What is your happiest moment?

My happiest moment is the 1st time I got my income. Man I was nearly going to be mad. I did buy a lot of stuff at that time.

My happiest moment was, without any doubt, my senior prom night. I'd relive it if I had the chance. Honestly one of the best things I've ever gone to; especially since I was with one of the best people. Sigh. I miss how happy I felt.

Happiest moment recently:

Since completing my college credits in March and awaiting graduation in June, I've been applying for publishing internships.  There's a lot of competition.

One of the employers finally asked me in for an interview.  This was a couple weeks after the application deadline, so I'd given up on hearing from them.  At first, I was delighted to do an interview, then I panicked because it was my first one ever.  (My previous job "interview" involved making sure I was sober and would show up.)  To make matters more stressful, my mom, a self-proclaimed expert on obtaining jobs, informed me that the longer the interview lasts, the better your chances of getting the job.  I'm a shy person; I don't like prolonged conversations with complete strangers.  This situation didn't offer much choice.

The interview went fairly well.  It lasted 45 minutes, and nothing disasterous occured.  The employer was nice and did not bite.  She told me that they had recieved a lot of applications and narrowed their selection down to seven candidates for interviews.  She repeatedly said that she was going to have to make some hard decisions.  Okay, she was preparing me for a possible rejection while softening the blow by pointing out that I'd made the shortlist.  That was fine.  She mentioned that she'd make her decision by Friday.  I thanked her and left.  As I walked back to my car, I noticed that I'd forgotten to take the barcode sticker off my brand-new binder.  So much for attention to detail!

Friday came and went, and there was no call.  I delivered my cover letter and resume set to another publisher.  Saturday evening, the first publisher called me.  She said that she'd chosen someone else for the official summer internship, but she wanted to make a place for me and noticed that I said I was available immediately.  Would I be interested in a shorter, more compressed internship for a month?  Starting immediately?

Yes, yes, I would!    So, I am now at an internship, which is proving very educational, and I'll be available to get a second one this summer.  If not, I'll still have the experience for a real job.  That call was my happiest moment recently.

Dont mean to sound so stupid, but what exactly is an internship? Is it money, job, course or what? And why is it called publishing internship? U arent going to publish a book Khaelo, are u?
ps: I'm glad u had ur happy moment recently.

I had one happy moment today as well: They told me I'm going to Berlin for three weeks, but its only the end of August, so still a lot of time left.

The happiest time of my life was when my daughter was born - no doubt in my mind.

Aside from that, recently I was very happy when I learned I was on an eligibility schedule for the job of Procedural Clerk at the House of Commons of Canada. Then end up calling everyone on the list so I'm guaranteed a job and it's just a matter of time.

An internship is when you do work for free in exchange for experience and (hopefully) a recommendation.    Most of them are part-time, and most don't pay.  They're a notch below an entry-level postition.  However, an internship really helps when you start looking for a job.  Mine is in the publishing industry, specifically a local feminist newspaper/magazine.  It's hands-on experience with the work publishers do.  It's not writing books, although they do want me to contribute a couple of articles.  Mostly, I just do research, editing, fact-checking, and random tasks.  Yesterday, they needed someone with small handwriting reasonably similar to the Comic Sans Bold font.  Behold my amazing intern skills!

hehe. Wait, happiest moment is about to come in a week (i hope), but i'm gonna hold it otherwise I pee from happiness.
Berlin isnt that glamurous really. Its a volunteering project, and it also involves a small job having to do with doing up some WW2 graveyard. But its mostly the stay in the city that i'm after and yeah - expanding my german cerebra.

Berlin sure looks beautiful in spring.
I hope it will be as pleasing in autumn/late summer, Svarog.

After a beautiful weekend at my dad's cottage,
I'd have to say that my happiest moments were when I was young, spending 2 weeks at the cottage with my dad...

Spending 8hrs a day in the lake, playing GIJOE in the sand...  playing in the woods...  and of course the camp fires.

(i think im gonna sob)

A Day With Hugs

My happiest moment is each day that I wait to see my children when they wake up. I make them breakfast every day and while they eat, I wonder how long before I get the next hug from them. I ask for hugs all the time but when they come to me for one, then it truly makes my day worth living. Sometimes they want one early; first thing after they wake up. Sometimes they want one after lunch or when their mother comes home. And sometimes they want a soft warm hug at night after they've brushed their teeth and are lying in bed waiting to be read a story.

It's a peculiar thing that my life revolves around getting hugs now. It had never been this way before and I don't really remember having wanted a hug as much either. But now when people ask me what my happiest moment is, I tell them it's the hug moment. It's one of those things in life that I've come to grow very much accustomed to. I don't know what I'd do or where I'd be without them.

Personally, I have difficulties understanding those people who doesn't give their parents hugs. I hug them all the time - minimum twice pr. day - when I'm at home.
