The Ultimate Battle

Pitching 9999 of each unit of Castle against the same of Inferno weilded some interesting results.

Here we see the before battle scene, where Castle is attacking first.
Both are might heroes, 0 experience, no spellbook and no skills. I place it on Auto Combat, so any results is up to the troops.

After the battle.
Castle, who went first, won by a long shot.
The Devils were no match for the Angels...
We all know that Castle units are stronger, but expensive, this pretty much shows it. It was a fun slaughter anyway.

This time, it's the exact same battle, except Inferno is attacking first.

After the battle.
Now this is what surprised me, how much of a difference defending vs attacking makes. It came down to most of the castle units against just the devils, and the devils held off them all

After both battles, the winning hero advanced 42 levels and completed the scenario with 223 points.
Omoshiroi! Just thought I'd share.

I dunno, it seemed like a good idea at the time! I was screwing around with the map editor.

well TA sorry to break it to you like  this but the AI is stupid!

Period.
So if you recreate that battle against a human player you'll be surprised to notice that the results may be exactly different

Wouldn't having 9999 of all units severely devaluate the lower level ones?

I was testing the power of the type of troops, not the skill of the player... Auto Combat was the best way to keep it constant.

Yeah, but at least both side's are devaluated

Well IMHO autocombat isn't as you say the best way to keep it constant. You see in a battle between Castle and Inferno it doesn't really matter who the attacker is unless inferno is on native ground or carying some speed arties. So no matter who will attack the AA will always strike first cos they will still have speed 18 and theAD speed 17.

IMHO the outcome differs just because of the AI stupidity. It imagines that "it" is in your corner like your personal trainer and "it" is doind it's best to make you win.Obviously this may mean some subjectivity sometimes.Even for a computer generated program.

Yeah, the AI is stupid alright, but the results arent like that because of its stupidity. What in fact this battle comes down to is lots of Archangels against lots of Arch Devils, since the rest of the units are too weak to play any part in the final resolution. In the first case castle wins because the AAs go first, in the second case Inferno wins because the ADs go first (native ground plus atacker). And thats all there is to it.
Its like you instead of 9999 create two armies of 10 crits each. Obviously 10 Pit Lords or Efreets are no match for 10 Archangels, and 10 Zealots or 10 Champions even are easy food for 10 ArchDevils, so u see that the tested battles are nothing special, except to satisfy your megalomania maybe.

If you take the weekly normal production of each troop for each town (removing the grail or any other production boosting structure) and multiply it by about 235, then you get the weakest creature near 10000 and the stronger creatures less. But that's not as fun.

So what if the results don't prove anything or have any meaning? It was cool. I like the pictures :-)

When the 9999 AAs attack the 9999 ADs, they kill quite a few, and lose a smaller number to retaliation. Then the ADs attack in return, and get no retaliation; so in order for the Castle side to win, the ADs must be killing fewer than half as many AAs each strike as the AAs did with their first strike; and what's worse, the Champions can't hit anything this turn but everything from the 9999 ES to the 9999 Familiars can attack the AAs. (9999 Familiars won't kill very many AAs, will they?)

Thinking of the battle that way, I'm surprised Castle wins by so much. I'll have to create one of these battles myself.
