't took those buildings, made defs, implemented them into the game and made it all fully playable to make "raw screenshot similar to old one". Frankly for me it is a good word that we were able to make something that is so close or even similar to that old, legendary screen.

Quote:
Now I know why I thought, at first glance, that the Lighthouse was misplaced - it's way too close to the Tesla Coil, which reduces the artistic impact of both. If you could somehow fit in a Shipyard and then the Lighthouse beside it...

I tried to do something and I agree that two towers (Tesla Coil and Lighthouse) being too close can reduce the final outlook of both. I will think about something new with my teammates. Paradox is that it's easier to model something new, for example new building, than place it in a good place on the Forge.

Quote:

Using a model is not equal to use it's name. Of course the name's will be as we could notice in the New World Computing's concepts, I mean Juggernaut/Dreadnought. And that's a good moment to uncover something new! As we know, In The Wake of Gods expansion gave us 8th level of creatures. We won't be worse and we also have it already done. Our graphic posted project, then fully animated it. Unfortunatelly, we must polish it a bit before adding to game, becouse now it is not possible. Going back to this creature, it's name is Destroyer and you can see it (the project) below. It will be very strong and notice that we did not want to repeat style from other 8th level creatures such as only recolouring upgraded level seventh.

Just look and tell me what do you think about it.

Quote:

Cool, but just look at what you are writing about. Research tower that looks like lighthouse and sounds so high tech will be responsible for building ships? And it is so easy to say "it may give experience or attack" , but tell me how to change any properties of town's shipyard. And where would be shipyard then? Don't be offended, but things that you are talking about are unreachable in our situation with our current programist and if even yes then it would be so hard to make.

You are suggesting also changing the name of the Nanomedic's Tent. Quite good proposition, but if you want me to be honest I want to delete this building and made another version of it in 3D. It may be a tent, but I don't know yet what it would be like. I will inform you here if there will be any news connected with Nanotent.

Quote:
WHAT? Lighthouse is great...

Thank you revolut1oN for good words about this building.

Now it's time for best part of this post. New content is waiting to be uncovered! Today you could see already Destroyer, but now I'll show to You artworks made by vanBhradok, the viceleader of the team.

Capitol.

Castle (artistic impression).

Kastore (artistic impression).

I will end this post with some sad words about project. As I told you before we do not have excellent programist and we cannot add the town. We can just replace Conflux and to its place add The Heavenly Forge. My team can't also delete buildings or change it's properties such as decreasing Mage Guild to 3 levels (as original planned; notice that there are 5 levels in Conflux).

There is also the problem with the siege... we have already done the walls of Forge, but when testing it we noticed a problem. The game crashed. Why? Becouse of shooters. In the Conflux it was no problem, becouse it used upgraded t2 creatures - storm elementals. In the Forge situation is a bit complicated, becouse cyber-undeads are our second level (like it was in the original concept) and they can't shoot.

It was a hard decision, but I think that You must now it. For the moment we have been forced by the game (by the Conflux ) to make a swap. From that moment untill we will find any solution, goblins will be taken from level 1 to level 2, and cyber-undeads will be degraded to level 1.

To make situation happier, look at the zombies that we are using in our Forge. You may have seen them already on this forum. If I remember correctly user named Hobbit is it's authot and of course he has been mentioned already in the credits as a person who was not in team, but helped to make Forge. If you are reading this - thanks!(well I know, I said it in past but we do not need for a moment new teammates )

In the next "controlled leak" you can expect a screen. It will contain Forge and hero on the map including hero's name, portrait and his army of goblins. If zombies are revealed then maybe they can protect a mine or something, dunno yet.
I can say also that you'll be able to read the biography of this hero. I don't want to destroy the fun of waiting so do not be angry if I don't even tell you the name of him.

Cheers!

Well done, the artworks look great

I'm glad you decided to make a different 8th level unit instead of just changing its color, and indeed it looks like an mightily enhanced Assassin Droid, but I think you should slightly change its color - the majority of its body is golden, which makes it shine and thus stand out from the other units... but than, that may be what you wanted anyway.

I think I have a solution for the siege screen problem that avoids changing the Goblins'/Zombies' level. How about putting towers with enclosed shooting spots - where we can't see the shooter - than you could make them fire blaster bolts which would give the appearance of Goblins being inside.

Anyway, don't worry, changing the levels of the first two units isn't such a big deal, so if you find no other solution, go for it.

Can't wait for that screen...
