Game Music

To me musique is a very important part of a computer game, it is the main setter of mood for me, and sometimes if the usage of a sad song is just right i sometimes cry, almost like when watching a sad movie (i know i'm really girly)
one example was in Final Fantasy VI when celes:

*SPOILER*
read it backwards
ffilc eht ffo depmuj
END SPOILER*

it was really a sad scene and i was shocked, but i the music really made me cry, it was just so sad

Any way here are my top 10 favourite game songs:

Eyes on me Final Fantasy VIII
Force your way : Final Fantasy VIII boss theme
Kraeus' Theme : Chrono Trigger Frogs theme
Aria de mezzo caraterre : Final Fantasy VI opera scene
Still more Fighting : Final Fantasy VII boss theme
J-E-N-O-V-A : Final Fantasy VII Jenova theme
Prologue : Various Final Fantasy's
Prelude : Various Final Fantasy's
Waltz for the moon : Final Fantasy VIII (has the same main melody as Eyes on me)
Hymn of the Fayth : Final Fantasy X

Kaereus' theme was written by Yasunori Mitsuda
All other songs above are written by Nobuo Uematsu
Eyes on me was sung by Faye Wong
Hymn of the Fayth was sung by various people

So, what songs do you like/dislike?

Well i don't know of any games...But it has the same effect on movies as well

In LOTR: Return Of The King - the part where Faramir and his men were slaughtered by the orcs - and back in Minas Tirith when Pippin was singing that song to Lord Denethor...yea..=/

Tina: FF6 Overworld/Main Theme
The Decisive Battle: FFVI Boss Battle theme
Time Circuits: Chrono Trigger (Zeal Theme)
Schala's Theme: Chrono Trigger
To Far Away Times: Chrono Trigger
The Tragic Prince: Castlevania: Symphony of the Night
Lost Painting: Castlevania: Symphony of the Night
To Zanarkand: Final Fantasy X
Battle with Magus: Chrono Trigger
Scars of Time: Chrono Cross
June Mermaid: Xenogears (although Creid version by Yasunori Mitsuada is better)
Super Smash Brothers Melee: Fountain of Dreams

There are more than 10 there, sorry, couldn't help myself.

Also, I couldn't help it, but if you loved FFVI's music, you should check out the Piano collections.

i have, and its so cool, i like gau and celes the most, in FFVI piano colections

i like the theme song to "Metal Gear solid 3 : snake eater" as well (finally something from me not squaresoft related )
It has such great vocals and just feels so right when watching the opening credits, it just fits perfectly with everything, even though it made it feel too much like a james bond movie

I don't have the game, but I have heard the song. I think I should dust off the ole' PS2 and give MGS a whirl. Never was much good at it, anyway...assuming I don't replay Castlevania: SOTN as I invariably do every time I get out the PS2.

Ooh! And (for the most part) FF3's music is great, like Kefka's theme, or the boss music.

Hmm, that's too bad. I liked the POL Knight town music. Very nice piano and instrumentation. It's not as good as the nice piano C-major outro in the original Sorceress town theme, though. Oh well; I figure you'll like it eventually.

Yeah, KQ6's "Girl In The Tower" was a great song. More people should hear it.

don't get me wrong, it's not that i hate knight theme, but i just like it less than the rest of town themes (especially the ones with opera). My favorite h2 music are the original Wizard and Swamp.

KQ6 has excellent Middle Eastern score.

And also i love the medieval score of HoMM! :-)
