The chronicles of The Unholy One

This story is a self-written RP by me, it will chronicle the journeys of the Unholy One, my character in LHW in a time hundreds of thousands of years before the Forsaken War. It will tell of how the Unholy One's life, and undeath, and how he came to ally with the other Forsaken Ones, it will follow up to his defeat in the forsaken war.

Since no one has bothered to note the history of the forsaken ones before the forsaken war, i will do it. It shouldn't conflict too much with LHW, and in the event that it does, history gets lost and changed over the course of millions of years, does it not? Anyways, The Unholy One was originally a powerful living necromancer, and the Forsaken Ones were not always allied, or aware of each others existance, other than the four horsemen.

________________________________________________________________

"Go! Leave this kingdom now, and never return! You are hereby BANISHED!"

And thus were the words that perhaps caused all the troubles in the modern words. As Sendon, once the King of Athalons cheif advisor, was banished for practicing the dark and forbidden arts of necromancy. Sendon swore his revenge, whether it be in years, days, or millenia, he would have his revenge.

He had foolishly tried to raise his dead wife back from the dead, but it wasn't the same. No...he created an abomination that ravaged much of the countryside singlehandedly, before several of the kings knights had slain it. He meant no harm, and performed the forbidden act only out of desperation and love, but no...his actions cost him all he had ever owned. His house, and belongings, would shortly be seized by the greedy hands of the king.

Sendon was escorted to the gates of Athalon, and locked out. He strayed away from the gates, and walked into the forest. There, he met his old friend, Derrick.

"Did you bring it?"

"Yes, why was this all you asked for, for when you had a fortune stored at your house. Why this, this simple Katana?"

"It has somewhat..sentimental value..to me, besides. The king now owns my property, and he would have noticed if the gold had turned up missing"

"I see...where will you be going?"

"To the village of Fansta. It is a remote village, i will go unnoticed there, as i prepare for revenge."

"I'm coming with you."

"Why, why would you want to come with me? You are aware that if you are seen with me, you will be exiled from these lands as well?"

"I am aware. I have nothing to lose, the king has taken everything from me I have ever known."

"Very well then, we make our way to Fansta"

Sendon and Derrick arrived in the remote village of Fansta. The people of Fansta were a primitive people, a fishing village that lived along the river. They would be easy subjects for his experiments. Sendon immediatly began searching for the graveyard. He would have his revenge. If one undead woman could reap havoc on a kingdom's countryside, what could ten undead, or even twenty, do to the kingdom itself.

Necromancy was a relatively new practice in this world, only having existed a couple years. Sendon swore he would one day be remembered as the greatest Necromancer of all time, the one who conquered the great kingdom of Athalon...yes, he would get his wish, but much more than he had bargained for. Derrick looked at him curiously.

"Are you ok, Sendon?"

"Yes..I'm fine..."

"Then may I ask why we are standing in the middle of a graveyard?"

"You will see."

The people of Fansta paid little attention to the newcomers, as they were quite accustomed to having strangers pass through their lands, they simply assumed that Sendon and Derrick were just two of these normal travelers. They had no idea how wrong they were.

Nighttime set on Fansta, and Sendon and Derrick returned to the graveyard. They looked around, attempting to find someone of importance, a former cheiftan, of some sort. His grave would be extragavantly marked. Then, under a tree, they saw a large marble pillar. It was in a native language, so Sendon and Derrick could only assume that this was someone of importance.

"Begin digging."

"W-w-what? Why?"

"Just do it."

Sendon and Derrick began digging, and it wasn't long till they uncovered a golden casket.

"Take the body, leave the casket."

They opened the casket, and were met with a putrid smell.  The body had been decayed for at least ten years. Maggots crawled through its skull, obviously these primitive people don't believe in preserving their dead. Derrick turned around and threw up on the ground.

"I've never seen anything more sick in my life.."

Sendon, however, was awestruck.

"Its beautiful...take the body. We have work to do."

"I'm NOT touching that thing!"

"Come on, its just a dead man. Are you scared of death?"

"Something has come over you Sendon, you seem to be a man possessed with getting his revenge. Your not actually thinking of raising this guy, are you?"

"Funny, thats what I was thinking, NOW TAKE THE BODY!"

Derrick, attempting to hold down his lunch, lifted the body up carefully, it was barely holding together. When they finally set it down, Derrick jumped in the river, to cleanse himself. Sendon stared at the body curiously.

"Now, it begins..."

OOC: thx

The undead cheiftan sat up apon the alter, and looked around with its one remaining eye. It spoke with a cracked voice, straining to use the last of its vocal cords.

"Why have I been brought from the dead?"

"To serve me, your new master!"

"I see, what is your bidding, master?"

"This is almost too easy...we are in your old village, Fansta, perhaps you may remember it.."

"Yes..vaguely, from another lifetime."

"Good. Then you will return to the throne, and command your people exactly as I say."

"Is that your first wish?"

"No, kill him"

Derrick stumbled back as the Cheiftan and Sendon both stared at him, Sendon grinning evilly.

"W-w-why me?"

"Its simple my old friend, you have become a hindrance in a matter of days. Your consistent whining has really bothered me, and I am really beginning to question your loyalty."

The cheiftan stood up, its bones creaking. It walked towards Derrick and thrust its hand into his stomach, grabbing ahold of his spine through his back.

"Any last words, dear friend?"

Derrick struggled to speak, but managed to get his message across

"I s-s-s-s-shall........h-have my reven-n-nge...in HELL!"

"Odd, I won't see you in hell, as thats not where your going."

"No!!"

The cheiftan pulled at the spine, immediatly killing Derrick. His lifeless body hit the floor with a thud.

"Now, I have two soldiers to add to my undead army."

Sendon looked mischeivously at his two new servants, he felt a slight ting of remorse for his former friend, but he had been shaky, and untrustworthy, for a while now. The process of raising these two back from the dead had taken a great deal of energy from him, there must be another way...He would send Derrick out tommorow to raid one of the libraries, and to find some text on the history of necromancy...Meanwhile, he would retire.

Demons...Evil, foul, demons...who were they? He seemed to know them, all of them.. War was raging on a large empire, larger than that of athalon times three...It seemed to be a war on all that of mankind. Mens horses would shift into foul, unreconizable creatures. Suddenly, he realized he was fighting alongside them.

To his right was a armored arch-devil, summoning imps from the underworld to attack the men. Suddenly he zoomed to his left..another demon, though different, he seemed to be concentrating on a storm overhead...lightning struck man after man..

Then he was in the middle of the battlefield, a mysterious man walked through the battle, as if nothing was happening. Suddenly men began attacking each other, as if possessed. What was going on here??

*GASP*

Sendon woke up, the undead chieftan was sitting on the couch, with a blank stare out of his one eye.

"Go, kill the tribal council here, and reclaim your throne. The people will follow you. Kill anyone who questions your authority. "

"Excuse me, master, but will the people not fear me? I no longer have that body of a human I once possessed...a while ago..."

"Point made."

Sendon looked around, then took off his cloak.

"Wear this, it should cover you."

The cheiftan walked out of the hut. Sendon laid down on the straw mat, thinking about the dream he had just had.

"How did it go?"

"The takeover went..well..master. The tribal council has been disposed of. The people think I am a divine power, returned from the dead to lead them to greatness. And yet, I have no remorse for what I am about to do"

"Which is expected. Ah, look, Derrick returns."

Derrick enters the hut, carrying several scrolls. He barely looks dead, as he was just freshly killed. His face had begun to pale, but no significant signs of decay. He could pass for a living being, until one got closer and noticed he was not breathing. Derrick hands Sendon the scrolls, and stands still.

"Ah, good, Derrick"

Sendon takes the scrolls and retreats to his desk. He studies them intently. The two living dead stand silently, mindlessly, awaiting further orders.

"Ah hah! I have it!"

Derrick begins to read aloud from the scrolls

"One of the pioneers of the forbidden art of Necromancy, Rashid Zakt, was executed by the king of Rohab, under charges of conspiracy to overthrow the king. He was attempting to raise an army of living dead to take over the kingdom. However, while performing the ritual, he was shot and captured, then later tried. After his execution, his cult followers buried him at the Masoleum of Daronia."

"This man holds the secret to what i have been looking for. Derrick, you will accompany me to Daronia."

He looked towards the cheiftan.

"Meanwhile, I want you to begin preparing corpses for me. I shall return"

Four crystals...they looked..beautiful, yet dangerous. He was astounded by their beauty and power. Amazed, and blinded. What were they? Suddenly, he felt his power drained, and he felt lifeless.

Where was he being taken? Ugh..everything felt so faint. He was being carried. These were not humans though...He was roughly thrown in a box, perhaps a casket, the last thing he saw was a young elf, one who he would get to know over time, slamming the lid down onto him.

"AHH!"

Sendon sat up, and looked around. He was in no box. He looked around, and saw the dying embers of the campfire. He looked around for Derrick, and saw him picking at the bones of an unfortunate wanderer who was happening to cross our paths.

"Derrick, come, we must set out now."

Derrick stood up, and followed behind Sendon, traveling at a mild pace.

"There must be a faster way than this. This walking is killing me."

"Horses, master."

"A horse will not approach a walking corpse, you moron."

"Of course, master."

Muttering under his breath, Sendon whispered to himself "I really should learn how to give these things an ability to THINK, especcially if i am to use one as a travelling companion"

"I agree, master"

The sun was beginning to rise, as they approached the city of Daronia. Daronia was a haven of cultists, witches, theives, and murderers. No one would suspect to find him here.

"Rashid was buried little over two hundred years ago, so he should still have some cult followers. I'll just have to ask around"

Normally, In any other city, if he began asking around for a dead man, he would be looked apon as crazy. But Daronia was different than most cities. He entered a bar and sat down.

"One ale please"

"An wha' about yer pale friend here, suh?"

"He doesn't drink"

"Well, he sure does look like he could use a drink."

Sendon grabbed the bartender by the throat, pulled him closer, and whispered in his ear

"I did not ask for a conversation, I asked for an ALE, now, if we have a problem here, my 'pale' friend here, will have no problem slitting your throat, then making you his lunch. Do you understand me??"

He thrust the bartender down, who immediatly began massaging his throat, and poured Sendon his ale. He set it down, and retreated into the back. Sendon downed the ale in one gulp, and yelled out loud into the bar,

"I am looking for someone who can show me to the tomb of Rashid Zakt."

This elicited a few laughs and chuckles from the patrons of the bar. Two men in the corner eyed him intently. Then, he felt a large hand grab him on the shoulder.

"You think you can just come in here and attack the bartender? Your wrong pal."

"No, I don't think im wrong here, but you have tenseconds to let go of my soldier..ten, nine..You know, waiting was never my passion."

Derrick grabbed the bodyguard by the throat, and bit out a large slab of his neck, and proceded to tear into him, like a rabid wolf. Entrails flew across the bar, and most of the patrons fled the bar, including the bartender.

"NOW, I ask again, Do any of you know where I can find the tomb of Rashid Zakt."

Then he blacked out.

"Please Ashlei, please don't die, I need you!"

"I'm sorry Sendon, but the almighty one needs me."

"Oh, to hell with the almighty one! I need you more!"

"I'm sorry S-s-sendon......"

"NO! ASHLEI!!!"

He began to stir, and looked up. There were several men, dressed in Purple and black robes. One of them, who, in addition to the Purple and Black, had a red stripe running across the middle of his robe. He stood there, silently. He had been in the bar with him.

"Who are you and what have you done to me?"

"I Am Marstes, and we are followers of Rashid Zakt. Not many people ask about Rashid these days, and even fewer travel with an undead companion"

"How do you know he is undead, and what have you done with him?"

"It is not hard to tell a living body from a dead one. He is fine, we have him chained seperately. He didn't take to kindly to being handled by one of his own kind. "

Marstes nodded his head over to his companion, a rather large skeleton, in a robe. It had also been in the bar.

"Now, it is obvious that you know the secrets of Necromancy. What do you wish with Rashid?"

"I wish to speak to him, if possible, i will raise him from the dead. I seek his advice and tutoring."

Laughter echoed from around the dark room.

"Raise him from the dead? HA! You will speak to him, of course, in the morning. Tonight, you sleep."

And then he blacked out again.

"Yes...she will be back in no time, In fact, it will be as if she had never died!"

Sendon lifted his deceased wives body, still warm, and carried it gently to his private chambers. He set her down gently, caressing her forehead. He bent over and kissed her forehead, smiling softly. He stood up and turned towards his cabinet. He pulled out a Katana, an odd artifact uncovered in the tomb of a magi. It was said it had the power to bring people back from the dead.

Necromancy was a forbidden art in this realm, but he was willing to sacrifice all he had, just so he and his wife could be together again. He took the Katana over to his wife, and grabbed her wrist. He located one of the main arteries and slowly peirced his wives arm. She got stone cold, and all body warmth left her body. Nothing else happened.

"It didn't work...I'm sorry Ashlei, I couldn't bring you back from the dead..."

Sendon sat up in a cold sweat. He remembered his wife, and attempted to remember what he had done his deed for. Love, is what it was intended for. But he felt no love anymore, not for any living creature or object. Why? Why had he felt no remorse when he murdered his best friend in cold blood? An odd change was coming over him. Was it that his heart was broken apon his wifes death? Or was it when he had been banished from everything he had ever known. He could no longer fathom the concept of Love. He remembered it, but did not remember how to love. It was a compicated feeling. Sendon stood up, and smoothed out his hair. He walked over to the cracked mirror and looked at himself, he noticed he was becoming rather pale himself. Staring at himself, he began to wonder if he was losing his mind. Then a knock came at the door, awakening him from his trance.

"Yes, just a minute.."

He looked back at the mirror, and managed to stifle his scream. The face looking back at him in the mirror was not his, but that of a skeletal figure, wrapped in a cloak. He slammed the mirror to the floor, as the knocks at the door grew louder and more frequent. Stumbling over to the door, he fiddled with the doorknob, trying to wrench it open. He was panicking, why? What was going on? Then he just thrust himself at the door unexplicably, breaking through it. He looked up, and two robed men stared at him curiously.

"We have come to take you to Rashid."

"Yes...yes, of course"

"If I may ask, how is it possible to speak to a dead man?"

The two hooded men laughed silently under their hoods, indicated by the shaking that could be visibly seen.

"A man as powerful as Rashid does not see death as an obsticle, yet a passage."

"I see..."

The two hooded men led Sendon to a door, and stopped. They stood there, intently, as if expecting Sendon to do something. Sendon looked at them curiously, wondering what was going on. Was Rashid behind the door? Were they going to accompany him? What if it was all a trap? Paranoia and fear began to settle over Sendon. He could not see the robed strangers faces. He felt something tighten around his heart, he sank to his knees, and looked around. It was a trap! He had been decieved! Then, all the fear went away. He stood up, perfectly normal. What had just happened?

"You have passed the test, you may enter"

"Will I not be accompanied?"

"We are unworthy to be in the presence of Rashid, however, you are"

He said those last words with a hint of bitter resentment. Sendon grinned at him, and walked into the room. It was an empty black room, with a tomb laying in the middle of the room. He could not see anything.

I know what it is you seek.

"What? Who said that?"

Over here

"Where?"

No, over here.

Sendon spun around, irritated.

OVER HERE YOU FOOL

Sendon closed his eyes, and opened them. No longer was he in the tomb, but a graveyard. Sendon felt at ease here, but, oddly he remembered a time when he would fear the dead. He turned around behind him, and there stood a man, around 6 foot 5, very tall and skinny. He had a long black goatee, and eyes as black as the midnight sky. He wore a long black robe, and was slightly balding.

"Rashid Zakt."

"Correct."

"Where am I?"

"That is irrelevant. What matters is why you came.

I know of your dreams. Of your wife, of your visions."

"What are they?"

"Visions. Of your past, and of your future."

"But I don't understand..."

"You will. Now, I must go."

"But wait! I have so many questions!"

"Your questions...have been answered."

The desolate cemetary dissolved and he was back in the dark tomb. He glanced closely at the tomb and noticed the ancient rune carvings on it. Suddenly, he understood it all. Sendon walked out of the room, and his escorts were gone. He walked down the dark hallway alone, unsure of where he was going. Then he heard a multitude of voices echoing in his head

Leave!

Leave this place!

LEAVE NOW! NEVER RETURN!

Sendon found his way out, and never returned. He knew where would go now.

"No! Don't hurt me! NOORHGHH!!!"

"ASHLEI! NO! STOP THIS!"

Sendons undead wife pillaged through the farmers house, brutally murdering person after helpless person. It would not harm Sendon though, it was as if he was invisible, watching the onslaught of helpless civilians. He watched as his former wife dissected children, women, and the elderly. Men attempted to take up arms but were cut down before they even had a chance.

What had he done? He had raised an abomination, not his wife. Eventually, several knights came down to see what all the fuss was about. They had expected a riot, what they got was much more. Ashlei charged towards the first knight, knocking him straight off his horse. She ripped off his breastplate, as if it was paper, and gorged herself on the intestines of the once glourious knight.

"ASHLEI!"

She stood up, and turned around. Her pale, cold face was different. Her once beautiful, charming eyes were now cold and ruthless. Then, her head was no longer there, but on the ground. His distraction had bought time for one of the other knights to retaliate. The knight looked at him, and then rode off...Sendon knew things were about to change.

"No...No more...I can't handle it no more..."

Sendon regained his composure. The splitting headaches from these visions were enough to drive any sane man to the brink of insanity. He was almost at his destination now, soon all the power in the world would be his. He approached the castle. He was now in the realm of Grationia, the capital of all known lands. This place looked familar...It was the one in his earlier visions...He dismounted his horse and walked into an ancient building, one that seemed to be falling apart every second.

It was a library, closed for the night. There were tons and tons of ancient books, ones older than his grandfather...Some of the greatest works of literature resided here on these hallowed shelves. But none of these were what he was looking for.

There was a door, sealed shut by great and powerful magi. However, at his approach the doors seemed to shiver, and gave way just like that...There was a small room, and in that small room resided an artifact stronger than the sharpest blade; more powerful than the mightiest king; and more deceiving than the slyest theif...It was a book, the Libro dei morti, The Book of the dead.

Finally, an Update!

Sendon grasped the Book as if it were his last chance for survival. He stared at it for what seemed like ages. Voices began to fill Sendons head, the voices of the dead. They cried out to him, screamed, begged for help. Voices of ages past, which were nothing more than relics of a time once forgotten.

He cautiously opened the book, it was written in a language Sendon had never seen before. Yet, strangely, he knew every word of it. Sendon sat in the libary for hours, pouring over the endless chapters, gaining more and more knowledge by the second. Little did he know, the longer he read it, the more his soul was being consumed.

Derrick knew, and saw it. But he could not speak or move while the book was open. Suddenly, he opened his eyes and looked around for what seemed the first time in ages. Was he alive again? The power Sendon held over him seemed to be gone. He looked down at his hand, and saw the pale cold flesh of his hand. He looked around and noticed Sendon absorbed into the book. What had caused his awakening? A burst of anger swept through Derrick, anger at being killed, anger at being turned into this Abomination. He charged at Sendon with all of his might, but couldn't touch him. It was as if Sendon was incorperal, his swings passing right through him.

Suddenly, Sendon blacked out yet again. However, this time he did not have a vision of his wife, but another woman. A good woman who was consistenly abused by her husband. She dabbled in magics as well, but for a different purpose. Sendon knew in his heart he must go to this woman and find her.

Early morning came before Sendon woke up. Derrick was still attempting to kill Sendon while he slept, but to no avail. A voice rang out through the library.

"Hello? Who's there?"

Sendon snapped awake and looked at the Librarian, who had came in early.

"Who in the blue hell are you? What the hell is that thing?"

Sendon glared at the man, who suddenly began writhing in agony. His blood vessels began to burst, he screamed and began contorting his body in Unnatural ways. Suddenly, a bone popped out of his fingertips, then the rest of his finger. His entire skeleton began bursting through his skin violently, tearing it as if it was wet paper.

Soon, there were two beings. A bloodied skeleton, who hung lifelessly in midair, and a sack of flesh, meat, and blood laying on the ground. The skeleton's eye sockets lit up, and then it collapsed into dust. Sendon turned around and glared back at Derrick, who stood in awe of the entire thing. Derrick murmered a few words.

"Sendon, what have you beco-"

He stopped speaking as he could not, for he too collapsed into dust.

"Your services will no longer be required anymore. Sendon is dead. I am now the most powerful necromancer the world has ever seen!"

Sendon began walking out of the Library. The plant life around where Sendon walked now began to wither and die. As soon as Sendon stepped out of the libary, it collapsed into a pile of dust. Sendon stood outside of the fallen library, as the entire vegetation of the area, once a lush green valley, was now nothing but a desolate, withered up region.

"I..AM..THE..UNHOLY ONE!"
