Quick & Easy?

Since it is a circle (perfectly round assumed), you do not have to 'line it up' when closing.  It fits any way you place it when closing, unlike any other shape, where you have to rotate and line up edges?

Because the manhole is also circular and it is the easiest (and most natural) thing in the world that the lid is also circular. I think the key word was the lid.

In fact this argument stems from my previous guess (as a benefit implied) since the circular lid having minimum area among all shapes would lead someone to make circular manholes so as to utilize the area (or volume if you prefer) that can be covered by the lid. That way the lid has to be circular ... Not to mention that screwing would otherwise be impossible!

Hmm...

How about this...You can roll it!  (Those suckers are heavy, so if its a circle, you don't have to lift it off the ground to move it!)

$10.

You started with 20, then you went up 5 to 25. Then you went down 10 to 15, then you went up 15 to 30. You were alternating going up and down, by multiples of 5.

Therefore the next one you would have to go down by 20, making it 10.

Oh, I thought I had it

Well in that case, we don't have enough information to tell the price. You don't say it has to be underwear from your shop, so it could be any price, and even if it was I can't see any way of telling.

I thought TA was correct. Anyway, my first guess posted:
45
because underwear is in between torso and legs. The amount of money for things that lie on torso is 65 and the amount of money for socks is 25 (total for legs). Underwear is in between these two and I guess its price is as well. Therefore I choose their average.

$45.

Because for each letter in the word, it is worth $5.

Tie has three letters so it is $15 and socks are five so its $25, underwear has nine so it's $45

1, there must at the least be played 1 game for there to be a winner.

^_^ Just a weak guess..

My other idea is to divide the number 567 with 2, several times..

You didn't say if these matches were knock-out or not, so I guess I 'll have to distinguish cases. Moreover, I know little about tennis and for that reason I 'll try to fit some elements from chess tourneys in that one. I assume that every person that wins a game in the tourney gains 1 point and every person that loses one game receives 0 points to his/her overall score. Moreover, I assume that players with the same amount of points generate pairs between them.

An observation on the number of rounds:
You need 10 rounds in the tourney in order to have one sole person in the top with 10 points in 10 games. The reason is obvious, since players with the maximum number of points are halved on each round and hence the solution for the number of rounds is the logarithm with base 2 on the number of the participants in the tourney. Hence the solution is: #rounds = ceil (log_2 (567) ) = ceil ( 9,147 ) = 10.

An assumption for both cases:
Usually on tourneys, when the number of people is odd, one of them receives a BYE on some round, meaning that he/she receives a point without playing. But I think this is not counted as a game, since no game actually occurs. Right?

First case - No knockout matches in the tourney:
Since the tourney lasts for 10 rounds and I assume that no participant withdraws, then the number of games played are simply: 283 * 10 = 2830 games.
(10 BYEs occur, but do not affect the way on top, since they are given to weak players, i.e. on of the players with minimum points so far).

Second case - Knockout matches in the tourney:
In this situation I 'll try to be as simple as possible and not use recursion but simple enumeration. All we have to do is to determine how many matches are required in order to have 1 person in the top at the end of the tourney (with the conjuction on BYE term).

01st round: 283 games. (284 people with 1 point - 1 BYE).
02nd round: 142 games. (142 people with 2 points).
03rd round: .71 games. ( 71 people with 3 points).
04th round: .35 games. ( 36 people with 4 points - 1 BYE).
05th round: .18 games. ( 18 people with 5 points).
06th round: ..9 games. (  9 people with 6 points).
07th round: ..4 games. (  5 people with 7 points - 1 BYE).
08th round: ..2 games. (  3 people with 8 points - 1 BYE).
09th round: ..1 game.  (  2 people with 9 points - 1 BYE).
10th round: ..1 game.  (  1 person with 10 points).

So the total amount of matches is (...performing calculations. Please wait ... ) : 566 games.

P.S.: As I said, BYES are not counted.

Perhaps a simpler explanation for knockout games:
Well, you might notice that the actual number of games played is equal to the number of players minus one. This is not incidental since in order to distinguish the best player among N players can be done with (N - 1) matches. The key idea to realize that one, is to face the decision you have to take when a new player pops up on a group of people and claims that he is the best among them. You can simply verify his/her sayings by setting only one game: Between the best player of the group so far and the challenger. Oh, by the way, you can distinguish the best player among 1 players, with ... 0 matches. Hope this one is simple enough.
