I don't think it will actually come to a civil war, but I do think that she will be assassinated.  Then she will be a martyr for feminists or something like that.
I've been hearing several people (including a person that wrote into my local paper) say things like we need to put aside looking at race and gender when picking a president and look at the candidates.  The person who wrote into the paper was obviously implying that we should vote for Clinton.  People that say these type of things make it seem like you are a bigot if you don't vote for a woman (Clinton).  I actually do see things in a colorblind/genderblind (?) way.  Consis knows my main reasons for opposing Clinton.

Mvass, I noticed you pointed out their position on No Child Left Behind (NCLB).  I'm currently writing a paper on that topic and I had intended to post it here when it's done.  I just thought it was interesting that I'm not the only one around here with an opinion on it.

I think it would have been hilarious if Edwards had slipped up that way.

I Should Mention

I've done a fair bit of travelling in what some might call "A Man's World". I grew up in the cubscouts, Weblos, and boyscouts. I played little league baseball and high school football. I was a soldier in a job where women weren't allowed. And I was raised in the Mormon church where women are strictly forbidden from holding church positions of power. I can tell you with unflinching poise that it is no understatement when I say that some men I have met in my life have declared with a sobriety of dead certainty they will not serve a woman president.

As a female I have to say... I would rather vote for Obama then Clinton.  Right now if it came down to Clinton and a chicken, I'd vote for the chicken.  Don't get me wrong, I would love to see a female as President of the United States.  I don't know what it is, nothing I can put my finger on, but Clinton just seems..wrong for the job.  Oprah for 2012?  (hehe).  Anyhow, Obama does seem like somebody who would do a decent job, of course maybe the media has pulled the wool over my eyes.  It's been done before.  (Curse you Diet Mountain Dew and your 'taste just like Mountain Dew'!)

Oh don't remember exactly who, but some white billionaire (Not Perot or however you spell his name) may be running soon.  Maybe somebody with business sense would be a good thing, but he'd probably just line his own pocket, not Americas.

Face it, with the current system, only the rich or the richer have a chance of getting elected.  Heck, lets vote in Steven Colbert (or however you spell his name).  Somebody, anybody, besides Clinton...please.

Yes, and there are also large numbers of women who would not vote for Hillary simply because she's a woman.

And a little twist. There are also large numbers of New Yorkers who won't vote for her because she is NOT a New Yorker and they resent the hell out of it.

Are you talking about Bloomberg? Because it'd be great if he ran. I would support him.

For those who don't know, Bloomberg is the NYC mayor. He was a lifelong Democrat, but he switched to the Republican Party for the mayoral primaries since there were less people running in the Republican Party. Then he switched to Independent. His views: He supported the Iraq War, but now opposes it, though he is critical of what he calls the Democrats' "irresponsible" attempts to end it. For free trade. Pro-choice. For stem-cell research. Against legalizing marijuana. Supports gun control. Wants to protect the enviornment. Against high taxes. Against trade unions.

Overall, I'd support him if he ran.

*sigh*

The more I hear Ron Paul speak the more I find myself wishing to vote for him.

And I'm waiting for the local republican supporters to post what they thought of their latest debate. I recorded the event and took plenty of notes should anyone wish to discuss it. I'm open to commentary and ready for listening!

Seems like a typical chameleon. He has no defined path in his mind, changes parties like suits, and just tells people what they want to hear at the moment.
I base this solely on the info you just told, I don't know much else about him...

Oh and I've heard Obama's promising Bill Clinton a place in his cabinet if he wins... What's up with that?

While Bloomberg has changed parties to win, his political views are really not encompassed by either of the two parties, so he's better off as an independent. I'd vote for him.

Say Goodbye To Obama's Candidacy

It's all over. I saw this coming. It's all over for Barack Obama. Oprah has become his chief cog. I can't stop laughing. It is all over for his run to the whitehouse. Oprah should have kept to what she knows best: celebrity gossip, pop culture, fashion, and dismantling racism in America. I knew she had abandoned reality when she built that school in Africa after having said she was fed up with inner city schools here in her own country. I've been talking about Obama and Oprah for a long time now. I could smell it a mile away. I knew what she was thinking. She wants him to be the first black president. When it comes to the united states presidency it all boils down to one thing for her: skin color. It's that simple for her. And now everyone can see the truth.

I don't like Oprah. Having said that, I think that she actively came out in support of Obama at exactly the right time. If she came out earlier, she would be eventually seen as his main prop, and Obama would just be seen as another African American candidate. If she came out later, she wouldn't be able to have her full effect. But the way it is now, she will give him the boost he needs.

Do not underestimate Oprah.  I don't watch the show, but she is wealthy and powerful.  She has a cult like following also.  A lot of women will vote for whoever she wants them too.  Not only that, she can give him free publicity and airtime.  Far from being over because of Oprah, Obama has actually gotten a huge boost from her support.

Sad but true.  Though I would dearly love to see a black president, a female president, or even better...both (A black female president).  Still don't really want Clinton in however.  Too dodgy for me.  Even a greased up pig on rocket scates (on ice) isn't that slippery.

More like too shady.
I think it's more about the Americans. Lets face it, there is still racism & Prejudice in this world. History has made things the way it is.

Why many people hate Americans.
Most are idiots & the way they think sometimes makes me hate people just as much as when we drive our work van in the freeway lol.
No respect & no care about nothing.
History is to be read & learned about what how we changed & developed, not repeat mistakes.

I would rather live by the sword, not get bombarded

He may have gotten a boost temporarily, but Oprah may end up hurting him in the long run. She may cause him to lose his non-African American and non-female support. Obama is rather good, IMO, and I support him not because of his race, but using Oprah is borderline of playing the race card. And once he plays the race card, no one will think about anything else he ever said or did (other than his middle and last names (OMG!!! HUSSEIN OSAMA!!!!)).

Yep, she was harassing the wrong industries back then, no match was she to the companies that have the most lobbyist in the White House. Kinda like a single policeman going after entire mafia (hmm, that DOES work in movies though ) But now she is coming again, and has made renewing health-care system her primary goal as a President.

...you have no clue, you really are clueless.  You have no idea the clout that Oprah carries, how her appeal crosses all racial lines here.  She has never stumped for another candidate before, be they black or white.  You bring mention bs about this being racial, tell me what role she played during the candidacies of Jackson, Braun, or Sharpton.  They were all black.  Why didn't she throw her muscle behind them?  Could it be that she didn't believe in any of them personally and this is the first time she's been that impressed with a candidate she's willing to go to bat for them?

Oh it pains me to read your writing sometimes.  She didn't abandon reality to build that school in South Africa.  She has every right to spend her money they way she wants, and especially if its for charitable causes.  Who cares that she wanted to focus on Africa instead of the inner city?

I take back what I said before.  I can no longer in good conscience not call you a paranoid, race-baiting cracker.

This isn't Barack's death knell.  Its Hillary's.  And thank god for that.

Eh Actually.....

You have no idea the clout that Oprah carries

Here let me finish that sentence for you The_Gootch.

"You have no idea the clout that Oprah carries . . . IN CHICAGO."

You're right, I don't have any idea. Here's something I know for certain: The well-organized and well-funded conservative christian community (which is mostly made up of Mormons) consistently ignore the African American community. And the African American community habitually ignores the Hispanic American community. At one time Oprah appealed to elitist female christian protestants (which is bad for Hillary) and middle class southern baptists. That was before she chose to enter politics. Once you enter politics everything changes. Some people get happy while others get turned off. I'm predicting that her choice to support Obama will backfire for the candidate she has chosen. Americans are many things. One thing they hold the most sacred is that they don't let anyone dictate whom they should vote for. Too many wars and too many lives have been lost in the name of liberty for the common American to simply let some rich and famous moviestar talk-show host tell them how to vote.

The African American community is not so communal as many people think. They truly are as human as the rest of us. They are individuals who have their own ideas and opinions on how to move America forward. So-called black leaders are alienating themselves every time they open their mouths lately.

People of African descent are just as American as the rest of us and that means, just like the rest of us, they aren't about to let some pop-culture celebrity tell them how to vote. I truly believe that "We The People" has become the status quo for us. We don't like presidents who forge wars from conception to finish in the grand design of some mach recreational board game. And we don't like the rich getting richer while the poor get poorer. We don't like our news reporters being thrown in jail for keeping their sources secret. We don't like governments and hospitals telling us what to do with our bodies. We don't like taxes. We don't like the I.R.S. We don't like the United Nations. We don't like people coming to America illegally who never had any intention of integrating into our society. We don't like our jobs being shipped off to other countries for cheaper labor. Guns are cool but annoying from stupid punk kids and organized crime. With regard to natural disasters, we aren't simply in a state of dislike but complete distrust of government from the bottom to the top, from the city level to the top of the whitehouse. We know it's up to us "We The People".... to save ourselves if hit by an earthquake, a flood, a wildfire, or a tornado. Terrorists are st00pid, no really, they really and truly are the best in the world at pissing off everyone from their openly stated enemies, to the countries they originate from, to the their own brothers and sisters, and even their very own pet dogs and cats. All this and we Americans love our music, protect our children, electronics are cool, argue one minute and shake hands the next, sports rule, movies are sweet, sex & Rock-N-Roll (drugs optional), Canadians are actually fun to hang out with, British amuse us, France and Germany are going to die from too many nuclear plants but we'll remember them by eating cultural foods they claim to have been the first to discover. All those people north of Germany will give the world it's greatest shrinks for treating internet addicition--They'll probably send their shrinks to South Korea. China took a dump in a toilet somewhere and North Korea was discovered. Australians better stop partying too much and He-***** Man-slap those idiot racists poking their heads up--Better yet we'll send them Al Sharpton for TOTAL PWNAGE. India needs to stop building megacorporate offices on farms. China is all about China. Do they really care about anyone else? Russia who, who is Russia? I have an idea: let's all go golfing in Iran and maybe they can tell us about Russia. The future of humanity lies in Africa. South Americans don't think they are South Americans, they don't really know who they are, but they know it's hot all the time so let's sit for a spell and share a cup of Joe. Last week I saw some pictures of Mars. Has anyone seen Mars yet? I imagine there's gold and iron somewhere on the planet.
