pegasus

the pegasus are mysterious creatures in erathia.

for one they are recruited from the enchanted spring which costs 2000 gold and 10 crystal. now the question is "what is the crystal used for?". is it put on the bottom of the spring to shine or crushed and poured into the water to make it sparkle, i really dont get it.
this is not the only place for this, 10 gems for a labrynth and 20 crystal for a cyclops cave. these things dont seem to add up. and the most puzzling example of this is the serpent hive. it costs 5 wood (among other things) to create but why? if u look closly the hive is in a hollow tree so wouldnt u get wood not lose it.

and now to the next things about pegasus is their speed. if u compare the two pictures of the pegasus and the silver pegasus there are some things even the most dimwitted person could notice. to make this more clear what has the silver pegasus gained that the pegasus does not have:
1. the silver pegasus has gained some armor on the body
2. the lady on top of the silver pegasus has gained a better sword to the sword on the pegasus.
3. the lady on the silver pegasus is wearing a suit of armor
my point is that the silver pegasus has gained more wieght but can move 4 hexes further dispite the pegasus having the exact same build in both pictures. if u also look at the two minataur pic the same can be said

can someone, anyone, explain these 2 mysteries of the erathian world

Umm, the fancy equipment and stuff gives them lots of pride so they want to get closer to the enemy faster to brag about it sooner?

As for the structure costs...

You have to consider the fact that what you pay to get a structure built doesn't necessarily equal building expenses. Maybe those logs of wood or crystals or pile of sulfur is part of the workers' pay? (o_O)

What I would like to know is what do those devils need all that mercury for!

maybe they use it for som evil rituals?

As for the crystals I think that they collect it to build this pegasus-statue on the fountain.

Yeah, and why doesnŽt dendroids cost any wood? Diamond golems could use gems aswell. And it would be cool if youŽd get some gems/wood after defeating these creatures in battle..

History of Pegasi - Explained

The mythical race of Pegasi has long been allied with the Elves of AvLee. While not particularly known for their strength and durability in battle, the winged creatures are praised for their quickness and above-average scouting ability. Both the winged horses and their respective Elven riders neglect wearing heavy armor so as not to encumber their combat potential. The Druids of AvLee were largely responsible for the keeping and nurturing of young Pegasi during the early days of the Rampart townships. The creatures were given vast expanses of lakes and woodlands to dwell and take shelter in. During times of war, the Druids would lead groups of Pegasi to springs of enchanted water to hold secret magic ceremonies in the haunting moonlight. Moderate quantities of the rarest Elven crystals would be blessed and scattered on the waters to create a powerful magical aura. After reciting ancient incantations upon the springs, the Druids would proceed to bathe the creatures in the springs, imbuing the winged ones with power to encumber the vile magics of enemy spellcasters. Every so often, several Pegasi would emerge from the rituals with enhanced combat ability, in addition to the intended blessings. Those "gifted" ones are known as Silver Pegasi, referring to the glowing aura that surrounds such individuals after their magical baptisms. It has long been considered a great honor among the Elves to lead Pegasi (let alone Silver Pegasi) into battle. Trained to use swords in combat, graceful female warriors are called upon to use the Pegasi as mounts. After witnessing years of their faithful service to the many small villages that dot the countryside, AvLee military commanders often paid large sums of gold to augment the small Elven militias with flying calvary. The Pegasi continue to serve the Elves and their Erathian allies on countless battlefields, aiding in the ongoing struggle against the wicked Kreegans and the atrocious undead armies of Deyja.

I think it's like this.

The Minotaur is just the basic product of a sicko and a cow, who can swing an axe.

But to be a Minotaur King, you have to have super strength and fitness, enough to gain the speed and damage bonuses even when you're wearing the cool equipment.

Same for the (Silver) Pegusi.

LordZXZX, the building costs are what this thread is about

@ alloy

i think u may be right about the minatuar king but not the silver pegasus. the king is a king ofcouse but the silver pegasus is just an armored pegasus. maybe a pegasus queen or warrior would be more acceptable. after all what the hek is a silver pegasus?

Explained, kinda explained, and explained

Quote:

Labyrinth:
For the longest time, only Minotaurs could successfully navigate the dark halls of their mazes. Therefore, the Warlocks developed a way to keep visitors from getting lost inside by creating a sort of informative neon sign. By warping the mystical energies of precious gemstones into the stone walls of the Minotaur labyrinths, the Warlocks managed to craft shimmering runes bearing written directions in many different languages of the land. Upon deciphering these runes, non-Minotaur creatures can hope on following the runes' directional instructions to find the exit. That is, if the foul-tempered owners don't find them first...

Forsaken Palace:
I have no idea what the Devils would need all that mercury for. Perhaps, when drunk, the liquid builds up their hate and lust for battle. Or something to that effect.

Behemoth Cave:
Behemoths of ancient times were far more ferocious in battle than their modern counterparts. A bit of a problem there, isn't it? So the Battle Mages and Ogre Magi got together and pumped crystals into a nifty reincarnation spell. Simply, Behemoths are slaughtered and then brought back to life in their ancestral form.

those are some pretty nice explanations guitarguy, but there are many more monsters to find explanations for example the angel, monk, evil eye, serpent fly, gorgons, wyvren monarchs, efreet, vamp lords, dread knights, bone and ghost dragons. the list continues.

first of all great thread... also great posts guitarguy...

here is my take on a few things....

cyclopes--i always imagined the cyclopes being very cocky, since they are second best ranged shooter in game, and the only lvl 6 creature to brag about being able to shoot... cyclopes believe they have better arms than titans, for they can siege castle walls with their enourmous rocks. the greedy cyclops loves resources, this is why they guard such amazing loot in cyclops stockpiles.... crystal appeals to them the most for unknown reasons but they feel they are so special and unique 20 crystal must be put forth to honor their presence in the barbarian forces...

wyvern monarchs--the 10 merc is used for their poison.

minotaurs--good morale. they are cockiest creature in game in my opinion and expect gems to honor their presense in nighon...

beholders--in order to grow extra eyes or tentacles any resource can be used.... however, the warlocks of nighon decided one of each resource is better than spending a large amount of a single kind, as they know how important it is for their kingdom to save its resources for mage guilds which enables dragons to rise in the future...

The most simple explanation would be that it costs valuables (gold/rare resources) to recruit these creatures. That is, after all, what you do. You recruit them in mercenaries, which cost money. You don't expect them to work for free, do you?

Alot of these previous explanations seemed to be assuming that you need these resources to create the creature. If this is what happens, some of those explanations seem pretty logical.
And also most of the creatures would require some magic of one kind or another to create, maybe these resources are used to rot the flesh of the Bone Dragon, or give life to the Skeletons or Golems, or mutate a being into the Minotaur or Manticore or Blood Hound, or make the poison of the Medusa or Hydra or Gorgon etc.
