Statue and Grail

The Statue of Legion increases creature production by 50% (rounded down), not just for one towns but for all towns. In some ways this sounds better than the Grail, which only does it for one town, but in fact the Grail also gives you an extra 5000 gold per day to help you buy all those extra creatures (and gives other benefits).

The Statue doesn't need to be in a town to have its effect, but if it is in a town, that town gets the 50% for the Grail plus the separate effects of the Torso, Head, Arms, Legs, and Loins of Legion. So, what you usually want to do is to hire a Hero to stay in garisson in that town forever, and hold the Statue.

There's no advantage to making a second Statue. Might as well distribute the pieces in towns where they are most useful.

The Grail increases production by 50%, rounded down, based on the total production including production from a Statue or external dwellings. So, if you have a Statue, the Grail, and 4 external dwellings, you will produce ten Black Dragons per week. Considering that you could get another one from the Portal of Summoning and four more by recruiting in the wild, even the extra 5000 gold per day you get from the Grail isn't enough to buy them all. But at least, if you're getting 15 BDs you probably won't buy any harpies or troglodytes :-)

In a game against the AI on an XL two-level map you can often make a Statue and find the Grail -- at least you can if you concentrate on building and developing instead of going and whupping the enemy as soon as you find them :-)

hey, statue of legion and grail definatley possible on XL maps with underworld vs computer especially... def a nasty combo... i am usually to lazy to assemble combo artifacts and often probably don't realize i would be able to assemble them.. i would care more about it if i didn't play vs the computer so much, where one can win without trouble anyways..

i remember one game on queen/xl underworld, with my friend necro and me dungeon playing vs all the computer on the same team, he was able to assemble the combo artifact in order to summon liches instead of skulls.. cloak of the dead king i think... at the end of the game he had over 1000 power liches... plus that artifact does some extra stuff in combat too i think, like mass curse on oppenent or something..

cool post its interesting to see how much possible growth theoretically, peace dude, --c0ldshadow

No, the one with mass curse and other spells is different. It needs, I think, shield of dead, blackshard, ribcage and skull helmet (all of which are pretty common :-), while the one to raise liches needs vamp cloak, deadman shoes, and one other thing.

If you like to play a long game, assembling artifacts helps keep things interesting.
