JJ maybe you should contact Obama and telll him stop calling himself black. Obama considers himself black. Please refer to his memoirs, Dreams of my Father. Here are words you not hear from mainstream media that Obama wrote and spoke.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G7zAnZcJ4bI
From Dreams of My Father, " I FOUND A SOLACE IN NURSING A PERVASIVE SENSE OF GRIEVANCE AND ANIMOSITY AGAINST MY MOTHER'S RACE".
His mothr is white.
From 'Dreams of my Father', "The emotion between the races could never be pure..... the other race would always remain just that: menacing, alien, and apart."
From 'Dreams of My Father',
"I ceased to advertise my mother's race at the age of 12 or 13, when I began to suspect that by doing so I was ingratiating myself to whites"

Yes, the quote is good, even though it doesn't say anything about a history a word has.
However, I don't see what point you want to make with it. Quote: In the end, all differences that we perceive are interpretive.
Correct. So what does the fact that there is no difference perceived in skin colors beyond the white border signify?
@Elodin
Of course he does. What do you think does THAT signify? That he's a sick and ungrateful bastard? That he is black?
Maybe that he's always been treated as being (fully) black, feeling eventually that his white half wouldn't be worth anything in the white society and only be a useless weight keeping him from being "really" black, making it more difficult for him in the black?

I guess somebody reads this forum at BBC, because an interesting article just came there asking Is Barak Obama Black?
It is a viewpoint by Kimberly McClain DaCosta, a Harvard University professor.

Right. This is what I wrote on March, 12 in "the other" forum:
http://www.celestialheavens.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=8524&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=30
Quote: Obama will get the nomination, for he represents something REALLY new (other than Hillary who, you could say with some conviction, did already serve two periods, so making her president in name now might be considered something akin to cheating).
For that reason he'll win presidency as well, since he'll mobilize a lot of non-voters. If he (and Hillary) are clever, Hillary will resign herself, after Obama has a solid enough lead, and will then be nominated for vice presidency or some nice secretary of state office in Obama's gouvernment.

Anything less would have been foolish on President Elect Obama's part I believe. I am curious to see how difficult she'll be to control.

Control? Are you kidding? She's been something like president for 8 years. She'll RUN the thing. Experience. Cleverness. Political feling. SheÄll be invaluable.
Interesting comparison, btw. Compare the Bush/Condoleeza combo with Obama/Hillary. In hindsight, it might have become really interesting if Rice had run for presidency -z there seem to have been a lot of people who'd have been all for it. It's quite obvious that Obama would have had a much harder time against Condoleezza Rice.

not hard to beat palin though
on the Obama issue, I would say that Obama is of mixed race, because he is, but he is still the first black president.
Just because he's not 100% black (what is 100% black anyway) doesn't make this redundant.
Whether or not this is important is a separate issue.

The Clinton pick isn't scary because of Hilary. Her political career isn't over and she has the potential for another run at the top job once Obama's done, whether that's one or two terms. Who would be hard to control is Bill. He was never an avid Obama supporter always including caveats in his comments about Obama, always hedging and hmming and hahhing. Complicating the issue further is the Global fund Bill runs, which takes money from all sorts of foreign governments in order to further humanitarian agendas. A noble concept, but lots of donating governments might feel like they have some sway over internal American politics if they donate money to the husband of our Secretary of State.
All by itself donations like that would be fine, however if an adversarial country donates money to the fund, and Obama permits treaties of one kind or another with the same country, especially if Hilary is the go to ambassador, it'll be hard to deny interest pedaling. It could develop into a nasty political issue with the Clinton's such a high and sensitive position. Obama will have to play it close to the vest with the Clintons and with lots of transparency with the public in order to navigate some of the tense situations that could arise as a result of some of those deals.
I like the Clinton pick as Sec. of State, but it does add just one more dangerous shoal Obama will have to be aware of in an already tough 4 years as president.

Condoleezza has been asked to run for the highest office, but she turned the offer down. It's interesting to note that she already worked for the Carter administration - she was a Democrat then.
For the Clintons, well. I don't know whether you remember that, but in the primaries Bill was Obama's most insistent attacker. At the nomination convent, though, he switched tone and suddenly supported Obama enthusiastically...
So we may get Bill with Hillary - but would that be so wrong? I mean, Bill may have been unfaithful to his wife as often as the rain falls or just a couple dozen times, but as a president he seems to have led the US through a very peaceful and stable period, economically. Moreover, being able to rely on experience will very probably be an advantage as well.

According to the article, you failed to name one. His actions were declared unconstitutional but not felonious. The rest of the page appears to offer nothing but allegations.
