Shortest game

On an XL random map, I have won in 17 days. It was pretty exciting, as the AI had a powerful magic leader with many spell points and a deadly magic arrow, but because my few fire elementals were immune to magic arrow, and because the walls of my citadel never came down, I survived the AI's best try at recapturing the town. For many turns, a dwindling stack of water elementals (large enough to beat me easily) sat just outside the moat, with the AI casting "cure" every turn.

I took the enemy town on day 10, and had to wait seven days for the end of the game. Surely somebody has won more quickly that that. I'd like to hear about it.

P.S. ::

One time I made a mouse-slip mistake in setting the parameters for a random map, and at the end of day 1, after all my careful moving and building, I hit end-of-turn and was told that I had won the game!

One day is the shortest possible, but you can't really count that...

That's funny stuff...playing the AI and then winning in 1 day...crazy stuff man!

Once, I won a game against a human player in 2 days...this was due to a badly generated random map.

Ironic, how similar the template name was to the loser's (unless you were playing a different one?)

Hahaha...my game was played on a pure random map...so, although I played against the HC member which shares the same name as a popular random template, we did not play on that map.

Did the human player give up when you took his town? Or lose his only hero trying to recapture it?

Nah, I don't think he'd be the kind of person to just give up

He didn't give up...I wiped out his few remaining heroes as he tried to recapture his town.

Now that I think about it, though, I didn't win on Day 2, I won on Day 3 as he was the red player...either way, I only got to play twice.

This other time, I was on the losing end of a quick random map game.

My opponent had a "tree-house lookout" next to his town and was able to see where my town was on day 1. He also had a shipyard nearby and was able to sail over to my town before I even saw him coming.

I eventually ran away in search of other towns, but died 7 days later trying to take over an abandonned town from a few Dwarves...

Eventhough the game didn't exactly end until some point in Week 2 or 3, it was already over at the end of Week 1.
