Regarding Guardian Angel, yes, that's the way it works now, in the release. I find it better than the angel actually fighting by himself. First because if you win, then you still troops, while the angel disappears anyway. And second because it is much more powerful, and scales with your army power.

More on Urgash's Call, now:
First, I've updated the H5 pages to 1.0 release version (creatures, skills, spells, heroes, ...). Go check them out!!

In particular, you will see that the Demon Lord now has access to Dark Magic/Dark Renewal instead of Light Magic/Twilight. Of course, Dead Man's Curse (Luck) now requires Dark Renewal instead of Twilight. Which means that Light Magic is no longer a prerequisite for Urgash' Call.

Funny thing about ultimates is that not all heroes can get them because they start with abilities that take up one of the required slots. Wait, that's not funny. Look at Findan for example, he starts with tactics, but you need battle frenzy, nature's wrath, and flaming arrows to get nature's luck and with tactics filling one of the attack slots, you can't get flaming arrows.

what a great point...

That last post was amazing...I completely agree with it.  There are some heroes that are completely incapable of attaining an "ultimate" skill.  I think that this is kind of rediculous, but on the flip side,

I've played a few single scenarios and it's rediculously hard to even come close to one of these skills.  I've come to the conclusion that some of these prerequisites are sooo absurd, that it's not even worth it to go for 1 of these skills.  The only one that is crucial and worth waiting is Urgash's call.

The other ultimate skills are not good enough to even waste your time.  Instant gating would be amazing but while playing this Inferno campaign, I can say that it is extremely tough to get.

I think that they are not good enough to be that hard to attain but would make the game interesting, if someone actually did go for it, get it, and bust out on multiplayer bashing skulls.

I've just noticed that I have to flip between heroesofmightandmagic.com and celestialheavens and my game in order to figure out what hero I need and what skills I have to pick ... sort of fun but i'm not sure...

Oh, I mean the site is great...and very helpful.  Especially the skill wheel on celestialheavens that dictates exactly what skills you need and in what order you are able to get them.

Thus far, the resources are plentiful and nothing further is needed.  I greatly appreciate the offer though.

So, for those of us without the full game yet (waits as patiently as possible for the 23rd), do heroes get 4 ability slots per skill as suggested? Or do they only get 3 and virtually half the heroes in the game are not able to get the "Ultimate Ability" of their class?

If it's only 3, why? Is there some advantage that makes the game better by only having 3 abilities per skill? I mean, on the side of having 4 abilities per skill virtually every hero in the game "could" achieve it's "Ultimate Ability", which would seem to be a good thing, not that you would with each hero or it could happen on your sized map, but, having the possiibility wold seem to be a good thing. On the side of having only 3, what is the argument? the rationaliztion? is there anything other than it's just an arbitrary number?

OK, it just got worse.

Correct me if I am wrong, but with only 3 ability slots per skill it is impossible for Knights to get Unstoppable Charge? They need Benediction, Expert Trainer and Retaliation Strike as prereqs(all abilities of the Training Skill), that takes up all 3 slots, so the 4th slot would be needed in order to gain Unstoppable Charge?

Benediction does not take a skill slot. It goes into "racial abilities" or smth like that, so there is in fact room for Unstoppable Charge.
(Wich btw sucks so much it's completly not worth it imo)

Sadly, there are still 3 ability slots in the release. I have no idea why they would not put 4 of them (apart for the very wrong reason that it wouldn't fit their interface width...). And I really hope they reconsider.

As for the Knight, I guess that's so obvious that it will work anyway. I don't where Unstoppable Charge would be placed however. Maybe on the last spot in Specialization and Racial.

I guess we'll make a page about that. At the moment though, the precise numbers have been changed from the demo, so I'll have to check them again.
The basic mechanics is that the hero kills a precise number of creatures, depending on his/her level and the creature tier. For example a level 1 hero would kill exactly 2 tier 1 creature, or 1 tier 2, or 0.8 tier 3... These formulas were then linear with hero level, but it seems they're not anylonger. Again, I'll have to investigate more.

Thanks for replying.
Does that mean attack value has nothing to do with it unlike H4?

For the hero damage, yes, hero attack does not change anything.

Regarding the Ultimate racial skill (Ultimate Avenger, ...), you can (have to) find the "Pendant of Mastery" artifact, when being Expert. It will give you Ultimate:

I think your should have a chance to pick the ultimate skill after your reach a certain level, or
There should at least be several combination of skills that let you get it, so you don't have to make the pre-defined heroes.

Warlock's Resistance (+2 defense ability)

Hey, I was browsing through multiple sources and they all say the same thing...

Warlock's Resistance requires the prerequisites of Protection and Power of Endurance. But since Power of Endurance requires Vitality, it's impossible to get Resistance since you will have:

Defense: Protection, Vitality, Power of Endurance

...so there's no place to put Resistance? Or is it just a one-time bonus that doesn't appear on the skill list...

EDIT:
One more thing. Does the effect of having two heroes with Recruitment stack in ONE TOWN? (have them both during the end of a week inside a town)

You're right about Resistance. I studied that today after a similar on Ubi Forums by KrisKay:

I have no idea atm on your second question. I'll have to try that!

I think counterstrike also controls how far you can train your peeps...

Peasants -> Archers -> Footmen -> Clerics -> Cavaliers

Since there are four arrows there, I would assume ultimate counterstrike lets you train Clerics into Cavaliers...
