Just curious if anyone here has any interest in the up coming film of The Lord of The Rings??? Looks sweet to me how do you guys feel?

The film looks good. My wife is the one obsessed with tolkien and she has some problems with the casting of the female parts.
I kinda like the female parts.
December 19th decides the fate of all future fantasy films.
(was that too dramatic?)

A question whose answer I fear...
I've heard that Liv Tyler is playing the character of Arwen Undomiel (I don't want to explain who she is to avoid giving spoiler information to those who haven't read the books), but Arwen only appears in, let's say, a 2% of the book?? What I fear is that the screenplay writers will change and improve the importance of this character. Will they hire Liv Tyler for a five minutes contribution???
Changes in the story is the only thing I'm afraid of. Judging by the trailer, the cast and ambientation seems quite adequate for me. And anyway, I'll be there to see the movie and have my own opinion.

I think the Lord of the Rings movie looks cool...I didn't like Tolkien's books, though........they were too, hmmmmmmmm, I'm not sure how to describe it...Aha! They were too much like the book The Once and Future King. That book was long and boring.

Liv Tyler is exactly who my wife is worried about. (Yes it looks like I'm speaking for her, but she was so obsessed with these books when she was younger that she actually learned how to read the elvish alphabet, and I fear if these movie suck just a little I will not hear the end of it.) Her opinion is similiar to Silkmar's, Arwen is a minor character whose role seems to have been beefed up to apease a more mainstream audience that demands the increase of women's importance in society. I just think that Tyler likes the books and wanted to be involved even if she is only eye candy.

hey Oldtimer, did your wife learn Quenya or Sindarin? (no need to answer)
Liv Tyler is not much of an actress and I hope she can play the part of Arwen Evenstar without ruining the film (and yes she is eye candy)
Sikmar, there are going to be some changes in the script (more action) but I don't think they will spoil the film

LOTR is God!..... I mean good!
I love the books, but you can't have movie execs take a book and make a film from it without their own creative input. Like the "Planet of the Apes" remake. Hello! It was a remake you idiots, not a "creative reinterpritation". Dang, I wish the guy behind that would go back to making new movies and not retreads!
SPOILER ALERT!
Anyway, from what I know of the film so far, Arwyn's role has majorly been beefed up, and she is seen leading an army of elves (in Samuri armour) helping the battle of the caves of Helm's Deep, which definently didn't happen in the book. She is also rumored to be the one that helps Frodo when the ringwraiths are chasing him across the river... So she has majorly been beefed up in the story line!
END
But I still think it will be a great movie. They have spent over $600 million on it and they detail is so percise that Elvish armour has Elven runes on it, etc. I am majorly looking forward to seeing it!
