Of course we'll inform you about developments. It is very difficult to predict, I think not earlier than spring of  2009.
Baklajan, your trash talking do not help us. Please let's not engage in finger pointing.

Oh, I can hardly understand your poor English. A better wording of your ideas could really help me to get your point. As for me, I'm just voicing my personal opinion, which is to be respected just as much as yours. This tale about Spring '200_ (insert a random number here) reminds me of a beggar woman in the Moscow subway with a crudely made poster 'My only five-year old son is dying from a rare disease, I plead with you to help'. I see her from time to time at different subway stations, now the poster says 'My six-year old son is dying, etc...' She's too very concerned about timely updates to keep as official as possible but her sincerity is still rather questionable

So much factionism... come on, it's just a mod for a game.  Someone around here seems to be taking things way too seriously.

@ Baklajan

Please, keep your opinions about 3.59 just for yourself right now and if you will be right, then I'll give you a gift

Never, neither I'm going to tolerate your bluntness so keep your gift for yourself. I'm fed up with 3.59 promises and so I've been since 2005. I'm posting no insulting things - just saying what I'm thinking about 3.59, and my sayings aren't against the forum rules... It's not my fault that 3.59 has stuck in an never-ending development stage. Even if some work is being done by a few dedicated people, WoG 3.59 won't be out - in my humble opinion. I'm just trying to warn the more credulous folks against taking WoG team's statements for granted - for people should be judged by their actions, not words. And no evidence of any actions taken to draw the release of 3.59 closer has been ever released publicly. I won't be surprised to see WoG 3.59 released in 2011 or so, but that sounds more like a failure than a victory. The very fact that Bastion took about four years to develop and is now stuck is a failure, for people can't stick to a particular game forever - H3 is getting older and older, and three more years of development will result in WoG 3.59 being played solely by its developers...

bak, offtopic is against forum rules. Abuse especially.
Don't speak about your fantasies like they were facts.
And yes, the release date is unknown. But things have changed and some good news are to come soon I hope.

Quotes, please. CoreWOG is mainly made up from Bastion members. And it was largely their initiative to go on with completing 3.59, which perfectly corresponds to my words. ZVS is missing from the team, many of the previous team members are gone. I didn't say WoG was cancelled, I only guessed it will never be finished.  All my words are well grounded by the facts, and none of the team's statements about WoG progress ever were anywhere seriously backed up. See the difference? And what do you mean by 'abuse'? Any quotes or samples? Guess no. Any proof I'm offtopicking? Guess no. As long as Bastion and WoG are inalienable parts (which has been stated by the team for quite a number of times!) and Bastion so heavily depends on WoG, any WoG-related discussions of the game engine are quite on topic. I see, you are a big supporter of WoG, I can perfectly understand your feelings but I can hardly explain your intention to discredit my words just because you don't want to face the facts: WoG has been stuck dead, and there's no evidence that things are going to change. No matter how many people are currently working on it, see?

Quote:
Bastion production has been halted because of the team's claims that the creatures' abilities can't be fully implemented without WoG 3.59.

This is wrong, although limitations of 3.58f certainely slow things down.

Quote:
As for the Bastion town itself, information leaks tell us that the town, creatures and campaign were finished more than a year ago.

I haven't read this post before. Now I see that it's not your fantasies, but fantasies of "information leaks". Both town and compain aren't ready yet.

Quote:
Certain currently existing scripts allow for adding new towns and creatures. The creature limit has been shifted from 255 to about 1300 through emulation. However it's impossible to script certain exotic creature abilities.

Well, this rumor was spread by the author of the script, but he was wrong. What he did isn't related to creature limit. He shifted the limit from 197 to 256 monsters. In fact, the same can be done by changing a single constant in WoG sources, or a few constants. The thing is that there's at least one place in Heroes executable that wouldn't work correctly with monsters higher than 255. I hope such places may be found with appropriate testing if some preparations are done.

Quote:

The difference I see is that you 'facts' are rumors in fact. I'm sure team members could have proven their words. But I don't remember anyone asking them to do so.

The words "Never, neither I'm going to tolerate your bluntness so keep your gift for yourself.".

Now here are YOUR fantasies that you call 'facts'.
The evidence is that I'll have time to work on WoG in Summer. And progress completely depends on how many active people are working on the project.

Wrong? Even considering your further words that neither the town nor the campaign are ready? You are somehow contradicting yourself. I can't imagine how Bastion could be in the works for such a long time (almost 4 years) save for the sole explanation - the work has halted. This would perfectly explain why neither the town nor the campaign aren't ready yet.

Quote:

Do you realize that information leaks can't have any fantasies cause a leak is an abstract, inanimate noun? Or is this some kind of a metaphorical joke I failed to get the point of? At least two of WoG Team insiders have been releasing information unofficially. I somehow prefer to trust them. Seems like despite all the progress, 3.59 is nowhere near. I don't think anybody will care about it if it's out in 2014.

HotA is going to implement a number of monsters obviously surpassing the 255 limit. They don't produce the impression of an idiot gang, so I'd rather trust them - otherwise there would be no point in spending so much effort on a project which is doomed to failure because of the 255 limit. Please don't be surprised of my heretical point of view - I prefer to stick to the opinion that CoreWoG is deliberately pushing forward a rumor that the 255 limit can't be surpassed through emulation (in order to justify the very cause of 3.59 and all the development delays, lol). By the way, if I'm not mistaken, the script has been heavily reworked...

Quote:
The difference I see is that you 'facts' are rumors in fact. I'm sure team members could have proven their words. But I don't remember anyone asking them to do so.

Then these rumors must be extremely close to the truth. They emerge from people who either deal with the matter directly (WoG insiders who wished to keep anonymous) or from people who've done a lot of testing (somehow HotA developers were able to get the game working with monsters ranking above 255 in the monster table and faced no problems at all - the testing was extremely extensive).

Quote:
The words "Never, neither I'm going to tolerate your bluntness so keep your gift for yourself.".

Oh, the original poster advised me to keep my tongue behind my teeth when he failed to find a more suitable way of critisizing my point of view. In a very shallow sarcasm, he promised me a gift if I did so. What else should I have replied to him? He was being blunt, next he was informed I wouldn't tolerate his bluntness, so he might keep his gift for himself. Quite an expected response to would-be trolling.

Quote:
All things in this forum heavily depend on WoG.

Right you are. That's why your offtopicking accusations won't do. Aside from this thread's topic, Bastion, I talked on a number of peripherical topics concerning WoG, which isn't offtopic at all. Bastion entirely relies on WoG so... where's offtopic?

Quote:
Now here are YOUR fantasies that you call 'facts'.
The evidence is that I'll have time to work on WoG in Summer. And progress completely depends on how many active people are working on the project.

Read above. I've made up nothing. All the information I have at my disposal stems either from WoG insiders or people who spent a lot of time working with scripts and proved such things as the falseness of the famous 'the 255 limit is only passable through .exe modification' claim. You can type the word fantasies in all capitals as many types as you wish but facts will remain facts.

This 'I'll have time to work on WoG in summer' tale has been reincarnating in a thousand possible disguises all over the course of years since 2005. Even if you find some time to push things forward, even if three or four more people do, that's just not enough. This has been proven by time. You can't complete 3.59 completely on your own. Neither you can count on anybody else even if they are saying they'll have enough time in summer. You can only count on yourself, and you alone aren't just enough to finish 3.59. That's why 3.59 is still unreleased - the lack of motivation and the 'I'm sure someone else will sort this little thing out' position.

By the way, can we somehow see a moderately detailed report on the 255 monsters issue? What is that magical place in the executive which ought to screw the things up? How on earth HotA team was able to cheat the trap?

Baklajan, I think it's enough of this hypocrisy.. If you're so experienced in making of a town/mod/whatever, just try to complete one.. It's easy to criticise someones' work if You're doing nothing ^^ They're doing it for free, and 3.58 wog (even if it's a modding platform for you) has been done for free too.. Show some respect for these people and stop flaming with everyone because I'm failing at finding even one person that stands beside you.. Really, no one is forcing you to use wog and you should accept that other people really appreciate the work put in it, and are willing to wait even few more years for another version.

Hypocrisy indeed.

Offopic started in posts from June 02, 2008 02:36 PM and June 02, 2008 09:49 PM (this one is complete offtopic).

WoG isn't released yet because Slava was the only person that worked with WoG executable until CoreWog foundation.

Quotes, please, quotes with credible proof that I was offtopicking, otherwise you're lying. And what about my question concerning HotA team's success in breaking the creature limit? Every time it comes to asking for concrete information, e.g. addresses in the executive, any explanations in terms of coding, a silence occurs. Isn't this queer?

Baklajan, what about my proposition about doing your own mod ? Anyway, maybe YOU will give us some proofs.. All are you talking about are not facts right now, we have just your (and I don't think it's reliable) words.. If you want to speak about anything else than Bastion make a new topic. Going further in such argumentation that Bastion is connected to wog, maybe lets talk about mythology, modding, computer games, Russia..

My proposition for mods is to delete all ot posts (including this one) or move them to a new thread.

Maybe Im making an ass out of myself here by posting when the town is close to finished and IŽll surely miss something. But here it goes!

About this town - its related to the Arabic culture, I am right? Why not use more creatures, stories and, well basicly close to everything from the Arabic mythology? The giant Serpent Falak on which the world is standing on and its above the understanding of mankind of whats behind him. The fish above Falak, Bahamut and the thousand eyed bull who stands on Bahamut? Ghouls are also in the mix of arabic mythology. These are 4 creatures that would be great, and its a mystery to me why they werent used in the original heroes 3.

On the other hand. My education in 3d animation starts in august, I could always do it myself then!
