Great Sportsmanship

Now that, Rychen, is great sportsmanship and a fine fine example of how we should all treat eachother around here, rather than nickel and dime someone out of a win cause of a glitch like that.  Love to hear this stuff cause it sure makes playing fun when things are not such a threat to people.

Happy Easter btw...

It was great sportsmanship...

I am surpised not really... Ed is one of the most honest, blah, blah.....

Basically he just plain loves the game.

On a different point. Why is Dim Door and the tome of earth on a meduim map, that contains a log scholar and stables?? Arent we already moving far enough at that point?? Maybe it is just me but I would like to see the map improved by taking these out. I know that it isnt much fun to lose to dim door(even tho it only happenned once to me, I will have my revenge, Philly), it also isnt that much fun winning just because of dim door. Tho I do snicker when someone asks me how I am doing their dragon utopia in the second week. But that is usually the only thing I have ever enjoyed when I won strickly cause of dim door.

Some thoughts for perhaps a map editor to consider......

Your post kind of amused me Jex, since the thread is relation to honorable players doing honorable things....My wife made HG and allowed ddoor becuase if you were afraid of being rushed with ddoor you could simply leave your border guard and opponent would have to fight 15 titans...however, if you look at the map layout, it is pretty aparant that the ability to ddoor thru the underground was not the way the map was intended to be made and by doing so you are taking advantage of a map glitch. That may be a good way to win, but not too terribly honorable in my opinion, so there

lol@yawacko

Maybe it is a map glitch. But thats why dim door is removed from most maps. Because people that know how to use it can win too easily. I am sorry but maybe that isnt the way the map was suspose to be played. Thxs for informing how I am suspose to play this map, and here I have been doing it wrong all this time
One more point HG originally had the same color border guards, so that wouldnt stop a dim door rush.

Clarifcation....

Ok i have used, and i have seen other people use it. Maybe thats not the way the map maker wanted her map to be played. Ok fine I understand that.

As I said in my post, the wins I got from using it were not the ones I am proud of. Thats why I am asking someone to fix this 'GLITCH'. On the other hand by putting dim door in the game and not letting me use it. Your handicaping me, because if I build a 5th lvl guild, and get dd but cant use it. Than i just lost all that stuff

Plus if I dont use it on someone that has never seen it done than I am robbing them by not playing to my full potenial.

I dont see much difference from beening rushed through the underworld glitch or beening rushed from his starting castle down to mine in one turn. Sure you can claim that is my own fault for openning the border guard. But if i can get to the border guard first, I get alot of free stuff. I have seen myself and others pull out relics from those tombs, lots! So the incentive to open the border guard is too great to be denied. So perhaps the middle should be changed as well to stop.

Any comments on the tome of earth?

Jex, no one said not to use ddoor, but through the under was just an oversite by Pan when she made it, thought it was too far. Now i wanna tell ya an earthbook story...I was playin JB239 on HG2 and was having amazing luck, i was inferno and had 9 archdevils, 8 golds and 60 mightycows join, he had no such luck with diplo but had 38 power, earth orb and earth book. What would have been a horrendous one way battle turned out to be a great game, his implode killed 17 srchdevils in one hit!!! It turnns out i lost the game, but by only a few creatures, boy earth book sure made that game worth playing out!!! so there

That is the funniest thing I've ever heard.

That "We didn't test out own map and therefor if you use d-door you are not honorable." Now even the mapmakers are insulting players for their own mistakes.

Maybe that should be put in the map description.

How bout "A map based mainly on luck but only certain luck can be exploited or you are DISHONORABLE."

I got beat by Gootch and Winetoo both getting Dim Door on that map last week and only now have I reallized how dishonorable they were :-)

I didn't mind at all because I know when I play that map it comes down to luck everytime. Sometimes it's on my side and sometimes not. Who cares.

People love to insult people's honor around here at the drop of a hat. If anything is dishonorable it is judging other people and calling them dishonorable for how they play.

And to everyone who thinks not reporting their wins is honor let us just all not report them anymore.

How bout a story where you just report the game and forget it. They knew what they were getting into when they started playing and ToH games are meant to be reported.

Is that honor? Who knows.

Honorable win.

Yeah, I recommend Mike Tyson to read this thread also, not hurting too much his opponents, in fact, every fight should be a question of honor. Kill them nice please.Btw, hopefully we are in front of a computer, so your ear is still safe.Only this makes me honorable.

Yes Salamandre,

And if he wins by a lucky punch it should not count.

I think someone thought the thread said "The time my opponent didn't take his win and bailed me out."

I guess if that happened to me I'd probably like it too.

Anyone want to play me under this new HONOR code?

If you win don't report it. If I make a mistake we reload the save. That's not honor. That's really nice. But not honor.

Sal you have beaten me a hundred times and not reported. 2 weeks ago you beat me on divided loyalties and did not report.

Your dream has come true. Today I crown you King of Honor.

Honorific

I enjoyed reading this board. My 2 cents.  Wins should always be reported to more accurately gauge player ratings/skill/experience.  The honor is in the combat, glory is in the victory.  Victory is a fickle bird that will take flight from you even when you have outplayed your adversary.  Judge yourself and opponents not on the outcome but how hard the heroes fought.

Salamandre its good to see you are still alive. =)

My honor list:
(in no particular order)

Salamandre
Mocara
Sir Alkis
Frank
Flamingo
Antal
Vesuvius
Beowulf
Driller
Starknight
TRoPPo
J'Esradi
Sisyphus
Gray
Bert(Solmyr)
Tamanrasset
Phoenix Nemesis
The Vulture
Blaster
Braveheart
DarkWolf
Illender
Mad Scientist
Melissa X
Mook
The_Wiz
Quebec Dragon
Lord Kridon
Duncan Idaho
Merlin
Siberhusk
Jareky

...and many more.

Thanks for the battles.

What is honor?

hmm.. Winning in this map? Battle for honor?? (JOKE)

Some reports here are losing a point.

I was not saying that
DDOOR USING VICTROY is dishonorable. or.
NOT REPORTING HIS WINS IS some kind of honorable
action.

Everyone will know the point.

What is honor?

Let's study 1st What is dishonor??

Obiously, dishonor contains many invalid actions
of avoiding his defeats he originally supposed to
get. Such as cheating, abusing, or not reporting
his lost, running away during the game.. etc.

So,, If one gives up his victory as his conviction
dictates, just because of that this victory is not
he deserves it.
I would not hesistate to call him honorable.

CUz.
This kind of action is obviously opposite to the
DISHONORABLE actions mentioned above.
DIS- DISHonor = HONOR
Isn't it?

Incredilbly, Extremely Honorable play

When win the dishonorable player who using cheating
map-editing..quitting.. every dirty methods..
- i'm not sure he did..

Especially in map "Battle for honor"

Especially when I was castle knight.. and opponents
Inferno demoniac.
- in fact, I was necro death knight while he inferno.

Also especially when I was white color. while my opponent black.
- in fact, there is no black and white color.

And, at last when I forgive him begging my mercy.
and let him alive over and over again.
- because It would not effect my victory!!

And not reporting my WIN!!
-Because he was damn PLEBES 900 around, while i was
captain, not getting any point even if I report my wins.

What an honorable play!!

h2 and the rest of this stuff...

To Mocara - the mapmaker not testing maps and then calling people dishonorable? eh?  I'm the first mapmaker and i dun think i said a word in this thread till now... here's the scoop on hourglass, i made hg basically just to play with friends and it got popular, it had bugs and stuff (one being d-dooring thru the under, but that was one of many)  so i fixed it - and that fix never got posted at toh - then jb 'remixed' the map and i think used the 1st version of it but anyways - oops d-door was possible and fixing it was overlooked.  wacko's comments at jex were in jest - note the lil smiley face.. no need to be up in arms!!

I think honorable people are the people who lose a game and even if their opponants have every possible little element of the game go their way - they say good game rather than, boy were u lucky - and the winners that point out the good strats their opps used.  and especially people who use their p's and q's and eat everything on their plate!! Dishonorable players gloat over wins, accuse people of cheating cuz they don't understand how they just got smoked, and are very likely to run with scissors!!

I also think some of you guys get a little bit silly in here, making personal attacks or calling some players 'cheap' some players 'whiney' stupid etc etc... we should maybe remember that behind the type u see are people, and if your criteria for evaluating a person's worth is based on how they play a game - well simply put there's something wrong with you.

I can understand if someone who doesn't like hit and run says i hate that tactic, or whatever - but im seeing it go to a more personal level in here where its somehow making those who hit and run bad people.. thats just nuts

So who do i think are honorable people?  I think people who go out to have a good game, playing to their own style (whatever that may be) with the intention of just kicking back, thinking hard , maybe even learning a trick or 2 and having fun are the honorable ones.

I wont make a list 'cuz there are far too many to name, and i'd feel bad if i missed a good one

Good Luck and Have Fun!
