any news from wog 3.59 ?

i wonder if there is any news about wog 3.59?

i don't get it, there is nothing new done yet, or hasn't been put into the game yet? :/ still, what Fnord says is good news and bad news. in good way we will have some script updates , in bad way we'll have to wait even longer for wog 3.59 . however it's good to know that there is no rush. i think the new stuff in wog 3.59 is gonna be some surprise since none has been revealed , except that new sagamosa scripts and second commanders, here's something that AcidDragon mentioned,

i'm still not sure how many commanders will be added to the game, everytime i asked i didn't actually get an answer, one might and one magic per town? or something special? also i remeber Fnord mentioned that there will be some new neutral units in wog, spider, rat, etc. and there are new town projects, bastion and forge. here's something Fnord mentioned,

i can't even imagine the bugs, because even when i installed the sagamosa scripts it crashed down a few things, so if the forge project will be someting like that, like an extra patch or someting, it may create some extra bugs.

as you can see there isn't actually any news about wog 3.59 besides new sagamosa scripts and commanders, however if anyone finds something please post it .

other things i had in mind, third upgraded units and what happened to that Carnivorous Plant creature created by Daddy, is it gonna be included to wog 3.59 ?

nevertheless, wog 3.59 is gonna be BIG!!

The simple fact is that only Slava can do the actual hard-coding for WoG and he's been busy with other things (things that may earn money I suppose) since WoG 3.58f came out so hasn't had time to work on anything new.

I've mostly been busy working with Tim Duncan on his Last Hope series of maps as well as script updates but I've written a few new little scripts too.

Other script writers have written new scripts as well but most need testing, balancing etc. and probably will need more work. In fact, WoG 3.58f used script numbers up to script77.erm. Since that time we've used up the remaining numbers (up to script99.erm) with scripts that are written, partially written or planned. So we ran out of numbers and must wait for Slava to make changes so we can have more script numbers available.

BTW, the updates are taking a little bit longer to prepare than we thought because we keep finding little bugs, however we plan a public beta test when they're "ready" (I'm hoping that will be possible to begin in 1-2 weeks). The script update beta test will probably be done through the wakeofgods public Yahoo list.

I suppose the script update isn't too exciting though, since it generally doesn't add anything new, just makes some adjustments and fixes numerous script bugs (more than half of the 77 scripts have some sort of change or update).

For 3.59, we've discussed a few plans previously (mostly on the Round Table), like our plan to hopefully introduce some new (unique to Heroes 3) spells for Commanders, but this is only in the preliminary planning discussion stages right now.

Yes, the plan is to probably have two per town type (one might and one magic) but nothing is 100% decided yet.

And I hope we'll have some new neutral units like the Spider and Rat (graphics adapted from M&M games), but of course there are no guarantees at this stage.

Sagamosa wrote his scripts before he joined the WoG Team so he was doing everything on his own without much support so this may be one reason there are more problems with his scripts (at the moment).

But in any case, it seems that any big project or addition (like Commanders, Stack Experience, etc.) will introduce a number of bugs that can take a long time to sort out. Actually, even small additions can do this, but  I expect the towns will be especially difficult in this regard (although I hope I'm wrong).

However, if the town project(s) work out and can be added to WoG, I think we'll all do our best to get them integrated without bugs (or as few as possible), even if it requires a lot of testing.

If someone sends up a fully created Carnivorous Plant animation with all frames complete and it looks good, then of course it's possible. But if there's just a picture or a frame or two or if the quality's not there then there's no chance at all.

the name is on the screenshot . it is a part of a project that probably won't be included in WoG... but you never know. I can only say we have more creatures where that one came from (and it's not a secret - it's a MM creature. MM and HoMM used very similar graphics)

it may not be included? no way, that unit is awesome. it should make it to the new patch . i know it's a might and magic unit, that's why it fits the game.

by the way i can send images now, i've made a home-made homm3 unit, here

Sure... and what bugs will be fixed?


Too many to list here but as well as the more important changes and fixes there are many minor changes and corrections too. Also there will be some internal changes made to allow full compatibility with new scripts that are being worked on for 3.59.
