----treasure-----

Yes u can.

"Fight misplaced guards" is a rule to prevent a player from getting artefacts, pandoras boxes, prisons and such without a fight. And also for not being able to pass bye into a new area without fighting this guard.
No1 cares about a chest or a pile of ressource.

No-one cares? scenario 2 is lots of lizardmen guarding a marletto, a merc pile and a chest. The lizardmen are slightly offset so that the merc and gold can be retrieved but the marletto cant be touched...and you are inferno and struggling for merc. Clearly the lizards are guarding all 3 objects but the 2 *minor* treasures are gettable.

That is taking advantage of a misplaced guard too.

Kumas take would be similar to mine. On a medium to poor richness template it can make all the difference, say a pile of 5/6 precious resource when you are struggling for level 7 in week 2.

And the RMG puts in misplaced guards here and there...its a bug that shouldnt be taken advantage of. Hence that cant be tested.

this rule doesnt seem to be very clear since this discussion is getting longer so maybe we should get the person who made the rule in here and get their take on it

Its not a rule, its an aesthetic choice. A map bug shouldnt be taken advantage of but some people discriminate between the big stuff (arties/boxes/prisons etc) and the small stuff (gold/resources/chests). To me its all the same, dont pass the misplaced guard without fighting it.

Perhaps u got me wrong here. For me, an object which lays besides a guard is not obviously guarded by it, but is probably placed to fill the space between guard and other object. When u have a random map where monsters are set on strong, uŽll find all your mines guarded. Most of the time, the guard is placed in the middle and left and right lays a pile of that specific ressource. Are they "guarded" by them? To be honest, i never thought a second about that. For me, they are free to collect. If not, then i cheated many games i guess...

if its a chioce then one person must of thought of that chioce and decided to make it a rule in their game. but i dont think that a straight can be given about this though so i guess the only way to solve this problem is agree to what misplaced guards are at the start.

Are we talking only mines?

If we are talking a crystal mine with say, 2 piles of crystal either side of the crystal mine guard then yes, I take those always. The creature is NOT guarding the excess resource, just the mine.

The example I was talking about was different yeah, sorry

----mine----
arti-mon-res

arti and res is can be taken.

is taking the artefact a breach of the "misplaeced guards" rule

If a guard is guarding a mine but the resources are free to take, of course i will take it. I mean, they are guarding the mine, not the resources.

On the other hand, if they are guarding something like a chest or box, amd if u can pick up the item from walking around, leaving the guard guarding nothing, then, that will be a little unfair, and also weird, but what the heck, i'll fight a guard anyways, misplaced or not. Any extra experience is always welcome.
