Explanation

Hylozium is a word derived from Hylozoism, which is the theme for my town creation.

hy.lo.zo.ism ( P ) Pronunciation Key (hl-zzm)
n.

Colours of mainly Pink, Black and Brown

Brief Overview

Dollarians (Residents of Hylozium), in many ways are alike to primitive man. In the Myth of Hylozium, it was stated. Rafaellia created tools, and tools created more tools. Tools refers to Dollorians, who have a conscience and freewill. Dollorians exist mostly in the plane of thought and not entirely in the physical plane; resistant to magic due to its place of residence. At this point in time (61~200 YSD), Dollorians were unknown to the outer worlds, since nobody enters the Blight, and little is known of the new race.

Technology

Dollorians created manufacturing plants that reconstructed the materials into a basic configuration of humanoid, allowing it basic movements. Manufacturing plants were started by Urainza; an ex-human, to save more Dollarian's lives.

-=History=-

The Mythic Age

As the war of the Primordial Twins ended, people started to convert religions. Many ancient religions had many believers stolen, as they begin to worship the Dragon of Order or the Dragon of Chaos. When the Dragon of Chaos was finally sealed, and the Dragon of Order resided on the moon, many ancient religions had been denounced as pagan religions. As the church of the Order grew in power, the council decided to eliminate the 'pagan' religions. This resulted in most of the pagans being dead; and their text, relics and objects of worship disposed of or burnt.

Many relics, however did survive as not much effort was put into disposing of religions artifacts but more into the ending of pagan religions. These relics and books were thrown into the Great Hole, named by Angel Pyrealias and buried.

Note that many pagan religions consisted of having a feminine Goddess and priestesses were most besieged during the rounding up of pagans, in fact all religions with a Goddess were deemed as pagan religions. In addition, many of the Gods lost their names, as they were forgotten over time.

However, some of the smaller religions survived, but they did not gather enough in the same faith to survive the sands of time, so all of the ancient religions died out.

The Ancient Age

As the elemental dragons were becoming worshipped by more and more followers, both the Dragons of Order and Chaos faded into myths and became forgotten. Benefiting from the confusion, the Demons gained a significant influence. A small number of humans became heretics and isolated themselves from civilization.

Origins

38 YSD The myth of Blight

Kara-Amsha, a servant/cook from a camp of the Elven barracks serving General Alair, fell in love with Sar-Lucio, from the line of Sar-Elam, she met during the Wars of Fire.

40 YSD Birth of Rafaellia

Rafaellia, half human half elf, was born of Kara-Amsha and Sar-Lucio. Angering both the elves and humans, Rafaellia was branded as an abomination by both races. Kara-Amsha and Sar-Lucio was burnt to death. Rafaellia was banished from both the Elven Kingdom and the Falcon Empire. A newborn in the midst of what was called the Blight.

The Blight was actually the Great Hole, and there are numerous magical fields from the remnants of the artifacts.

The Gods that were forgotten felt pity for Rafaellia, and raised her.

48 YSD The Great Hunt

As many leave the Empire's territory to found the free cities of the East, many heretics were discovered. They were killed. Many of their artifacts, being resistant to fire, were thrown into the Blight, being the garbage dump of Eternia.

56 YSD The Blight Grows

Many more heretics and pagan religions were created and destroyed, their artifacts thrown into the Blight. The Blight grew and grew, becoming more magically intense.
61 YSD Awakening of Rafaellia Rafaellia grows up, gaining in knowledge and wisdom from the many Gods that raised her. She dug up the Great Hole and recovered many artifacts that made her powerful. Also, she had briefly reached the conscience of the Dragon of Order, learning that objects gain conscience by experiencing certain events, especially those which do with powerful emotional ties.

It dawned on her that most artifacts were dolls. (Dolls are the earliest known religions object in Eternia, most religious artifacts are made in the likeness of humans. Dolls are also the earliest known toy of mankind and elfkind alike.) Drawing from the power of the mechanical, she embalmed the remnants of emotion and being into the physical materials of humanoid artifacts and dolls, thus making the first Dollorians.

This matter of creation is called Hylozia.

The Myth of Creation recurs. Rafaellia made tools, tools that made more tools."

270 YSD Hylozium was composed

Songstress Xylania "discovered" architecture, her unique ability of farseering allowed her to visit faraway places, such as the Necropolis, Dungeon and Inferno. However her farsight didnt enable her to see the living, just the landscape. She built the Hylozium using the help of an Embodiment of Song, the Song of Creation. Rafaellia raised Xylania to the rank of Royal Songstress, and it became the central residence of the Blight.

365 YSD Hylozium discovered by the outside world

The Hylozium was discovered by the Insane Cartographer, Urainza, who risks his life to map the world. Urainza was recognized by the Dollarians as the First Stranger; which led to The Living Crusade, afterward named The Failure; led by the Falcon Emperor himself.

The first wave of The Living Crusade was totally eliminated by the Hylozium, and the Falcon Emperor, awed by this power, and suffering a great loss in military poweress since the 1st Eclipse of the Blood; decided to propose a truce. The truce became known as the Truce of Failure.

The Truce was accepted, and an uneasy peace fell upon both Dollaria and the Falcon Empire.

370 YSD The First Stranger became The Crazed

Urainza regretted mapping the Hylozium, and he joined the Hylozium to atone for his mistake of revealing the Hylozium to the outerworld. To prove his sincerity, he agreed to be the first living to be converted into a Dollarian.

He introduced many styles and poems from the outside world into the Hylozium, and also helped to manufacture the first War Machines. He was knighted as The Converted.

"I have never felt so alive, in my entire life"
              370 YSD, The Converted

560 YSD Rafaellia reaches immortality

Rafaellia, reaching the conscience of the Dragon of Order, attains immortality, but rejecting the offer of being the Eighth Dragon, she disappears into the Spiritual plane to initiate a new order of magic. She left with the words "Hylozium is the celebration of Life, in all forms; purest and most magical; oppose death, and its grips."

Before Rafaellia left, she left a duplicate copy of herself. Albeit having lesser power, it had a will that reflected her own, and is able to grant Hylozia into unliving matter.

630 YSD The Necromancers denounced as enemies

Grand Songstress Yalyxia denounced the Necromancers as enemies of Hylozium, for the Necromancers celebrated death, which is in direct conflict with the philosophy of Hylozium.

However, honoring the Truce of Failure, Hylozium should not interfere with outside relations, and should not attack any races; keeping a neutral policy.

965 YSD Truce Ended

A fanatical and rebellious squad from the Empire attacked the Hylozium; breaking the 600year old ceasefire; Hylozium initiates a plan to siege the Necropolis.

969 YSD 6th Eclipse - Queen Isabel's War

The Hylozium, gaining an advantage in the Chaos between Inferno and Haven, lauches a siege on the Necropolis.

Prologue

Attack Dolls are without contemplation, they abide to orders.

Lv 1: Attack Doll

Ability: Energy Burst (the Attack Doll will release a pulse of energy
[magic attack non elemental] that damages ALL units
(inclusive of own troops]. Damage of the spell is derived
from modified health per troop and stack amount.)

Upg: (1): Siege Doll
Ability: Has Attack Doll's abilities.

Comment: Attack dolls are a simplistic replication of a humanoid. They are NOT the main inhabitants of Hylozium. Hylozium has a low population, and Attack Dolls are made to fight for the people, Dollarian civilians are not endowed with the gift of battle.

Prologue

Pupsketteers are without contemplation, they abide to orders.

Lv 2: Pupsketteer (name derived from Musketeer and Puppet)

Ability: Ranged Unit.

Floating. Is immune to land mines.

Depression shot. Target may be Depressed hence reducing stack
HP by 20% and lowered defense, while making target more
aggressive, increasing damage by 5%. Chance of 20%.
A target that is Depressed has always at least negative
        morale, -3 Morale.
Melee Penalty. Suffers 30% reduction in damage and Depression
        shot will not be used.

Mechanical (is not affected by morale)

Upg: Veteran Pupsketteer

Ability: Has Pupsketteers abilities.

Shrapnel shot. A splash shot that does 70% damage and can be
activated at will. The Splash will affect own stacks and so do
effects. Maiming Shot. Targets may be stunned 3~30% chance.
Sharpshoot. Pupsketteer may shoot his Shrapnel shot anywhere
on map, like a fireball spell in HoMM3.

Comment: (Veteran) Pupsketteer has melee penalty and pretty variable damage. However, it has a high speed and good supporting status changing effects that make up its weakness. Although it has a rather high speed, it will most likely make no more than 2 shots before being attacked by a melee creature.

Prologue

xxx are without contemplation, they abide to orders.

Ability: Has Steel Golem's abilities.

Spiked Body (Reflects 10% of physical damage
        back to attacker)

Defensive (Gains +2 defense bonus on defending)

Comment: Steel Golems are made from metal parts found on several artefacts such as rusted swords and shields. They have high initiative due to the high circulation of magic about their bodies. Those magic which runs through their bodies are kept deep in the bodies of the Metal Golems, and wont be released, even upon death.

Prologue

I am.. but a musician,
Playing tunes of the wind.
Can you hear,
The blossoms
In the air?

Lv 4: Blade Melodist

        Hylozoic (Mechanical but affected by
        Positive/Negative Morale)

Upg: Edge Siren

Ability: Has Blade Melodists abilities.

        Flying

        Radius Attack

Comment: Assassin type. Blade Melodists/Edge Sirens are the backbone of the Dolls army; they work similar to Artillery support.
Blade Melodists and Edge Sirens are ostentatious. They like to don elaborate clothing.

Extra :The black crosses on the headgear of Blade Melodists/Edge Sirens  - the crosses signify unequalness; vertical is longer than horizontal, whilst the colour symobolizes the death of the unequalness, ending.

Prologue
Rejoice my brethens,

Upg: High Songstress
Ability: Has Songstresss abilities.
Can cast mass buff, draining all spell points.

Comment: From Hylozists highest ranking citizens, also representative, High Songstresses don very elaborate clothes and hairstyles.

Spells are most likely subject to change, which is at the discretion of HoMM5 developers.

Prologue

Lv 6: High Guard
Ability: Guardian (Retalliates limitlessly for Songstress)

Stalwart (Gains 20% more defence from hero
        skill)

Teleporting (Can teleport to target location,
        like Arch Devil)

        Hylozoic (Mechanical but affected by
        Positive/Negative Morale)

Upg: Grand Guard
Ability: Has High Guard's abilities.

Comment: High Guards are protectors of Songstresses in both times of Strife and War. Their bodies are a mixture of elements, usually made of grinded stone and clay. In their core is a powerful "heart" which regulates the flow of their bodies, enabling them to move properly. High Guards sometimes are also the Musicians that play for the Songstress. They are powerful combatants. High Guards will teleport to retalliate for Songstress, even against ranged attacks. Magic attacks do not apply.

Prologue
For I have longed to be freed from the stone which I was born into, I loved and was loved; for but my beloved could die for my freedom. But now that I have been released from my prison, my home, I long for the stone, now that my beloved is gone, and I have nowhere to go. My irony as bitter as the most venomous; for one shall have freedom, or love, or none of either.

Lv 7: Warden of the Stone
Ability: Large (Creature is 2by2 cells)

Radius Attack (Attacks 12cells around it)

Hylozoic (Mechanical but affected by Positive/Negative Morale)

Upg: Saint of the Stone
Ability: Has xxx's abilities.

        Ethereal (takes 50% physical damage)

Comment: Gaining highly powerful magic properties due to the intense emotional ties, the Warden of Stone uses its powerful body to inflict damage upon foes who stand its path. The Warden sometimes is sainted by the Remnant of Rafaellia herself, and is "excelled" to the spiritual plane partially, giving Saint of the Stone more powerful abilities.

Appearance: Saint of the Stone is similiar to Warden of the Stone, a rather immobile statuque androgenous male/female humanoid figure. It has both arm raised, holding a form of contraption with a gem or crystal (stone refers to this) that is their previous home. Usually naked, but shadowed by many aura, pose also should not be obscene. Eyes are shiny and have the same colour as the gem/crystal it is holding.

Way of Life

THIS THREAD CONTAINS:

WAY OF LIFE
STATS FOR CREATURES
HERO SAMPLES
TERRAIN TYPE

The Dollarians are a very artistic race. In truth, the creation of the Dollarians by the master priests is an art in itself. They view their physical body as an art piece, and clothing are worn to amplify their beauty.

Dollarians like pink, black and brown.

In times of peace, the Dollarians will indulge in philosophy, song and dance. Most Dollarians are very interested in the meaning of life, and the way life is lived.

The most well created dolls are those with voices. Normal dolls usually are masked, unable to express emotions visually or speak. Master priests can imbue voices into dolls, and the dolls made that way are called songstresses. Songstresses' songs exist on two planes, physical and spiritual.

Music, being the most ultimate form of art in Hylozium; also sometimes reflected on the physical plane, is the most perfective art to Dollarians. Many festivals and events that are held in Hylozium are not complete without a Grand or High Songstress.

Hylozium is a self sufficient system. It does not need an outside source (unless u consider the spiritual plane as one), and hence keeping to themselves, they celebrate life in a very unique manner. It is said that their lives are in union and are relative to each other, and hence Hylozium, itself, is the life they fit into.

Race:3(Sorry,ý cant place this town inside the game reality)
History: 6
Creatures:6(has variety but they all look like different dressed humans)
Balance: 6(some abilities overpowered
Originality:6(original but not so original within self, please read the originality note)

NOTEriginality:I see on the forum that originality is nearly equal to "never done before" in my book old creatures can be original too if presented right and fits the new scene.Okay doing new things is okay,ý would even given very high point in race if it was a "part" of the castle but whole castle of them? No hard feelings ý hope this is what ý think.
Never mind you still got great notes .Good luck

Hmm .. this has taken me by surprise. Such a radical deviation from the HoMM standard! This is an all or nothing faction, in terms of marketing a game. Either you toss it out completely for the risk of utter incompatibility in the eyes of the fans or you grab it with both hands for how original and well done it is! I find myself in the awkward situation of not knowing how to approach this faction.

Race: 10

A solid philosophical and ideologic foundation and a great description for your concept.

History: 6

The history is a bit far-fetched. The idea of a world's garbage dump is silly and most of all, you're overwriting the official (Ubi's) history of Ashan. There was nothing before the Primordial Dragons, the living races were creations of the elemental dragons, thus they couldn't have had any other religious beliefs apart for that of dragon worshipping.

Creatures: 8

With the race being so innovative, you had the advantage of having no constraints for the creature line-up but your own imagination. Well done!

Balance: 7

Hard to tell. Hero abilities are alright, some even balance weaker skills, creature stats and abilities are tweaked but their ensable seems a bit overpowered, as do the special buildings. Some aspects (like the songstress & guard duo) need viewing in action to really get the idea.

Originality: 10

Too bad 11 is not an option.

BONUS: +1 for covering every aspect needed to completely define a faction.

TOTAL: 42 (not 43 like I first misscalculated )

Hylozium
Race( 5+ 2)=7
History(3 + 2)=5
Creatures(4 +5 )=9
Balance(3 + 4)=7
Originality=8

This would be a bad-ass stupendous faction…  if it was in another game.
It just doesn’t have the HOMM “feel”
(plus two for effort)
Total Score= 38

How I graded these:
Race (Originality [1-5]+Compatibility with HOMM5 universe[1-5])
History (How interesting is it to me [1-5] +Compatibility with HOMM5 universe [1-5])
Creatures (Originality [1-5] +Internal Consistency [1-5])
Balance  (are the special skills inventive [1-5] + Does it have a variety of flyers, shooters, walkers, spell-casters [1-5]
Originality (all the originality scores added up and divided by two.  This means that creativity counts twice. [1-10])

Sorry it took long on your request i was busy yesterday but i am done here & with my first perfect score on one of them but one my lowest on another.

Good luck in your contest & lets start with Balance.

Balance-3 I dont really care for the Doppler duplicate skill.Theres reason why we get only a certain amount of skills per hero.
No need for other types, it could make it unbalance & the hero could be more powerful then usual.
The Att DOll Energy Burst can be unbalanced for a lv 1 creature.
I know there could be alot of lv 1's & the burst would be powerful.
Maybe the Puppeteers could be a higher lv.
Thier skills is pretty high for a lv2.
Alot of sructures for 1 town.
Over powerful creatures for 1 town like lv creatures ignoring 40% defense etc.

Creatures-7 Fun creatures.Alot of dolls but still fun creatures.

Race-8 The race is based on song, & dolls .
A good race.

EDIT: I must be tired i forgot to complete the History & the Originality on here.
Scores the same as i wrote before lol
I will edit Originality where it's supposed to go & history down here.

History-8 This is Heroes so history can go either way as long as it seems good.
Cool history & it cuts in the heroes 5 story which is crazy.

Originality-10 Pretty original in every way.Good job.

Your score is 36

Good luck in your contest.

Race: 7
Well defined and trully original.
A bit too unusual for HOMM5.
I also didn't get a full sense of dolls as (semi)living beings - as in how they live, what they feel, etc.

History: 7
Original. Some things are a bit far-fetched, like everyone throwing relics into one place.
I understand that the town is isolated, but there needs to be more involvement for it to blend with other races of the game.

Creatures: 7
Nice drawings and unique approach to unit creation.
The units are all humanoid, dolls can be made in image of other beings too.
The useability of several units is too unusual.

Balance: 6
Most units rely on additional tactics, not hand to hand combat, potentially rendering the town weak.
Some specials sound to be too specific to be useful.

Originality: 10
The 10 says it all.

Judge Rating: 37
Overall, a very unique and refined idea. Artistic and esthetic. But a bit too distant from "reality" of HOMM5.

BoogieMan: 42
