next riddle
when WW1 had just started many soldiers wore only cloth caps. as the high numbers of head injuries became more apparent, metal helmets quickly replaced the cloth hats. but after the soldiers recieved the metal helmets the number of head injuries rose even higher. since the intensinty of the war stayed constant, how can this strange phenomenon be explained?

Maybe they got head injuries when they trying out the helmets.

the number of head injuries was higher when the helmets were wore because that period of time was simply much longer then when the helmets were not wore.

People would still sometimes get injured in the head, even with helmets. The number would still continue to rise after the metal has been introduced, they didn't start the counting over again, and it's not like it's a percentage.
Say, if with the cloth hats, 30 people got head injuries within the first 1 month of war.
Then, if they introduced the metal helmets, and 2 people got head injuries within the next month, the number would rise to 32.
The number of head injuries rose even higher, no?

Guess #1
With the cloth hats, head injuries more-often-than-not resulted in death. Therefore, on the casualty reports, death was listed instead of a head injury. Once the helmets were introduced, instead of dying from a head wound, more soldiers would survive impacts to the head, thus causing the number of head injuries reported to increase.
Guess #2
Use of the metal helmet caused soldiers to be more aggressive and less cautious when fighting, since they felt more protected and less likely to be injured. This increase in aggressiveness and lack of caution resulted in more injuries occuring than before, thus the number of head injuries climbed as well.

next riddle
being a magicain i am able to throw a pingpong ball so that it would go a short distance, come to a complete stop then reverse itself. i will not bounce the ball against any object ar tie it to anything. how do i do it?

You throw the ball up. The speed of the ball comes to a stop in a short while and gravity pulls it down.

throw the ball while giving it a spin. I can do that with a pingpong, and with a hoop or ring, too.

next riddle
once i was so oversome with depression i opened a 26th floor window and jumped through to the ground below. it was a sheer drop outside the building to the ground. somehow i landed on the ground unharmed. since nothing cushioned my fall or aided me, how could i have survived?

i have a collection of rare gems, art and antiques. i travel all over the world buying more of each. each time i negotiate for an item i always wear dark sun glasses regardless of the lighting. what is my reasoning behind this wierd behaviour?
