Poll Question:
When Did You Start Playing HOMM?

I have played since HOMM1, but some people here aren't even familiar with HOMM2, and some people played King's Bounty. So, what was the first HOMM game you played?

Responses:
HOMM0 (also known as King's Bounty)
HOMM1
HOMM2
HOMM3
I've never played, I'm just a poser.

I've been playing for 4 years now, and the first Heroes game i played was Heroes2.
Where the creatures had upgrades, and some of them didn't.
I'd only heard about Heroes 1 before Heroes 2, but never actually played it.
But as i've heard, there wasn't much difference between Homm1 and Homm2, apart from the graphics.

I got a demo disc of heroes 1 in the mail, it only allowed me to play for 3 weeks, yet it let me choose all standard scenarios, at this time I had NO MONEY, and my dad would just give me a little money here and there for some candy, so I couldnt exactly buy the full thing, I don't know how much later it was, but I saw heroes 2 in stores and I wanted it, and it came with heroes one (just the cd) full version, so I got 2 games for the price of one

I got the homm Millenium pack about a 2 months ago July 11 to be exact. So I've only played Homm2 and HOmm 1 once but in my opinion the graphice on that almost look worse than the ones in homm1 I mean theyre so pixely!! But ever since I got it I jumped straight online 1st to Gamepsy then to the here(or the Zone) thank God!! As much as u may all hate teh zone trust me its better then Gamespy. Well guess I'm like the least experienced of everyone on here. But, I'll tell the rest of my story in a post coming soon. HEH-heh

Heroes 2 started the addiction for me, then out of curiousity, I found a cheap copy of Heroes 1, and found it just as fun in a different way. So, I went back and forth for a while until I upgraded my PC and bought Heroes 3. Now, I have them all installed, and play whichever one suits my mood at the time.

I started to like heroes back in 1997. I often played the demo. My friend too. I remember him having a single unit of 50 black dragons. Then HoMM3 came out. It was cool and all, but WHY DID THEY PUT THE GRIFFINS TO CASTLE??? Then my brother's friend lost three of my CDs. He gave me his HoMM2 CD and owes me three different games. Then my favourite magazine put HoMM1 on their CD.

I haven't been playing all that long. My ex started playing Homm3 when the computer was purchased and then I challenged him to a hotseat game. A few days after that, we broke up, but I kept the comp and found TOH and now I've been playing online for about a year.

Faces come and faces go, I wonder how many will be around for the Homm4 season of TOH?

I'd expect to see 80 percent of the board sign up...

It was a cold day as i recall, with an icy wind outside. Back in those days of course the internet was in black and white and only worked for 2 hours a day. Of course it was cheaper back then............ you could buy a good computer for under a pound and still have change for the bus ride home, ah those were the days..........

Or they can always play

also known as King's Bounty Deluxe (playstation 2)

Even the text is same. Over 12 years old game with updated graphics on PS2. Hah! The funniest thing is this quote found at the official website:

How long is it?

Lets see.... I started with Heroes 1 and got hooked.

Things were cheaper in the "Olden" days but not Computers!
My dad paid $2400. for an Apple II!! The salesman said it comes with 16k or 32k but he didnt think anyone would ever use 32k I was almost 7 years old then and I kind of took it over from dad and upgraded the 32k to 64k and then I had an Apple II+ !!!!!!!!
No disk drive at all then, programs were input from a Radio Shack cassette tape player. My first floppy disk drive was a major investment and a major improvement. LATER I got a 300 baud modem to connect to the world. Needless to say there were no graphics to download anywhere anyway.

I remember playing one of Ken Williams' first games. Think about this... His home phone number was on the zip-lock baggie that the game came in!!! I called him to get a hint about the game because everytime I looked under a rock a rattlesnake bit me and I died. Ken said "Look under ALL the rocks". Sure enough I had missed one and the game continued.

Ken later founded "Sierra Software" married Roberta and became a multi-millionaire.  While I wasted my life looking under ALL the rocks

Ahhhhh...... Good Times!

I started with a homm2 demo disc that was a giveaway with some magazine, and it was the best demo game I have ever found, it gave lots of maps to play and I played it to death.  I then got a full version really cheap at the supermarket.  Well needless to say I was addicted by then so I bought homm3..  But my addiction wasnt complete till I discovered online play about 8 months ago and it has changed my whole life...hehe

I'd never heard of Heroes before my hubby introduced me to it.  He already had H3 and AB but started "properly" with making me play 2 then moving on....

Incidentally, he had Kings Bounty and would have started with that, but it wasn't compatible with the newer computer!

PS2 doesn't sux

It got DVD player in and lots of cool games - Metal Gear Solid, Gran Turismo 3, Twisted Metal, Dead or Alive (though I preffer Soul Calibur on Dreamcast). But the start-up PS2 games really were bad...

It's really hard to program it, and that makes sick the developers - so the good games will start to appear after year or so when developers are deeply into it. (well Gran Turismo 3 is the first one i think).
