I have noticed that It's very common thing to name factions by the names consists of more than one element (and doesn't meaning the name of any place) In my opinion it isn't good, because all of the official factions have names like that.

Free cities of the east, WOW! you seems to be realy courage to choose thease nation, still it could be a part of the original campain, I wouldn't touch this faction.
btw, I have noticed (or rather Hellward does)that probably game makers has created Free cities of the east as the Orc's nation.

EXTREMALY nice special abilities, I think that it's the strongest side of this project, really great.

Ok I get idea of valkyries because of soul stones, but what for do you mix fantasy reality witch myths. You even don't base on its full form, nor its elements but ony taking names and "monsters" for me it looks a bit weird(...and garuda, what the hell is it?)
I think that I dont have to mention that i dislike idea of Serpent ; ), but i really fell in love with yours sylph unit, really good idea to choose a spirit like that.

Sory that im so critique right after the end of contest, but at last I have time to take a first breath since I started to work with my project, so thats why I have just started to seriously read others ICTC.

First, hey it is ok. Critiques are always welcome and help me much.

Garuda is a giant gold feather bird. In some myth, Garuda refer as Human-bird (head of bird and body of human with wings) but I choose the giant bird (resembles Roc actually). Actually I don't plan on taking a full myth (which in my project mostly Norse) because ppl will say about unoriginality, So, what I did here is taking the basic "principle" on how the norse Myth (Valkyries, Rune stones, soul collector) and mix it with some 'heroes-type' gameplay while trying to not ruin the basic principle of both the myth and gameplay. Well, it IS a difficult thing, but in this project this is the best I can do (also by using History as the 'reason' to keep up with the myth feel and gameplay aspect).

about serpent, I must agree with you, I don't like it as well, it is less wind-like creature. I am thinking about a replacement. I have several options actually. But can't decide the best one currently.

I have carefully read all of the dwarvish factions, and here I am with rates:

Race: 7 (I think that units are too mixed and all faction is too chaotic, and so and so on, too much mistaks)
Creatures: 7 (well constructed units)
History: 6 (too short and too strongly mixed with Free Cities)
Balance: 7 (balance of the world - perfect, but units balance looks a bit disturbed)
Originality: 8 (sorry, but it's nothing special for me just another mix)

Total: 35

Race-1-5 adaptability to game + 1-5 interest if orginal or not

History-1-5 fitting with the game + 1-5 length too short or long

Creatures-1-5 adaptability to game + 1-5 interest if orginal or not

Balance-1-5 balance with other factions + 1-5 Balance within this faction

Orginality-1-5 overall with adaptability to game + 1-5 just lack of anything new to brand new concept

I don't understand how people says bad things of one aspect and give high ratings... well, here is mine:

I liked this rune system, and the soulstones. But the main problem is the dwarves themselves. They just have some unfitting features and strange allies.

History:5(a bit quickly done in my opinion most of it is already in the Heroes 5 chronology.Does not explain much.)

Creatures:7(while the creatures are not so interesting for me the abilities make them attractive)

Balance:6(although the creatures abilities are balanced somehow the racial ability is too strong.You can nearly hav e no losses with that ability during normak skirmishes.maybe there should be a chance of reviving.)

Originality:7

Hye i love ur town.  The history make it a great town for a campaign.i really like ur sylph it sounds great and i really like the soul stone idea.  The only thing i found worng with it was the dwarven crossbowmen. I have never heard of a such thing as a dwarven archer, it just doesnt seem right.  Other than that ur town is perfect, love the way they are like hiding, away from the others(like i said would make for a great campaign)

Ooops here my rating

race: 7

History: 8 (i really liked it)

Creatures: 9 ( i loved the sylph and i like the garudo, just dont quite like the idea of a dwarven archer)

Balance: 7 (only mess up is the lvl 1s, they seem to powerful)

Originality: 9 (the soul stone idea rocks, i like the Norse approach)

Overall: 40/50

Ur town rocks man, i hope u win, u would of too if it hadnt of been for that git comfused spirit, i have no idea what he was doing giving u 4's and 5's!

History: 10 (Supurb I'll give you that!)

Race: 7 (I like the idea of Sylath, but using free cities of the east is risky. idea of their multiculturality is not expaned, original ideas like stone collectors- but you didn't mention how & why did they obtain their skills- this is propablly conected withe expanding valkyries origins)

History: 7 (nice idea with necromancers, but the way you interpreted the campaign (969YSD) is weird (undead?), origins of dwarves & valkyries are not revealed, the history is written to generally (almost no concrete facts and of course too short)

Creatures: 7 (i dislike serpents & ants- don't fit ashan & dwarves, dwarfs using 2 weapons (?)- my sugestion is shield, throw hammer(?), sylphs are nice)

Balance: 7(units seems a bit overpowered, too much  of "random damage")

Originality: 8 (many intresting ideas)

Total: 36

To be more obiective I've decided to rate all dwarvish towns at once (simillary as Fargoeth did).

Race:7. For a dwarven faction there are not many dwarf units. I like the vikingmythology link though.
History:6. There is a gap of about 650 years, I can't believe nothing interesting or important happend in that period. It's rather short to.
Creatures 8. Apart from the racial unity issue your creatures are quite nice. I especialy like the ants and the wind serpent.
Balance:6. I think the units have to much strong points and not enough weaknesses. On top of that I think it will be very hard to implement all these countings that are necesary for you skills.
Originality:7. It's nice but nothing that realy stands out of the crowd.

Overall: 34/50

Overall: 39
Comments: Interesting concept; merging humans and dwarves, and the town has an eclectic feel to it – dwarves, humans, flyers and rangers. A main problem, however, in the creature department is the explanation of special abilities. The ‘Nibelung xxxxx’ abilities are difficult to interpret, and the Air Raid attack seems somewhat strange (since only 1 Garuda Hawk / 12 makes an attack, which would seemingly result in less damage. On the whole, the special abilities are very creative, and you have managed to balance most of them. The racial special and the runes are interesting, and could be quite effective in-game. The concept of the ‘soul stone’ is enthralling, and the heroes you have created for the history are well done. The history it self could have been longer and more involved.
