yes, that 'tower' is the mage guild. And I think that neither the Grail's properties, neither the Grail's look isn't revealed atm.

Bastion production has been halted because of the team's claims that the creatures' abilities can't be fully implemented without WoG 3.59. However this point of view has been heavily criticized due to the availability of a working creature/ability/town emulator. Anyway, currently Bastion team allege to be working on WoG 3.59 as part of the CoreWOG team. Ironically enough, no part of their 'secret' work has ever been publicly released. No press releases were ever made. As for the Bastion town itself, information leaks tell us that the town, creatures and campaign were finished more than a year ago.

So, in other words, we just have to wait until the team agree to use the emulator (most likely) or make WoG 3.59 (very unlikely since no evidence of progress surfaced in years).

Knowing those people, I'm sure that Bastion won't get scrapped. It will be released in some form or another. The upcoming HotA addon should make a good proof of the emulator's power and probably give the Bastion team some impulse for finishing WoG 3.59 or switching to the emulator.

So, no need to worry.

This only means that the developers of Bastion put up the torch left by the WoG team, adopted the title of Team CoreWOG, and are allegedly working on 3.59. It's not clear whether 3.59 will see the daylight, but CoreWOG have firmly stated that Bastion won't be released before 3.59 since it's strictly dependent on some of the features planned in 3.59. Of course, miracles happen, maybe they change their mind and  switch to the emulator some day. Personally I'm very skeptical about the release of 3.59 since no screenshots or press releases were out for many long months, but they've sworn on many occasions that 3.59 is to come. 2010? 2014? Your guess? You aren't getting Bastion before 3.59, that's the only thing I'm absolutely sure about since it was stated officially on behalf of the team.

The project was started back in 2004 when everybody was running around yelling '3.59 is coming!'. Gradually 3.59 was cancelled but people didn't want to believe it until recently because of the frequent rumors about Slava's possible comeback, etc. Finally Bastion developers decided to make 3.59 on their own because Bastion can't be released without it. But in fact, the only thing that stands in the way is the lack of possibility to implement some specific creature abilities. If they revised the abilities and changed them to something implementable, it would be possible to release Bastion for 3.58f. Bastion could have been out back in early 2007, as a matter of fact.

Do you mean this by the use of scripting and data editing to replace another town, or is it actually possible to add new towns without replacement into 3.58f?  If not, I'm sure this stands in the way as well.

Certain currently existing scripts allow for adding new towns and creatures. The creature limit has been shifted from 255 to about 1300 through emulation. However it's impossible to script certain exotic creature abilities.

Then surely there's a better reason for the Bastion's creators to delay their work for even more years rather than release a workable version on the game we have...

1. Some time ago WoG team and NTG team united their forces, so the newly CoreWoG team was formed, which is now developing WoG 3.59. WoG project is still active, several team members (including me) are working with code sources with Slava's support. We will make official statement soon.
2. Bastion still requiers some work. It MAY BE possible to realize it through "emulation", but thoes who speak about it don't fully understand all difficulties of such process (when i see them directly). So it is not "our way to go". By the way we plan many new features (unplanned before) in the new WoG version, so Bastion will use this features to.

e.g.HOtA says that over winter 2008-2009 it will be ready.Can you say something like that?!?

This has been said over and over again for nearly thousand times... So, guys, I frankly advise you to draw conclusions listening to your own reason. I don't pretend to be the last instance of truth, but my common sense tells me WoG 3.59 won't be out before 2014.
