I reached into my bag to grab my key to the main gate when my hand found something rough feeling, and it seemed to be getting hot. I pulled it out and saw that it was that fang thingy Antipaladin had given me, there was a faint buzzing sound as it started to vibrate.

"Hello?" I asked it, putting it near my ear. Nothing happened so I gave it a shake and tried again "Heelllooooo?"

My head filled with the sound of Antipaladin's frantic cries for help, something about a level 50 something or other - and then he said something about nuts and that he was near the Wastelands.

"What?! There are nuts in the Wasteland?" Completely baffled now, I decided that I'd better go help him - after all, he did seem a pretty good fellow.

He sounded urgent, so I decided to chance my teleporting skills again and willed myself to Antipaladin. I closed my eyes against the queasy floaty feeling, and when I opened them I was by Anti's side.

He was safe for the time being within a self-made force field *nice..I need to learn that* I thought Suddenly one of those level 50 nutters, or whatever they were came at me screaming "Emo's rule!!" I jumped back and one of them went head first into a mound of still steaming spam. I giggled a minute at the sight of his legs flailing about from the spam heap - but my laughter was cut short when I felt the sharp sting whip my head backwards.

"Ooowwww!" I cried, holding my head. "What was that?!" Then I saw him, that Emu boy as they called themselves was trying to use some mind control on me - I could tell because he had that weird constipated red-faced look that all those psychics tend to get when they try me.

"You know, I really don't have time for this!" I told him as I raised my arms. With a loud crackling sound the air buzzed with energy as thousands of black stars filled my awaiting hands - with one quick move I sent them all flying at him and he flew backwards as his quality count dropped him all the way down to the third level of hell.

"Wow, that was pretty cool!" I said to myself proudly, I'd never actually done that before. Unfortunately while I was admiring my handiwork - the other level 50 Nutter Emu had unstuck himself and was headed my way...

I looked down at the expired Emu Nutter in horror, he seemed to be liquefying and becoming this oozing greasy spammy sludge. I hopped up on a rock quick before I got any of it on my shoes.

"Ewwww... that's just disgusting" I said, wincing against the smell "RSF is definitely going to have to clean this up - it's about time he grabs a mop in here anyways!"

I looked down and saw Antipaladin then, he smiled weakly and said "you're okay" before his eyes closed.

"Ohhh no!" I gasped, realizing then what he had done to save me. "Poor guy, I have to help him"

I tried to figure out a way to pick him up without getting icky, and I just couldn't do it. So I closed my eyes and focused all my energy on sending him to the Temple of Ashan. When I opened them, he was gone, I felt relieved that it worked and then I decided to shift after him but... nothing.

"Damn damn damn!" I screamed, cursing my awful luck. I really wish this teleport thing would straighten itself out! I ran to the Temple on foot, and when I arrived (quite out of breath I may add) I found the the Hydra was already attending to him.

"What happened here Pandora?" he asked me suspiciously.

I looked down, it always freaked me out having all those sets of eyes on me. "Uhm.. you know..." i said nervously, running my foot across the marbled floor. "Usual VW craziness..hehe"

The Hydra snorted, clearly not buying my story, but also not caring to hear the truth either. "Hmph, well he'll be fine this one - maybe slightly changed - I'll have someone take him to the Newcomers Inn until he wakes up, you can collect him there"

Relieved to see that I wouldn't have to answer anymore questions, I went back on my way towards home. Looking up I saw the light in my tower was now out.

"Oh great...too late" I frowned. "Wha..?!"

I jumped slightly, sure I heard the sound of a branch breaking beneath someones foot. For a moment I stood perfectly still, all was silent. I decided to proceed slowly, my long ears finely tuned now and listening for any new sounds. I was certain now that I was being watched.... but by whom?

What a day.

Lying back I couldn't help but marvel at the creative genious that had created the Spam Angel and was relieved that here, in the wastelands, the meat would remain fresh forever.  Looking at the cross in its hands I felt dizzy, and slowly drifted to sleep.

As I dreamt I could see Boris's face staring at me, his mental thoughts whispering "kaaka, kaaka."  Of all his mispelt words I liked this one the best - I smiled at the thought and spoke to him.

"Boris, pallie.  I am so glad you are here.  This place is dying and you are breathing life into it once more.  You must not let the lure of the stars steal you from us.  You must not give up posting.  You must continue to spam.  It is in the silence that the evil attacks, when the laughter abates we are weakened..."

The memory of the stars jolted me awake, and I was back in my tent once more.  Thoughts were floating through my mind, about Pandora, and what whe had told me.  I still was not sure which way to go.

As I walked I became more and more paranoid about who was following me. It occurred to me that I had no real reason to think it was someone with intent to hurt me, I've had enough stalkers now that they don't frighten me anymore. What did concern me is that whoever it was could mask himself very well.. too well. I could sense no emotion whatsoever when I reached out searching for whoever lurked in the shadows.. with the stalkers I could always feel their nasty little thoughts. *Heh... there's one now* I thought, as I quickly reached out and snagged him by the edge of his cloak.

"Ohh! Lady Pandora, I'm s-sorry, I just thought if I followed you around a little while, it might help me.. you know.. to get some of those shinies...." he stammered fearfully.

I looked at him cowering there, and couldn't help but feel some pity.

"Listen, I have a deal for you... if you deliver a letter for me, I will give you one of the shinies!"

His eyes lit up in an instant "Oh yes, I will I will!"

I told him to turn around so I might use his back as a writing surface and quickly scrawled a note to Antipaladin: it read

Quote:
Dear Anti, I hope you are feeling better. I have reason to believe that there is more going on here than meets the eye - There are rumours that in the Maphaven Guild there exists a map of HC which reveals all of HC's secret passageways, I want to to retrieve it for me. Please be careful, I hear the guardians of this Map are more fierce than any Nut Throwing Emu you've ever met.
-Pandora

"There you go" I said as I folded the letter and quickly sealed it "Take this to Antipaladin at the Newcomers Inn, when you've completed the task, I will give you a star"

The n00b grabbed the letter and skipped merrily towards the Newcomer's Inn. I couldn't help but laugh, It takes so little to make them happy!

Adventuring Hero
Enemy of the Efreet
posted October 07, 2006 12:09 AM
Edited by Shadowcaster at 10:11, 07 Oct 2006.

ACC and Baarta entered the gates of the Glade and glanced around. Neither RSF nor MM was in their respective tower, so the pair simply made haste to the portals. The sight unnerved ACC. The portals' faint blue glow and calming hum were transformed into pulsating, almost foaming, lights of a very dark blue. They almost resembled the waves of a storm at sea. Were he in Shadowcaster's body, ACC could have quelled the unrest and then checked the portals for the cause of the disturbance, but he had to reverse the steps to adjust to his current situation. He and Baarta went and looked up at the massive and worn Saga portal, looked at each other, nodded resolutely, and entered.

The story was frozen in place, locked after many of the Saga roleplayers had disappeared. Shadowcaster had once become so dismayed at this that he'd created another portal containing the story's end, but it was far too unstable to maintain for long. Some stories just weren't meant to end, it seemed. They were, for now, in the Tower of the Magi. The unnamed old man had long since disappeared, but his tapestry remained to tell of the story before its abrupt end. Deep in the forest lurked the two assassins, Gorm and Wicked Tim, Rinaldo walked with his zombies, Dunco prepared to lead the Moon Watch, and Morwen and Isildur watched as...it wasn't possible.

The world quivered violently at this spot, a stark contrast to the rest of the frozen story, and Shadowcaster, Baarta, and Lith were all missing from the scene. ACC realized what had happened: his lock had been disturbed and had caused a rift to appear in the story's universe when Shadowcaster vanished. Valeriy's spell must have not only removed Shadowcaster from the outside world, but also any traces that he had ever existed. Unfortunately, Lith's Keeper and ACC's Baarta had been sucked from the story through the hole the shadow mage had left. And this wasn't the only locked story in which the shadow mage had partaken.

He rushed into the Glade Table of Contents, crafted by his own hand, and flipped through the archived RPs, noting where he had posted. He verbalized those he recognized as he searched.

"The original Axis...
The Saga of Glade River Valley...
Lords of Tanaran...
and the Saga."

Four RPs had been destabilized. He turned back to Baarta, who simply nodded because his thoughts were identical to the genie's. ACC looked puzzled, though.

"Baarta...why are you still an illusionist? The story is missing a sharpshooter." Baarta simply shrugged. Perhaps the sharpshooter was elsewhere. ACC just hoped the escaped characters wouldn't cause any trouble. Then, as if snapped out of a trance, he remembered another thing that troubled him. While his thoughts matched Baarta's, the memory of his arrival in the outside world did not transfer to ACC. Their memories didn't match for that brief period.

"Why were you disguised as Pandora?"

He waited for an answer, but Baarta's recollection of the event flooded into ACC's mind as the illusionist recalled them, so none was needed. Baarta had simply transformed into the first person he saw, which was, ironically, one of the most sought after people in HC. It was unconnected to anything of relevance.

"Never mind," ACC told his creation. "We can no longer be of use here, we have to find Val and restore Shadowcaster before the stories tear themselves apart, and possible the Glade and all of HC with them. I just hope he has a backup server."

Refreshed from my doze, I began to process all that I had heard.

People were going missing.  I wondered if they were being sent out to the Real Abyss as I was; and were somehow trapped there, or if in fact, they were caught somewhere in HC itself.  And where could bob be hiding?  If he had somehow made his way into the Temple of Ashan, we might never find him.  I pushed the thought to the back of my head and thought of things that I could do.  I needed to gain some skills, I was pretty useless the way I was.

All I had were butterflies and smilies, and my guess was that they would not be much use in this fight... I knew where I could go.  Back in the beginning, I had prepared an army.  A whole civilisation with powers that could be used to help me.  Relief washed over me.  I hadn't seen my Cavern friends for some time and the thought of them made something within me dance...

Suddenly, one of the posts from the back of the tent began to sing,
"Little Kooka sits in the old HC
SPAMing all the threads that she does see
STOP! Little Kooka STOP! Little Kooka save some SPAM for Meeeeeee!"

I laughed, and wondered if this was a sign from some higher power, and if its message was one of good or evil.  Regardless, I crawled out of my tent and back into the sweet heat of the volcanic mountains and looked around for a tent where there were people.  I needed company, I needed mindless conversation, and I needed it now.

Tomorrow, I was headed for the Coliseum.

Mage of the Land
Naughty, Naughty Valeriy
posted October 07, 2006 11:38 AM

As Valeriy arrived to the wastelands he sensed a disturbance in the force, as cliche as it may sound. He was, after all, compared to Yoda for his style of writing in the foreword of the now famous Heroes V Manual.

The disturbance was coming from a specific area. Having teleported there, Valeriy found two spammers struggling helpless in slow motion in piles of deep fried spam. They did seem like unusually skilled spammers, obviously well trained in some foreign lands. But the way they were dealt with seemed most peculiar. One was obviously a doing of a moderator, but very heavily overdone, he was barely breathing. Valeriy waved his hand to disolve a couple of red stars on the spammer's forehead to prevent him from complete disappearance. Even these people deserve a second chance. The spammer was still barely moving, trying to focus his eyes on Valeriy, mumbling something incomprehensible. Maybe he was worth questioning later.

The second spammer was not work of a mod. This was most strange. Who else in these lands could fry a spammer? Valeriy had a sudden thought of shock - Bob! No, it can't be... It must not be. Quickly he resumed his way to find the one who had his answers. That oracle would surely know about this strange power. Speaking of powers, there were now too many. The now defeated 2Xtreme, Bob, this unknown spammerfryer and the Oracle. Valeriy certainly hoped this handful was the end of the list as he continued floating to the West.

I closed the heavy gates to the squad behind me, making sure to check and double-check that I had securely locked them. Satisfied I looked up at the great Stronghold, still awed by its magnitude. I felt another chill course through me as my eyes glanced towards where Shadowcaster's tower once was. The towers usually remained, standing tall in remembrance of the Moderator who lived there. In fact, I can only recall one other... but no, Shadowcaster cannot have fallen that way!

I stepped into the great hall, walking towards the donut shop when a strange sensation crept over me. Something was very wrong here - a window blew open and the gust that swirled in the hall surrounded me. There was a rustling as this unnatural wind filled the hall with dried fallen leaves, and something else... voices? I looked around frantically, my ears trying to follow the faint whisperings on the dying breeze.

"What? What is it?" I cried out.

Suddenly it stopped, the leaves seemed to have arranged themselves into a pattern of some sort.

"Well that's certainly odd..." I muttered to myself. I looked around to see if anyone else was here, usually Angelito could be found where there were donuts - but sadly I was alone. The pile of leaves had taken on the form of a mod sword.. and then as I looked in the direction that the leaves pointed I saw it - a slight glint of steel from within the shadows. I moved towards it, knowing in my heart what it was.. but trying desperately not to believe. This was Shadowcaster's mod sword. I choked back a sob as I picked it up, it took some effort to lift , this sword was much heavier than mine.

I decided to bring it to my tower and hide it away, maybe at some point it would be of use. Once I was satisfied that no one would find the sword, I began searching my room for clues as to who had been there - fearing that my unwanted visitor was the same who had taken down Shadowcaster.

Two thoughts kept coming back to the front of my mind, no matter how hard I tried to push them away... did Valeriy do this - and was I next?

Journal Entry #137

I am still greatly disturbed by the unexplained disappearance my associates Niceguy and PC; I haven't seen them in a while. How I wish I could speak with PC again; I need information about the whole Bob issue. There's probably massive confusion engulfing the Community and here I am without a clue about what's happening. I swear, something big must be in motion.

I am still puzzled by the night I had Bob in my company. Just when I thought I'd find some badly-needed answers, I was assulted in an alleyway by an anonymous attacker and Bob fell out of my grasp. When I finally came to, I was left alone to ponder the situation. Did Bob escape? Was he kidnapped? So many possibilities, and there was little I could do to solve these mysteries.

I am restless and constantly besieged by my own curiosity. What am I to do next? Should I search for Bob and/or learn more about him? Should I seek out my missing comrades for help? Should I get the mods involved? Ugh, no! I'd much rather leave the mods out of this, or else I'll cause an uproar with the authorities. I'd better look into this on my own, just to be safe. I smell trouble all around, and I plan to have none of it.

Where to start, where to start? Hmmm. I've been studying a map that I received when I joined the Community several years ago. It's quite detailed:

I definitely need this map to help guide me through unfamiliar territories such as the Glade and the Tourney Grounds. But no matter where I search, I'll have to move about stealthily. With the mods on the lookout, everything I try will be risky. Gosh, what I'd do to have PC helping me right now. I'd ask William to join me, but I don't think he's up to this challenge. And anyway, I don't want to get him involved...yet.

So ends my writing for now. I must ready myself for this undertaking.

I hadn't ventured far from my tent when I saw Val.  I stopped in my tracks.  It had been so long since he had come into the Wastelands, and he was here now - and with one movement of his hand dissolved a spam frenzy.  He seemed preoccupied, so I did not appoach him.  I made a mental note to send him a smilie via HCM to try to assess the seriousness of his mood.

BAM

I saw Iris sneaking into the Daily Chat tent and was walking to see her when Boris approached me.  He look concerned about me, I touched my cheeks and realised I must have dark lines under my eyes -I needed sleep.  But insomnia had me and wasn't letting go.  Something in my memory zapped and I felt an urgency...

"Boris, Pandora mentioned that she was sending you on an important mission somewhere.  What's up?  I'm ok "

I looked at Boris and felt relieved to know there was still a sense of community in this place.  I didn't have time for that drink though, in fact, I couldn't even be bothered with the spam.  Things were just getting wierd around here and I needed to get away.

"No, but make sure you have a room temperature one for me, k?"

He smiled and headed off towards the Tavern.  I spun on my feet, looked to the west, and the long ascent up the lava laden mountain to the Coliseum.  No wonder not many people go there...  The trek was a long one, but I needed the walk, I wanted the fresh spam air to penetrate my lungs, and I wanted that rush when I reached the top.  I wanted to feel my body ache, I wanted to feel alive.

I sat down glumly on the bed, resting my chin on my hands as I tried to come up with some sort of plan. It was a ridiculously frustrating thing to try to do, especially considering I had no idea what I was planning for - or who might be plotting against me.

I stood up and began to pace the room, walking always made thinking easier. My foot struck something and I looked down, none too  happy to see the clump of dirt that lay just before my closet. Suspicious now I opened my closet door and shrieked in horror at what I saw... complete and utter disarray. Whoever had been here obviously didn't care whether or not their presence was known. All of my things were strewn about, robes, jewelry, my quiver - arrows everywhere, spare mod shield.. whips... what a disaster.

Nothing was missing, whatever they sought they didn't find here. That was promising, maybe they aren't after me after all... or maybe they want my little purple gizmo?

"Damn! I can sit and think up a million what ifs and maybes but not a single thing is certain" I muttered to myself. I looked again at the mess my visitor had made, and knew I would have to fix that before I left.

"Order is best" I said to myself matter of factly as I swept up the dirt that soiled my rug.

I quickly put everything back in it's proper place. Immediately feeling better to see things back where they belonged. As I picked up my favorite whip, a sly grin spread across my face as the memories surfaced. I hesitated a moment, and then decided it may come in handy and hooked it to my belt , hiding it away beneath my cloak.

I checked back once more to ensure that everything was restored to it's proper state, once satisfied I decided that no good would come from me sitting up in my tower and pouting.

What I knew so far, was that things were really very strange... and if I knew anything of the Glade, it was that strange things were much less strange there. Feeling proud of myself for finally coming up with a direction I made the decision to teleport, and shut my eyes against that surge. I opened one eye when I didn't feel it, and my fear was confirmed - no teleport again.

"Dammit Valeriy! Why??" I yelled, shaking a fist at the empty halls.
"Guess I'm walking again.."

As I entered the Glade I felt slightly awed by all that was held here, this was more than I could have imagined- worlds and lifetimes lived here.

My violet eyes quickly scanned the landscape, looking for anything that felt familiar.

*Ahhh the Temple of Worship... no good* I thought *I could easily get too lost in there. Wait, what's this?*

I looked up and saw "Woock's Spam Angels"  *I have known Woock for years, he cannot be a source of evil, this is the portal for me!*

I stepped through and instantly felt the change, I held up my hands and my eyes widened in shock as I realized my mod sword and shield were gone. My nails were also perfectly manicured...

Interesting... I looked myself over and saw that my robes and cloak were gone, replaced by low rise leather pants,  a push up bustier top and 4 inch stiletto heels. Luckily my Whip was still latched securely to my pants - so I wasn't completely defenseless.

*This is certainly not practical, and I have no idea how these pants are even staying on me....* I thought *But dayum, I look fine - hey, there's someone over there, why aren't they looking at me?!*

I walked over to where those boys sat and decided I would ask them if any of them had noticed anything strange happening lately.

I leaned in close, resting my elbows on their table

"Hey boys" I said in a sexy drawl "Have either of you noticed anything funny going on around here lately?" I batted my eyelashes seductively at them, as both of their mouths dropped open in surprise.

*What the hell was that?!?* I thought to myself, *I hadn't meant to talk that way - or dress this way... maybe this was the allure of the Glade. I mean, yes - it was a rather big shock, but I have to admit, I kind of like it here.*

"Oooooh, that's okay boys" I purred, tousling one's hair as I strutted off. *I definitely need to learn to control this, if I don't I could lose myself forever to this persona.. she feels so... fun*

I looked down and noticed a small pouch attached to my belt loop, I opened it and pulled out a plastic froggy key chain

*What the heck is this about?* I wondered.

I decided I would have no luck finding any answers in here, when I couldn't even be myself. I took one last wistful look at how great my butt looked in those pants - and stepped back through the portal.

*wow... now that is definitely something I will have to do again*
I smoothed my robes, and smiled at the hefty weight of my sword and shield, as much as I liked to play - it felt good to be Pandora again.

ACC and Baarta began to search the remaining 3 stories that had been disrupted, just to ensure that no other characters were near enough to Shadowcaster's to be sucked out of the story along with them. They decided to split up to save time, and ACC went first to the Axis while Baarta took the Lords of Tanaran.

The genie stepped through the portal and looked around the massive Core, a standstill bustle of races of all kinds which was dense enough that ACC elected to float above the bunch to avoid moving anything from its rightful spot. It was a new perspective on a familiar setting, and the crowd was a picture of diversity that ACC had never noticed as Alistair, probably because he was too busy scheming. He had always needed to approach this place with a sinister and scheming mindset in order to preserve Alistair's character. Now the genie simply needed to find him. ACC flew to the Esprit sector and found the distortion on the stage in front of the Esprit that had supported Alistair's anti-human cause. Thankfully, no one had been sucked out into the world of HC; Alistair was too far away from everyone. His arrogance had spared them. The genie, greatly relieved, returned to the portal.

Meanwhile, Baarta went into the Lords of Tanaran portal, still sparsely populated because the RP had not had time to fully develop. The shore was littered with frozen NPCs who would have been destined to stay where they were no matter how the story had turned out. It was all so unfamiliar to Baarta, but ACC had told him where to go. The illusionist followed the forest until he reached the path the death knight had carved through the trees. The destruction of the trees was great and terrible, and Baarta shuddered to think what this character could do to his creator's world. He eventually arrived at the clearing and spotted the rift. The apes in the trees were stuck in perpetual silence and awe at the defeat of their hero, but neither Xerxes nor Brutus was around. The loose character count was up to four, Baarta and ACC were accounted for, but Brutus and the Keeper were not. He returned quickly to the world entrance.

The pair met in front of the Glade River Valley Saga and exchanged what they had found.

"No one but Alistair was taken from the Axis, thankfully."

"Tanaran was as you feared, however; Brutus is loose along with Xerxes."

Nothing too bad so far. The Keeper usually kept to himself, and Brutus had been nearly killed by Xerxes' life drain. There was just one more place to look. ACC glanced at the portal before them, then at Baarta, and the pair entered the final portal.

The genie only feared one thing at this point: that RSF had escaped into HC. Sure, Alistair would likely swindle his way into some trouble, but RSF was a powerful and malicious mage, possibly on par with the Saga's Artemus, or, even worse, Jerome. They could not afford to have a mad wizard, angered at having been ripped from his 'game,' roaming HC, especially with the moderators distracted from their duties in their search for Bob. Besides, nobody knew what would happen if you tried to penalize a figment, as they technically did not exist in the world of red and yellow stars. They began to search the mysterious halls.

It was difficult to find the place ACC had been, because this place was pieced together purely in RSF's mind, and none of the other characters knew the way out. The pair stuck together, because two would be better able to remember where they had gone and they would be able to escape more quickly. They eventually arrived at the holding cells where Mordikai had assaulted the guard, and he lay still in a pool of his own blood, the only destiny he would enjoy for all eternity. The next room was the apex of the trials, and the lion stood watching Erion and Sephiroth hungrily. RSF was not in this room. As Shadowcaster, he could have checked the logs to see if the mage had entered the room, but only a moderator would have that power. Rather than search the entire complex, ACC and Baarta returned to HC. RSF was surely outside of the story...somewhere. Only his creator would know for sure where he had gone.

Brutus, the Keeper, and RSF. Three had gotten loose. ACC knew what had to be done. He had to find RSF, either the character or the moderator. The former would allay the danger to HC while the latter would be able to check the logs and control his mad mage in one fell swoop. Unfortunately, ACC had not seen RSF at all lately. The genie sighed at his plight.

Suddenly, he saw a shimmering from across the semi-circle of portals, and a faint outline of blue emerged from the newest addition to the Glade.
