No. no relevanance
To Lith. No. Neither of them had travelled through time, and this is not relevant until part 2 of the mystery.
The auther is primarily a writer with a basic knowledge of many subjects of science. This was covered earlier.
To Rebirthing. No the book was destroyed and therefore all accumulated knowledge of time travel with it.

Ok Dodd, let me just confirm a few things before asking my next question, AND to help bring everyone else "get up to speed". 
- The book is written about Time Travel.
- The book's subject is dangerous.
- The author destroys the book because the person on the phone presented him with new information that was neither threatening, nor contradicting anything already written in the book.
Am I correct so far?
If so, was the new information (presented by the person over the phone) directly related to the "dangerous effect" that this book would have had if published?

Yes the book did reveal how to build a time machine, but this is not why it was destroyed.
CLUE Up to now you have all been assuming that the writer and the scientist on the phone are the only 2 people involved in the story.
