Heroes and benifiting from other heroes skills
I was reading through the rules to get ready for my first tournement next week and had a question. As the rules state "Heroes act like Unit cards in battle, with the exception that they can not be stacked with other Heroes". Does this mean that a hero can benifit from another heroes skill that states it effects your units (I am pretty sure it does not effect itself)? Also there are spells that state they only effect Units, such as armageddon, do these effect heroes as well (I would assume so)?

Heroes will get bonuses from other hero's skills. For example, if you have a Knight with tactics in your army and a Priest, the Priest would get to attack one phase early like all the other units in the army (except the Knight). Also with the shield type artifacts. If in the same scenario the Knight had a Dwarven Shield, the Knight gets +1 DEF and the Priest would get +2 DEF.
As for spells that affect "units", any Hero is a unit.
Good luck in your first tourney!

Thank you that is what I thought just wanted to make sure. As a follow up if you have two heroes with the same skill at different levels (say basic and expert) do the effects stack or do you take the highest avaliable level.

That one is covered in the rules.
"Many skills (like Tactics and Defense) add bonuses to friendly units. When more than one Hero is in an army, such effects are not cumulative. Friendly Creature Stacks only receive the higher of the 2 bonuses given
by the same skill."
