You shoud read all of the books 
The story has really grown, its just too much to tell, plus its not so nice to spoil for others

well if there is no magic ware is the fun!
i like to think that there is magic as i like to think of my self as a i dont know a witch i sapose.
so thay use toles to praform magic magic in the books and granted it whould be nice for use to think that we dont need sead toles like in soume games. but it is just one pearsons ider and every one is entitled to a difrence of a pineon. and even thow my mother has toled me the ending to the latest book i am still reading it, but she is under sevral hexis at the moment as i have not forgiven her just jet

I have just dug through the first chapter, and I must say that it is much better than that in the 4th book, which I found rather boring

another thing about arry potter that i dislike is the lack of change. for example, in Pawn of Prophecy(by david eddings) there is:
-a new world
-new form of money
-new way of casting spells (will power is the source)
-many loose threads being droped
another thing i dont like about arry potter is that it is a series that well ends at every book. u can read the first book and have no need to read the rest, like me. other book series like, the belgariad or hightshade chronicles are series that must be read till the end. i dont like books that are like arry potter in this way. too much freedom to stop reading

That last statement is very much why you should read the rest of the books
The stories do not 'clearly end' at all
If you look at the physical size of the books as they progress, you'll see each one gets larger - as does the scope of the plotline.
You'd be surprised I think

well i read the first book, forced by the school, and i thought that there was no need to read the second. it was interesting but no enough that there was ever a wanting to read the second. i mean care for it so little i dont even want to watch the second movie for fear i would lose a few hours of my life.
i also think that voldermort being called u know who is absurd. i mean is there a reason for this that is revealed later or is there something i missed. in the balgariad the evil guys name cannot be spoken for a reason. the reason? if his name is spoken he can tap into all coversations by the person that spoke his name.
so is there a reason that saying voldermort is bad?

I might have missed something, as it was quite a while since I read the previous books, but Voldemort being one of the most powerful wizards alive and at the same time the most evil one, the very sound of his name makes people feel uncomfortable.
BTW, I've read the first book for the exact same reason, ARF

well atleast it killed some time at school, plus we had a casette that reads it so i didnt even need a book
but not wanting tto say his name cause he is powerful is stupid. its like not wanted to say "bill gates" cause he is richer than u(thats right u, not me though). it doesnt make sense
pandora, can u shed some light on the subject?

in many novels and books that are very good they have the old line "his/her name strikes fear in the hearts of men" [offtopic]sexist[/offtopic] anywho this book just decideds to take that old cliche' a bit further by actually making people scared to say the name outloud. i also think somewhere in the book the voldemort followers say its disrespectful to voldemort and will torture/hurt you alot if you say his name.
and even though voldemort is "gone" people sometimes still think he is alive and hence fear the name

like in school how its "disrespectful" to call a teacher by first name, its always sir, madme, etc the evil people think its disrespectful to say the name voldemort and he should be refered to as you-know-who, except they hurt you ALOT when you say voldemort

ahhh, now that u put it that way it makes a bit more sense but still, i wouldnt be that uncomfortable about the same thing. its really about thinking from a different angle. he can kill me but that can change, so there is no difference in whether u say his name or not
also i didnt get that from the books, maybe there is something clearer i didnt pick up
