Brainstorming for Glade Revival
As I had said earlier, anyone who plays a major impact on reviving this forum will get a QP. This can be starting up successful RPs, consistantly posting and involving the other characters making the RP more interesting for everyone. Coming up with a good idea that breathes life into an RP.
In spring of 2004 there was about 7 or 8 people who did this consistantly for several months. People called this forum QP heaven. I agree I gave too many QPs out, but people earned most of the ones I gave. Some people spent 45 minutes to an hour to sometimes two hours a day posting and coming up with new ideas, because it was so interesting and fun. They took the time aside out of their days, because it was worth it. I feel that the quality that came out of that time period improved every week. Starting in February, we had numerous people who were not talented writers by any means, but by summer time almost everyone had become a talented writer. But slowly the excitement has been lost and now we are looking at a forum that's completely dead lacking any inspiration.
So the offer stands. This forum requires effort and excitement to keep it going. I remember posting right before I went to bed and waking up the next day excited to find out what people had posted next. I haven't had that excitement for a long time. People used to post everyday. And each day I'd go look to see what everyone had written next. It was exciting, like reading a book you couldn't put down and then adding another small piece to the adventure.
So the ultimate goal would be to revive Glade back to its height of early 2004. However this is something that will only happen naturally if the members get that interested and excited about their RP. For some it might be the more relaxed setting were everyone posts 2 or 3 times a week and the RP goes more slowly. This is the minimum goal I would like to achieve.
So anyway there are a couple ways to do this.
1.) Choose an active RP and join it.
2.) Start a new RP
2a.) Join an RP that someone is trying to start up.
3.) Choose an old RP and revive it or remake it.

I am out of ideas for RP's...I have tried everything possible but no avail..I've tried overly complex ones, simple ones, original ones...nothing works.
We had the Dragons inn going good for a while but the only consistent posters in it were me, Lord_Pc, and Varuas...
LHW my character is at a standpoint...
I can try to start up an RP sometime in the next day or two, it wouldnt hurt to try.

Well I still think that an RP is not the work of but one person, but of numerous people, so if you get any ideas. I think it would help to post them here before you post the idea. Discussion is a great way to get people excited and interested, because they feel a sense of attachment and accomplishment.

dragons inn was good but but many ppl, like pan and xarfax, only posted once every week or so so it really died. varuas left so now there is only 2 ppl there.
well here is an idea for a RP,
i was thinking that i could make a RP called "dragon Hunters" or something. basically we all meet in a town, lets call it maintown, and we all see a notice. the notice says that there is a group getting together that are going to try and slay a great dragon that has been terrorizing maintown for centuries.
the reward is great so we all join at the kings hall. then we go off and kill the dragon.
thats all i got so far but i was thinking maybe we go off and kill more creatures, like manticores and other dragons, and get a reputation and be come "the dragon hunters"
what do u think???

I'd be posting in Axis Revisited, but there's only so much I can do without Shadowcaster and Titanium Alloy actually participating.

I actually like the idea of dragon hunters. It sounds interesting. Nothing complicated, just all of us in one party out on an adventure. It reminds me a lot of the RP I did with Pandora on another board. I've been really wanting to do something like that for quite a while.
I don't think I'd be interested in Axis Revisited again. It was interesting the first couple times, but I doubt I'd have any substantial inspiration for another go.

'Another go'? What do you mean by 'another go'? A fresh start or continuing from where we've left? If it's the first one, then who ever mentioned starting over?
As for the second option, fine, but don't you go around calling me a filthy QP hunter, starting a thread and abandoning it as soon as it gets QPed.

Both Axis threads died off fairly quickly, and both got QPs. So I certainly hope that I will not be called a QP hunter because of that, for I'm not exactly the person who let the threads die in the first place.

I think we need a poll. Placed in the Tavern or somwhere that will get people's attention. Ask what they want in an RP. See what would interest them and go from there. Like one of those focus group meetings my boss makes us sit through with the retarded clients.

I was, and am, quite fascinated by TA's "Cold Winter" thing, so if anyone else is interested, we could try to revive that one...?
Same goes for "Axis: Revisited".
Don't think I have the time to participate in more than that. And I've read some 30-odd pages of RPG at another forum (Guardians' Grove) once before, and it's not exactly something that I want to do again in the near future. So joining any of the exsisting, active ones (i.e. LHW), is out of the question.
But hey, if anyone starts up something that looks interesting, I'm in...

Yeah, T.A.'s Cold Winter was interesting. I'd almost forgotten about it. I'd gladly revive that one. I'm also still interested in LHW as I've only just begun to fully explore the character that is Mighty Mage.
Also just for the fun of it we could keep the F.O.G. going. There is alot here that I'm still interested in which is why I find it the ideal place to moderate.
As far as qp incentives go I tend to be rather stingy but if I see some real effort and/or work put into it expect one. I think RSF and Shadow will agree with me that although we do want life breathed back into the Glade, simple one liners ar'nt going to cut it. Make somthing great so others will follow. We have plenty of excellent examples and if there is an RP in particular that interests you than posting something decent should not be difficult.

I just got an interesting idea. Say there were two parties in competition with one another to get to the dragon first.

i got something else to go with it
there is an evil group and good group
perhaps if the evil group get the dragon they can use the dragons heart to make a powerful artifact that can make there group very powerful. if the good guys get it they can use it to cure a certain disease which has been spreading ever the lands, thanks to the evil group

Cool this sounds interesting. I'd kind of like to not have anymore than 3 groups tho. Just to keep things simple. If we don't get many people it might be better to do it with just 2 groups. And what's great about this style RP is that anyone can just jump in whenever.
The RPs with all kinds of factions and relationships, you have to know heaps of background before you can join.

yea, should be an easy RP to get into
to get the third group going, the greedy ones, we would first have to get some RPers.
i wouldnt want the good group to have 2RPers, the bad group 2 and the greedy group only 1. get what i mean?
