Me
Hi, I'm Aquilo and I'm new here. It's my first reply. I always have been fascinated in HoMM games. It all started while I was watching my brother playing HoMM3. Then I played with him. I will never forget the first time I beat him. He was using Castle and I was using Rampart, though Fortress was, is, and will be always my favorite town. My favorite game is HoMM3, however I also appreciate HoMM2. Thatt's all

Long time gamer. HoMM 3 is a classic. Finally bit the bullet and snagged 7. Anyone know of a discord server for chat?

If you wanna chat with me tho you're always welcome at The Sexy Catgirls server. I'm a H3 veteran who first pioneered the wood elf rampart rush in multi (Yes yes I'm amazing), for which I got enough flame that people mistook me for an inferno main.

Hello! I'm new here, it's nice to meet so many fans of the Heroes games in one place.
I started with HOMM2 when I was little girl, with no understanding at all, but still I felt some magic in it. Then there was HOMM3 (Wow!) and after many years HOMM4. I also tried some map creating and editing (I was surprised that creating a map from scratch takes sooo much time).
Recently, after trying many mobile games, I started Creature Quest, which led me to this forum.

Welcome to the forum!
Haven't played CQ myself yet, but a lot of us do. You should speak to Galaad, he's the CQ boss around here. I hope you'll find an enjoyable time at this place.
Yeah maps can take quite a lot of time to build. I only worked on my own maps when I was 11 years old, created a huge HoMM 3 map I spend half a year on making.
There was even a lot of sensible things like every player began with only one town of any of the 8 original towns, wood and ore mines close to town, either defended by lvl 1 guards or undefended, town associated resource mine a little further away guarded by a level 3-4 monster I believe and a gold mine a bit further away again guarded by a level 5 creature. There were also an identical town to conquer and the associated dwellings.
Of course I added level 8-10 creatures as well, but IIRC there were only 2 of each level 10 and 3 level 8 dwellings.
Other stuff too that didn't make much sense, but back then I felt the 'hard' difficulty and beyond was too tough, so I didn't really know about the importance of different attributes or what exactly the difference was between placing a crypt or a dragon utopia, and I also couldn't resist filling most of the map with resource piles, gold piles and treasure chests, whereby when I tried the map the AI would spend several minutes on every turn, making the map unplayable.
But what made me particularly proud of it was the map design, with border guards that allowed a kind of guerrilla warfare, lots of island worth checking out (especially if you wanted some of the level 10 units), labyrinth like forests and water ways that were real shortcuts and not just oceans doing nothing.
Sadly the map has been lost a long time ago, and I think my memory of the little parts I remember may stand stronger than the map ever really was, especially considering how young I was when I made it and how little I knew back then, but at least I can be proud of the effort I put into it.
Sorry about the wall.

Hi there
I'm a fresh person in the Community and you can simply call me Gelu, since he is one of my favorite Heroes. It's about time for me to create the account in the HC, because I need to know as much as possible about my first and still favorite game of all time, if you'd feel like sitting down and getting a drink, I would tell you my own story of how I fell in love with this game
It was Summer of 2003, I was a 5 year old brat when I noticed my brother playing something that caught my eye, my whole vision and mind suddenly got fixated on the computer screen due to my growing interest of the game. It was Heroes of Might&Magic III Chronicles - Clash of the Dragons. Later on, my brother taught me how to play, which essentially became my first game I have ever learned to play. It's almost weird how many days and nights I have spent playing this and then SoD, that my cousin brought to me. It opened a whole new world for me until 2011. 2 years later I managed to get all 8 chronicle parts to play and that made me to come back to the game I loved so much. I again fell in love with the design, gameplay, battles, and history of my another favorite Hero, Tarnum, who is to me was the barbarian to have the most adventures ever. After some time, I was able to lay my hands on Wake of Gods expansion pack, which once again has granted me tons of new type of gameplay and strategy making.
Now, I am a 19 year old student who now lives in Denmark and studies Logistics Management AP and hasn't lost his love to his love and soul, and has finally found a site of like-minded people to make this dedication for the game even greater and eternal.

I will stay for a loooooong while since I am here for multiple things:
1. I want to extend my knowledge about the game.
2. If possible, to get the WoG, SoD, AM and/or Complete for free (again, if possible)
3. Mod the game I have to make it more interesting.
4. Simply to have some great time.

there's a lot of great stuff here. take a look around the "homm3.5 wog & beyond" subforum. there's new factions/towns, different platforms to try, and all kinds of stuff you can add to homm3. it's a veritable treasure-trove of new and fun stuff to play with and learn.

Welcome to the newcomers!
@Gelu
Feel free to have a read here, I don't cover everything but hopefully that should give a good start/overview of some of the modding scene here at HC.
If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask.
Cheers and enjoy your stay

There are some things I need to ask. First things first, modding. What do I need for installing a mod and how do I install them? Like, for example, are each of mods installed in a same or different way?

check out the era 2 or vcmi thread. 2 seperate platforms, 2 different ways to mod things. up to you which one to choose. you could just make 2 seperate homm3 install folders, and have one of each. there are different mods made for both of those platforms. and of course, there's hota as well. so, make 3 seperate install folders.

If I get it right, I should install HoMM 3 times in different locations. Kind of like, one for ERA, one for VCMI and one for HotA?
