BLOOD FACTION

• Associated colors: Green, red, and various colors of poisonous materials
• Worship: Guangsheng , the Dragon of Water
• Core philosophy: “One cannot be strong without sacrifice to your dragon only the strong survive.”
• Country / kingdom: Loguachin
• Capital city: Jersta, the Pool of the Leviathan
• Key symbols: The Water Symbol (Egyptian water cycle with the crocodile), and the Symbol of Death (Mayan god of death.)
• Description:
The lizardmen are dedicated to the Dragon of Water. Everything in their culture revolves around pleasing Guangsheng. Daily sacrifices occur to the Leviathan to please their dragon. It is honor to many to be sacrificed, but still many see it as a horror. The town is in a Aztec-Mayan style. In order to summon the Leviathan something must be sacrificed. The most important attribute of other civilizations to lizardmen is strength. Their belief is only the strong survive. This is viewed as evil by other cultures. Trolls represent something very special to lizardmen because they sacrifice and regenerate themselves. The lizardmen tend to side with evil factions because they represent the qualities that are needed to survive. With this sacrificing it has kept the numbers of the population down, and constant infighting among the prophets has led to a divided nation of many rulers. Other mortals are disgusting to them because of their weaknesses. If the demons or powerful mages prove their worth they will always align with them in righteousness over the weak.
BRIEF HISTORY
Origins
Asha, the Primordial Dragon of Order creates the world by giving it shape and purpose. She then gives birth to the Elemental Dragons who are destined to guide and rule her creation. The mortal races are created as “servants of the Dragon Gods”, and placed upon the earth. Each chooses its gift and its patron. The strong and devoted Lizardmen choose Guangsheng, the Dragon of Water.
Lizard Soldier (Upgrade: Lizard Sergeant)
The Lizard Soldiers are the infantry of the Blood faction. They have ranged attacks and are not penalized in melee. They are a very versatile all round unit. The upgrade gives the unit higher stats. (Just like lizardman in Heroes 3.)
Troll (Upgrade: Troll Chief)
Trolls are well respected in the Blood faction for their strength and lack of fear in battle. Trolls have the special ability to regenerate so they are very tough to take down. I guess that is why they lack the fear of most other units. The upgrade increases the unit's regeneration rate. (Similar to trolls in Heroes 4)
Basilisk (Upgrade: Greater Basilisk)
The Basilisk evolved a thick skin to protect themselves. They have a gaze that can instantly change foes to stone. (Similar to Heroes 3.)
Waspwort (Upgrade: Corrosive Waspwort)
Waspworts are carnivorous plants. They have mutated far from any normal plant. They hunt insects and other small prey in the swamps. The also posess a ranged attack that casts weakness on their opponents. When upgraded they add acid damage to their strike. (Similar to waspworts in Heroes 4.)
Lizard Shaman (Upgrade: Lizard Prophet)
Lizard Shamans are the spiritual leaders of the lizardmen. They use magic to entangle, curse, and demoralize their opponents in combat in various forms of nature and dark magic. They like to take live captives to be sacrificed to the Leviathan to please Guangsheng. The upgrade increases the amount of spells.
Wyvern (Upgrade: Wyvern Monarch)
Wyverns are the only flying units of the Blood faction. They are fast and once upgraded can poison their opponents. (After comments and more thinking about it. I have come to the conclusion wyverns are rather weak in Heroes 3 so their hit points should be raised considerably. At least they should have as many HP's and be as fast as the paladin in Heroes 5.)
Leviathan (Upgrade: Blessed Leviathan)
The Leviathan is the gift from Guangsheng to the lizardmen for their devotion. They are not naturally found in the swamps. They are usually found in deep waters but a magical gateway brings the leviathan to a pool in the town. The lizardmen must bring sacrifices to the pool in order to appease Guangsheng. The leviathan is twice the size of your average dragon and can attack with its bite and tail. When a leviathan attacks there is a chance it will devour its opponent. Once upgrade the blessed leviathan can use its tail to hit multiple opponents as well. It is very slow in combat but when it reaches your units beware. (I thought of the crocodile because past mythology as well as recent discoveries, but it could be something else to demonstrate the devouring ability. It was the best idea I had for something that can live in water and walk easily on land. It could just be some sort of water spirit thing, but I knew no way of displaying it graphically. )
The heroes of the Blood faction are called executioners.
Ability Sacrifice
After battle the executioners can use the dead (or living if they can be captured) to replenish(or regenerate) their forces or their magic. They can also use them in exchange for resources to create a leviathan. The efficiency of the points tallied after battle becomes better with more levels.(I was thinking something similar to the necromancy ability around sacrifing.)

Not very original (HoMM III) but nice non so ever.
History: 7
Very nice concept, don't forget the HoMM V story though.
Creatures: 8
Nice creatures, nice lined up and more then one lizard type creature.
Balance: 6
Balanced enough to me, though the leviathan isn't. Also the skills are rather weird to find good.
Original: 5
Not very original, most creatures got from HoMM III and IV.
Total Score: 31

Basic idea - i like (precisely why I used it in one of mine)
Creatures - are okay; I do not want plants in Heroes 5, Troll at level 2 seems too low, not too keen on Leviathan.
I must say I can really picture that town. Heroes really could do with something different like that. There is a limit to bringing in new ideas though.

Race:6,5. I like the idea of lizardpeople, but in my opinion this should be more reflected by the units. Two is not enough.
History:5. I like the sacrifice-based culture but the history is far to short.
Creatures:8,5. Apart from the unity issue, I like the creatures a lot. Especialy the Leviathan.
Balance:5. There is not much stated about this, so I can not realy give a high score for this.
Originalty: 7. Like I said I like the aztec-style of this town.
Overal: 32/50 6,4

A bunch of fanatic lizardmen living to please their god and thinking strength is law. Very good! The faction name is not a faction name.

Alright, so ... where is it?
Creatures: 7
You've made the trolls fit in well, but what on earth are waspworts doing there? You've integrated the leviathan very brightly, but the presece of basilisks and wyverns at hte side of lizardmen is unexplained. (I know they're lizards, but they're wild beasts to begin with. You need to justify their siding with the lizardmen)
Balance: 6
Underpowered, in the context of an ability-rich Heroes 5. Level 1 has no ability, regeneration at level 2 is useless, the only decent abilities are petrification and devour. The hero speciality might make up for it, but you've described it vaguely si I can't really tell how and when it works.
Originality: 8
Pluses for setting the race in an aztec environment, for the whole fervour of sacrifice thing, for the philosophy, for the troll and the leviathan
Minus for the faction name and the waspwort

Race( 5+5 )=10 this is an excellent idea, a bloodthirsty lizard society on a mesoamerican framework, unfortunately you
History(0 +0 )=0 didn’t write a history that meshed it with HOMM 5.
Creatures(4 +5 )=9 Very evocative, I’d love to have these dudes under my command on the battlefield as long as you
Balance(2 +5 )=7 tinkered around with the special skills.
Originality=6 history brought you down dude.
You really ought to get this into shape for the Nival contest.

Judge rating: 30 or lower.
This town needs more history, a more indepth description of their ways of life, relationship to other races, etc. Much is still not done.
