ICTC: The High Wind Clan

LAST UPDATE:
20 Jan 2005: Creating description on heroes. Changes the appearance of Laborer thus less 'human like'. Change the name though. Adding more rules in Valkyrie's soul collector. Add more heroes. Change how Lancer Sylph's Magical Lance method. Change the name of Elite Valkyrie into Matriach Valkyrie. Several Creatures switch Place, again for less human-like reason still reconsider the balance reason. Expect to find pictures in the near future. Thanx for the feedbacks and inputs.

25 Jan 2005: Changing the Sylph to non-range attacker.

26 Jan 2005: Adding more racial special, In-game racial special detail.

The High Wind Clan

Aka: The Dwarves, The Warrior of the air
Associated Colors: sky blue, snowy white
Worship: Sylath, the Dragon of Air
Core philosophy: "Speed of the wind, Power of the Storm"

High Wind clan is the clan of multiculture. Contains primarly of Human and Dwarves. High Wind clan live in the mountains, they are miner and hunter. Their army prefer might than magic, a combination between agile of human (air Warrior) and endurance of the Dwarves.

In the game, High Wind Clan is a faction of semi-range attacker. While the word of 'air' srongly related to 'flying units', the only flying units are: Serpents and Garudas. Valkyries should be considered as semi-fly unit because they only receive the ability after upgrade. High Wind Clan is more like a semi-range faction, but of course with penalties (in turns, manas or soul pool) for better explaination read the creatures' ability.

BRIEF HISTORY

The origins

3 YSD: Birth of the Falcon Empire

Falcon the Great unifies the human kingdoms (founding the empire that will one day become the Haven faction). A prophecy tells that the Falcon line shall endure as long as the world does.

28-40 YSD: Wars of Fire - First great demon incursion.

Most of the Angels perish during these wars. The survivors take refuge in the Falcon Empire, which is increasingly turned away from the Dragon of Air-Sylath, and toward the Dragon of Light.

48 YSD: the Falcon Empire becomes the "Holy" Falcon Empire - Founding of the Free Cities of the East

Emperor Brian Falcon gives absolute power to the Church of the Dragon of Light. The Human kingdom is renamed "Holy Falcon Empire". Dissent grows among many citizens who resent being forced to abandon their faith in Sylath. Many will leave the Empire's territory to found the Free Cities of the East.

50-58 YSD: Uprising Civil war in Cities of the East

After founding the cities of the east, the follower of Sylath build up a community and soon become a strong power in cities of the east. The society broke up into 2 an uprising occurs. The Sylath followers call themselves "Children of the air" while the opposition "Fire Bearer". Sylath follower's lack of trust soon scatter their faction and forced to the north eastern mountain and in the end ally themselves with the Dwarves.

The modern Ages

815 YSD: New King of Ashbar - The born of High Wind Clan

Odin Frostbane, a dwarf inherit the throne of Ashbar and become the leader of the clan. Odin's faith to Sylath drive the country and the rest of the dwarves to follow the path of Sylath. Soon the name of the clan changed into "High Wind Clan"

822 YSD: The mysterious Refugee

A group of people come to Ashbar, requesting a settlement after their hometown purged down. King Odin Frostbane accept them open handed. In fact, Ashbar has been a multiculture Country for years.

825-830 YSD: The necromancer of high wind

The misterious refugee soon declare themselves as Necromancers and call themselves necromancer of High Wind. A masscare happen. Many victims from the High Wind Clan fall. However, the help come from the clan "Fire Bearer" who admit to have the same fate. The combination of both power gains the upper hand and the necromancer is banished.

969 YSD: 6 th eclipse - Queen Isabel's War

A massive army of the undead marching towards the captial city of Haven, rumor said that the queen has made a cursed pact with the undead in order to defeat the demon army. Afraid of the other mascare to happen, King Odin Frostbane send up his troops to purge any undead and if needed destroy the Haven who made pact with them.

_______________________________________________________

Racial Special:

- Einherjar's Soul Collector:
In the end of the battle, Heroes got a fix number of their death units. The units is converted into soul stone. At their hometown, they may call up the fallen souls back to life with a cost of resources of course.

The higher the skill, the higher the souls kept per battle and the lower the cost to recall them.

Example:
1. at basic lvl: 10 souls can be stored in soul stone.
2. Unit lvl 1 consume 1 soul, unit lvl 2 consume 2 soul and so on
3. At the end of the battle, here is the battle result: 10 Dwarven Warrior died, 1 Wind Serpent died.
4. At this state (post battle) you may choose to:
a. Keep 1 Wind Serpent and 1 Dwarven Warrior = 9 souls used OR
b. Keep 10 Dwarven Warrior but you may not keep a wind serpent because 2 dwarven warrior + 1 Wind serpent = 7 + 4 = 11 exceed 10 for the basic skill lvl.

However, if your hero loose the battle, the next time you recruit them the soul stone will be empty. Ow, did I mention? You have to buy the soul stone at the same building you ressurect the fallen allies.

- Rune Word Attach

Runes
1. Thor: stand for 'air' or 'god'. Increasing one your chosen creature with +1 Attack and +1 Speed. Order it, will increase the effect. e.g: Thor-Thor will give your chosen troop +2 attack and +2 speed. Thor-Thor-Thor-Thor (maximized) will give +4 attack and +4 speed. Thor-Thul-Thor, will give you +1 attack +1 Speed of your chosen unit (e.g: Sylph) the second Thor give you +1 attack and +1 speed of your chosen unit (you can't choose the same unit, in example: Sylph). The effect will last until the runes is disenchanted.

2. Thul: stand for 'spiritual'. 1st Thul, give you chance to learn 1 rune attacking spell 'Rune Strike'. The spell power will not be effected by skill mastery instead by how is your Rune order. Thul only give you 1 chosen magic with basic power, Thul-Thul will give your Rune Strike with advance power. Thul-Thor-Thul will not stack the effect Rune Strike damage stays at Basic lvl. Rall-Rall-Thor-Rall will stay at the highest rate, in this case advance power of Rune Strike. Rune Strike spell don't use any mana point.

3. Rall: Stands for 'range' or 'planes'. 1st Rall will empower your Range attacker (including: Warrior's Throw Hammer and Valkyrie's Nibelung Valesti) by +2% of total damage. Rall-Rall-Rall will stack the effect to +6% of total damage (3 x 2%). Rall-Thor-Rall will not stack the effect Range attacker damage stays at 2% bonuses. Rall-Rall-Thor-Rall will stay at the highest rate, in this case 4%.

Runes Combination
Runes is linkable. So if the rule said: Thul-Thor, If you use the link: Thul-Thor-Thor-Thor, you got both Thul-Thor effect and Tripel Thor effect (read rune words above). So if your link: Thul-Thul-Thul-Thor you will gain both triple Thul effect and Thul-Thor effect. Here is the allowed combination:

- Thul-Thor: Give 2% lower price to recruit Sylph and Valkyrie. Thul-Thor-Thul-Thor give 4% lower price to recruit Sylph and Valkyrie.

- Rall-Thor: increase your Crossbowman's Double Hit and Ranger's Triple hit chance by 3%. Rall-Thor-Rall-Thor stack the effect to +6%.

- Rall-Thor-Thul: increase your Matriach Valkyrie's Nibelung Valesti damage by 30%

And they are just LVL1? bah-ro-ken! Vastly overpowered... Increasing mine production by 1 a week (not a day!) and random production of one resource unit (again a week) by 20 creatures would be justified for lvl3 or 4 critters...

What if it is the end of the grid? Does it knock him to the sides?

Anyway knocking an archer away would be a bad idea...

updated, yup it looks like the laborer & miner abilities are too powerful if apply daily. Well, it is only a town idea anyway, don't take it too seriously (except if the idea will be used in the real game). I would rather you see the concept of the idea, I will much much more appriciate it.

Oakwarrior & Blitzkrieg: aye, heheheh just run out the idea at the moment, I am planning on making the history. I need to make 'reason' on why the high mountain dwarves make an ally with Sylath exiler while of course connect it with the major event in the real HV history.

TNT: Yup, but it is applicable to keep your range attacker from being attacked by melee attacker. Well, it is matter of how you use it.

Expect to find pictures soon I am asking my friend, he is good at drawing.

sorry to say this admira but this The High Wind Clan looks like Haven which has been hit on the head, thus becoming dwarf-like

just look

peasant: laborer
dwarven crossbowban: crossbowman
i dont know what a "Garuda Hawk" is but it sounds like a griffin somewhat
dwarven warrior: crusader
Sylph: not so much a priest but very similar to monks in H3
Valkyrie: cavilier

the differences are many and obvious

Valkyrie, u could get away with but not the rest. the laborer, crossbowman and warrior are much to similar to haven for my liking

sorry to say. . .

Lord_Pc: now you consider it. OK, hint hint hint. First, read the history? it is not completed but the current history is purely a copy from Haven Faction history. First about Crossbowman and warrior, maybe I will switch place? I mean, they are dwarves ok, Garuda is somewhat different but yes they are flying, you may say they are similar to Griffin. Second, Sylph is not human nor Dwarf it is a spiritual being born from the air. While the priest and Inquisitor in Haven is Melee attacker and a human, Sylph is somehow a range attacker, a caster and most importantly not a human nor dwarf. So there are different here.  The only human army in this faction is Laborer. Valkyrie somehow is semi-human and they didin't ride a horse. Elite Valkyrie given a ethereal wing so they are not truly a human. This is all I can say, if you still think that this is a haven knocked their head, I can say less. Thanks for the input anyway.

More hint: Read the creature's in-game ability, it makes a lot of different. One more, thanks again for the input

gwyndolium: Well, in the real myth, Valkyrie doesn't do any battle. Their duty is only to collect souls to send them to vallhala in order to anticipate ragnarok. As for original Heroes (1 - 4), Titans should be the one who give birth to gods even Zeus himself and in the end Zeus beat it and bring peace to the world. In the game, titan controled by human's wizard? Or Should I say Gorgon. Gorgon is not a Cow, it is a woman with snake hair. Well, Medusa IS a gorgon. A cow with stoning stare is Catoblepas.

So, I have my own version of Valkyrie and based on the legend that I read, They didn't ride anything (Pegasus is come from Greek myth while Valkyrie is from Norse Myth) so they don't actually connected. Thanks for the input anyway.

It works like this:
- First the Ranger will do the normal attack.
- After that, the chance counted
- if the chance triggered, the second hit occur at the same target (with lower damage)
- thereafter, 50% chance to do the third hit.

So it is a matter of choice which I found is interesting in the new HV where creature will lost their former ability after being upgraded. So in Dwarven Crossbowman and Ranger, there are 2 choice:
- Choose Crossbowman, and you will gain more often double hit 10% OR
- Choose Ranger, with lower second hit 5% but better statistic and a chance to do the third hit.

The rest, you may read it. Tell me if you like/dislike it.
