new town: Bastion

The team called New Town Group (NTG) has announced that they MIGHT need beta testers for their project. You can contact NordStar, but be sure to read the conditions first:

Quote:

1) fast access to the Internet

2) the Condition on nondisclosure of the internal information

3) Skill to work with the editor of resources (resedit) also (is desirable) ERM-programming skill

4) Accuracy and the responsibility. To be ready to carry out procedures of testing

5) Regular reports and free time for testing.



While their site is not being updated very often, there are some features so you can get the picture what it's all about:



*the new town is desert-based (native terrain is sand)



*all creature will be new (this is Desert Wanderer)



*most of creatures will have special skills
(Oliphaunt are able to attack siege walls like Cyclops do!)




*my favorite is Anubis (level 7) - casts teleport and shoots all!

While it seems that most of all features have already been decided by the authors (which is their right), we could share our impressions, though! What do you think ???

Personally, I don't like some creatures (not Heroes style), but I am glad that after six years we could get not one, but TWO new towns to play with!

I think that part of units does not match to heroes world

But project is good =)

I wonder which town will be better - bastion or our forge xD

I dont know if anyone asked but are they gonna be like completely new town with new outside designs or just like that script in wog changes conflux into another town? because in that forge town patch its like that.

Well... I really see that you dont read the topic about forge =)

Forge now change conflux into forge beacause it's a graphic's tests and it will utill we have complete graphics pack!

zielevitz is right, units of bastion town dont seem to match homm world, and i just saw a few units on the web site some of them has bigger size than even titans or cyclops.i meant no offense, though. the buildings and other stuff are pretty cool. by the way if the size wouldn't matter why not create giant sized creatures like a boss at the end of a campaign, y'now half of the body on the ground and other half in underground. however i kinda liked units for forge town except that ogre because he seems to have a hat.if the both towns realese about the same time its gonna be crazy to have a battle between egyption units and modern half cyborg units. i wish both groups good luck.

Here's some more info on Bastion heroes:

sounds good. hey i was thinking, most of you must've heard about upcoming new Heroes of Might and Magic 3 Online game, i've been reading some articles that says TQ company are planning to add new stuff to game for fans. what if they try to add a new castle?

i guess it doesn't really matter if they have a new town in homm online. by the way, once there was another web site about the town bastion. i saw a few other units there, like scorpions and upgraded nomad, and there were lots of hero images.i believe the group dont want to put them into the project now. i think they could remove nomad and mummy from being neutral units and add them to bastion town, y'now with upgraded versions of them just like 3do did when they constructed conflux town.

i heard that homm only holds 255 amount of units, and i believe now there are 177 units are in the game with 8th leveled units, wog neutral units and wog commanders, also i heard that wog team are planning to add new commanders into the game. let's say if there would be 2 commanders per town,one might and one magic, that makes 186 units. now, there are two new upcoming town projects, which will have 17 units each with 2 commanders and 8th leveled units. that adds another 34 units into the game, increasing the amount of units up to 220, which only leaves 35 spaces for extra or neutral units. ( ..and they say i don't know about math..)so my question is that are they ( wog team, bastion project, forge project ) planning to add any neutral units to fill in this 35 spaces? or maybe since there is enough space for another town some other group may consider to create a new town, like oceanic for example, who knows?

Each Commander requires two creature spaces because the stats and abilities of the Attacker and Defender's Commanders need to be tracked separately. So unless Slava finds another way to do this, that eats up an additional 9 spaces (or 11 if both towns are included).

I think, time allowing, at least a few extra neutral creatures will be added. There are a few nice little monsters (spider, rat, etc.) in the MM7 and MM8 lineup that may be converted to WoG.

so besides the commanders there will be 198 units with new town projects, and if one commander takes two spaces that would take 44 spaces, if you count there are two commanders each town with bastion and forge, which makes total of 242 and leaves only 13 spaces, also you say there will be some neutral units to fill in, so after the releases of wog 3.59, bastion, forge, there won't be any spaces for anyone else to create an unit or construct a town. thats bad news for people who would like to see a third upgrade option in the game (i'm one of them)

i like the desert town idea!!

could you have a creature that is like a giant scorpion but with human torso but arms like those giant pincer things scorpions have?

yes, i have been watching "The Mummy Returns"

some spells could be
sand attack, reduces power to archers
sand twister, basic attacking spell

will there be mummies?

Don't panic yet. We're aware of the issue and looking into possible solutions.

(Also, if we add other neutral units in 3.59, there may only be 2 or 3 since there will be so much else to do and it all takes time.)

that's kinda relief to know, what about sagamosa scripts, is it gonna be releated to all of these, because if you installed the scripts there is a feature in the game that allows you to battle against non-upgraded versions of units in enemy's army, and i didn't see any wog units in the folder 'army' of sagamosa. i believe that it would include wog units since sagamosa joined the wog team, but what about units of bastion or forge towns ?

I really don't know. I guess Sagamosa will have to answer that.

In general, if a new town (or towns) are completed and incorporated fully into WoG 3.59, I think we'll try and update all scripts that deal with creatures to work with the new town creatures too. On the other hand, I suspect that if the Forge Town is completed, it's more likely to be an optional addition that's downloaded separately. Or maybe not..maybe it would be included. Or maybe it's impossible to fully integrate new towns into Heroes without source code...we just don't know for sure. But we remain hopeful!

i'm looking forward to see both towns, bastion and forge, fully completed and to be able to play in the game. i can find alot of news about forge town but there is not much of info on internet about bastion besides its offical web site ( and it doesn't seem to get updated alot ). forge town is gonna be released first probably, since they've done alot of animations and other stuff.

by the way, i was just scouting some other web sites about homm3 and wog, then i found some posts about another town called 'moontown'. i'm still not sure either it is only a fan made thing or a really upcoming project, if it is an another town project i think that would complicate some things. ( i mean no offence if it is a real project though ). however, just wanted to mention it.

I don't know how fully the towns can be integrated into WoG without Slava or someone spending a lot of time working on the code (assuming it's possible), so even if all the graphics and ideas for these towns are ready soon, that doesn't mean that the towns will be fully playable as new towns before 3.59.

There's an awful lot of stuff in the game code that relates to towns (from being able to choose a town at the start to coding all the special structures to the new heroes that have to be added, etc. etc. etc.) And that's not even to mention all the WoG scripts that will need to be updated.

So I don't know... I think that unless the town teams have their own programmers who can edit the code, I  just don't see how this can be done easily or quickly.

On the other hand, replacing of graphics and creatures (with only limited ability changes through text files and/or scripting) should be relatively easy to do. So I expect this is what will be done at first by the town teams.

As for the Moontown--I think it's just a picture and an idea.
