Arch enemy: Academy

Enemies: Inferno, Necropolis, Dungeon

Allies: Slyvan

Neutral: Haven

Capitol: Svaltanheim

Location: A 300 foot igh polar ice cap, against the front of a 40,000 foot montain, by the name of Mt. Solmirea, named after the races founder, Solmyr. It is a mighty and highly fortified circular fortress, with a series of towers standing above the markets and blacksmiths, the central of which houses the great storm chamber library, where the Lapp Shaman Elders meet for council and consultation of the gods. Beside it to the left stands the vault of Valhalla, also known as the treasury, housing many a horde of gold and gems, as well as a 100 person guard of enchanting Valkyrie maidens.

History: The Acient Norsemen of the Artic civilization were not always hot tempered brutes trapped on a polar ice covered island thousands of miles away from the other civilizations practically freezing to death, but a vast and tropical empire, a peacefull people who lived in the section of the world known as the great steppe, the high country between the desert lands of the Academy Wizards and the Lush forests of the slyvan elves. All was peacefull and quiet until one day catastrophe struck. A scout had been sent out the previous day to search for a new mining facility and had come back half frozen and deeply shaken. He of course was taken directly to King Siegfried Edmund, and his report was thus: As he had been off scouting near the fringes of the mighty Academy desert, he had come across a series of pactches of frozen ground, wich naturally, he had found very odd. Using his spy glass he surveyed the area, and happened to spot a legion of academy wizards fleeing for their lives or so it seemed, from a vast and mighty army, but no army of man or beast, but of great vortexes of ice and cold, freezing all in their path. The scout had ran for his life, but it was not until the left side of his body was nearly frozen did he reach some cover from the trees. He had made it to the Fortress succesfully, but the storm was still fresh behind him.

As the King and his disciples looked up and out the stain glass mural of Odin and Freyja, they saw that the scouts words were not amiss, and that this was truly the end. The Swirling vortexes of frozen death leapt upon the terrified peoples of the once lush and beutiful land, freezing beast and man alike, untill the swarm of madness reached the ocean front, were tey all simultaneously ceased. Those of the people who had managed to reach their storm cellars were now popping their heads out with a brief sigh, but the moment of rest was brief and short lived. A great tremor shook the grond, once twice three times. Great cracks began to form along the borders of their frozen land, spliting straight through the earth and revealing the mighty ocean beneath them. With utter horror and a loss for words, the king and everyone else in the kingdom watched as their entire extense of kingdom and land split off from the rest and floated out into open water.

3 generations later: The Giants had survived the storm, as had some of the humans and trolls, shaman and Valkyrie. The great sleeping Nidhogg dragons had gone into hibernation, in the safety of their jem caves. And, through freezing winds and bitter cold, near impossibly, their civilization had survived.Thriving off the few alive animals, carribou and leopard alike, they grew and grew, off of the helpful front of the now ice covered Mt. Solmirea. The people of the capitol, Svartaneim, meaning Frozen city in old norse, once surrounded by a warm and luscious paradise, adapted, from wearing light cool clothing made from reeds and leaves, to heavy warm seal skin and bear fur. From warm and fertile, to cold and frozen. Their way of life was gone, and in its place had risen a new law, a new code: Thus was made, the way, of the Warrior.

79 A.S. (after storm) From the personal Journal of King Siegfried Edmund III:
Njorsa - Skaadi, the head of the Lapp shaman elders, has passed today. A grievous loss indeed, yet as is the way of Valhalla and Bifrost, some good came from his death. In fact, a bit more good than bad. For as he lay upon his bed of death, his eyes had fogged and flashed, and he had recited one last revelation before his journey to the nether world. The Dark Mael Storm, as it had come to be known, had been no storm at all. It, in fact, had been no force of nature in any way, but an act of evil and betrayal, from those thought to be allies. It was not that the Gods of Valhalla and Bifrost had abandoned or disowned us, and it was not the Gods of Valhalla and Bifrost, who had destroyed our glory, doused our flame of honour, and ruined our magnificent cities and libraries, but a powerful and evily driven work of magic, cast by our traitorous former friends and allies, the Academy Wizards. I now vake a vow, before the pages of this journal, before the disciples of my kingdom, before the very gods themselves, that the Wizards of the Easter Deserts will be sealed to their fates, once and for all!

The next day, in the very same journal:

Found among our passed Shaman's possessions was his diary of magic, an old bag of jelly beans, and a vial of a supposedly destructive potion, by name of "Wave Rider". Amongst the pages of the moldy old book my examiners recovered information even more spectacular than of the previous day. Njorsa - Skaddi, the genious and powerful Head Lapp Shaman who was now passed, had discovered a spell with the means of sending our civilization back to the others! Just imagine the look on the wizards chubby little faces when they see our berserkers slaughtering their families and burning down their buildings. Ha! A glorious day indeed that will be!

And sure enough, as the wise old mage had predicted, the remaining Lapp shamans were indeed able to conjure the mighty spell, and with the help of a few drops of "wave Rider", the now bloodthirsty legions of men and beasts were blown and shoved and surfed back to the threads of the other civilizations, and now that the Vikings, as they had named themselves, held possession of the knoledge of their true enemies, their thirst for blood was greater than ever. Soon, their families, their glory, their pride, and their power would be restored. Soon, they would have REVENGE!

So, how is it coming so far? Input anybody?

Thank you so so much khaelo.

Yes, this is my official emblem, The Shield of Solmyr.
Those on the shield are real viking symbols, from the dialect known as Futhark. The circular symbols outlining it represent the stars, while the Celestial Seperator, (the squigly divider) represents the moutain of the Midgard, (earth and the stalagtites of Nifleheim, the Underworld

It isn't bad,not bad at all,on the contrarery it is very good BUT I think their return is a bit of sudden. You tell that they had great catastrophy and only one hunderd years later they have vast army ready to destroy powerful academy kingdom.Somehow I doubt that.Well, anyway you may agree or not agree with me but it is how as I understand their history. One suggestion:Why wouldn't you wait more 400 years or so,that their forces fully recover, their anger to grow and THEN to attack. What do you think?

You always say what I am going to say if I have the oppotunity. Actually, I agree. This is not a bad town. The only thing I am going to add is that you should change the name of the post a bit.

In reference to rldragons first post, if it had been four hundred, years, the wise old lapp shaman would be long dead, and they would most likely have been too far out to sea. I dont know, its kinda still in production.
Thanks for the input though. The beastiary is almost done.b

Hmm, solmyr - was he the one with chain lightning at the start? If he was, I'd agree with you here.

Thanks for the complements. If you guys have any suggestions for this project they would be most welcome.

To Ulf: The Heroes Community upload center is just what it sounds. I found it through the "Create - a - town - contest thread in the Altar of Wishes.

And solmyr is the chain lightning dude. If ya like him, submit your vote in the threads: "Solmyr, Wiz of the World", started by me, or "Da bestest hero" by Vlaad.

Race:7

History:6(ýt explains the atmosphere of the castle but everything connected to one event suddenly changes it from tropic to artic is somewhat strange,ýt should be a more slow process)

Creatures:5(Its hard to imagine this line up in heroes, its too classic and the abilities are not so creative or fun to play either)

Balance:6(too many melle fighters no spell caster or shooter)

Originality:6

30/50
