He dipped his finger in the soup of the first bowl and then "marked" this bowl by lifting it up a bit and "touch" the bottom with his "soupfinger".
When he got the second bowl, he lifted it again and saw or feeled the small piece of soup on the bottom..

remember
i knew it was the same soup just with the fly taken out, not the same bowlu are trying to find out a way to tell if the same soup came back. the bowl has nothing to do with it. if u read my last post u would have realized this.
with this said, darktitan u are wrong since we are looking for the same soup not the bowl. and angelito u are also wrong because the waiter may have poured the soup into a different bowl or felt the dab of soup and wiped it. it may haved worked but not always. i'm looking for a way to know its the same soup 100% of the time.
darktitan and angelio u have 1 guess left each

nope. again u must have a way to know its the same soup 100% of the time. it would work if the soup was cold but if its hot then what are u gonna do.

this one isnt the hardest one if u just sit down and think. but if u guys cant get it by this time tomorrow i will tell u the answer and we will move on so make a guess by then.

im not sure if this counts as my second guess, but i believe my answer may still be right.
If the man salted the soup before he started eating, which it said he does (start eating i mean), and then he found the fly, if he requested a new bowl or whatever, and he recieved the same soup, he would know that the already salted soup is the same..
Therefore proving that it is the same soup, not necessarily the same bowl minus the fly.

i will not count that as a second guess but tell me if this helps. the bowl of soup was given to me a moment before it could be salted so every other bowl of soup was salted properly but mine wasnt. so if i did recieve a new bowl i may have mistaken it for the original bowl thinking that all bowls were unsalted when only mine was unsalted.
plz give me another shout if this doesnt help

Yes, i understand where you are coming from, but if i was to salt it alot because that is how i like my soup, and then try it, then realise the fly, i would know the exact taste, and when i get the soup back, i would realise it was already heavily salted, and therefore is my original soup.. The chef would never put too much salt, in fact they put hardly any because some people cant eat salt..
sorry I dont mean to break your balls over this btw..

ok lets say the chef puts in 2 pinches of salt into every bowl of soup and thats exactly how u like ur soup so u when u taste it u know its perfect. what then???

OK...Here's my guess...
I think that when you said 'fly', perhaps you were referring to the word fly itself, such as letters that would be found in a particular type of soup...Alphabet Soup. If you asked to have the 'fly' removed and the waiter returned with the F's, L's, and Y's still there, then you would know that it was indeed not the same bowl of soup.

first off khayman u are wrong but not a bad effort.
ok svarog i'll just clean some things up:
-i want new soup
-i want a new bowl
-i want the fly taken out
-i didnt recieve new soup
-i didnt recieve a new bowl
-the fly was taken out
-i recieved the same soup in a different bowl
-how did i know that the same soup was returned to me?
-the fly is an animal not alphabet soup
when i said "i demanded a new bowl of soup and told the waiter to not take the fly out and return me the same bowl". it may be confusing but to me its sounds alright. i was telling the waiter not to do this(in italics). i am sorry but to me, him bringing me a new bowl of soup is already implied.
also when i said bowl i was meant to say bowl of soup
any more questions i can try to answer

lets just see if i understand
the guys was eating the soup. he thought it would taste better with a little pepper so he added a few shakes. when the soup came back the soup tasted different to before so is the same soup.

No... the soup tasted the same as the fly soup after he added seasoning. If it was to be the new soup that the waiter alledged, then it would not taste of any additional seasoning. Thus he knew it was the same soup
