What isnt in the manual is an explanation why ANY Infernotroops are effected by firedamage o_O

They are BORN in hell you know

Actually, it's the number one reason never to upgrade your Gogs to Magogs, since their fireball area of effect damage will also damage your own units. Which kinda sucks, making it the only unit that's not worth upgrading. I usually *facepalm* myself when I accidently upgrade them or buy the upgraded version.

After not playing Homm in almsot a year I tried it, I tried inferno and I remembered reading your post. So I'm like "Ok np I'll just use upgraded efrets to do the job like shocktroops".

Guess what? THE DAMN EFRETS WHICH HAVE IMMUNITY TO FIRE GET HURT BY FIREBALLS FROM THESE DAMN MAGOGS!

Of course...because efreets are immun to fire MAGIC, not to fire itself. That's why they get hurt from fire breath of all those dragons aswell..

The stupid thing is that the game already has a concept of creatures not getting damaged by an area attack: the Lich's deathball. It only affects Living creatures, not Undead. I wonder why they simply didn't define a Demon/Non-Demon subcategory, where Demon type creatures are unaffected by the Gogs' Fireballs (if they're in its AoE, not if they're being targeted directly of course).

Well joking aside I think they messed up calling the attack by the same name as the spell and then not coding it as one!

Of course that would make fire immunity a much to easy spell to use against any magog army or unit in the field so it would not be a good solution. But maybe they should've named it something else.

From a programming perspective, my guess is the only similarity between fireball and the magog fireball is the animation and AoE area, not including the position the missile itself landed to avoid double damage. Or maybe there's no missile damage at all..

Either they use the same spell, but then damage depends on spell power, and I don't think that's a headache they wanted.

On the other hand, they make a separate attack, but if they make it fire damage, a lot of creatures will be immune. If they only wants demons to be immune, they may have to create a separate class of demons only for that. They could in principle also have made alignment immunities (so creatures aligned with Inferno would be immune), but I don't think it's good practice to combine different parts of the game like that.

I think the Lich's attack is two part, one is the missile damage, second is the cloud which affects everything in the area except for the point where the missile landed. At least that's how I imagine they made undeads immune to the cloud, but not to the actual missile.

If you want inferno troops immune to magogs, install era + sod mod, add script from the dragons slaughter, voila. You get 100% sod game-play, but with this immunity.

yeah, i'm necroing this thread, because i just found something out. it's a advanced map editor trick, so it probably isn't meant to go here, but i'm not going to start another thread just to point this out.

apparently, when you make two entry points for an object(say, a Star Axis), you can visit the object twice, at each of the entry points. doesn't crash the game like i thought it would. found this out after hovering over an object and it saying that i had visited it, but at the other entry point, it said i hadn't. so, just a heads up.

btw, this means that you can make multiple entry points for the same object, and visit it as many times as you have entry points attributed to it(of course ).

You can enter a 2 way monolit or a subterranean gate without fighting the guards using fly. Set the hero speed to slowest, aim at something behind the monolit/gate with the path going over your target, stop the hero exactly when you reach your target. Now you stand next to the guard without fighting them and with pressing space you can enter the monolit/gate.

I reckon you can do the same with any point of interest. Gotta love bugs.

Can you use this in a multiplayer game where you have to fight at least a stack of guards to choose the nagas on the other side instead of the Archangels on this side? Or would it be considered cheating?

Isn't fly usually banned anyway? Btw. is it in heroes 3 you can target an item in the shadowed area (this item is guarded, but the guards do not appear as long as the area is shadowed), fly towards the item and once you grab it, engage in combat, because when you fly, unlike when you ride, your character doesn't automatically stop because there's a guard.

Yes it can be used in multiplayer games.

On HW site, which is the leading H3 tournament in the world, they allow fly.

The only small issue Blood is that the game is likely to be over once you have it. Unless you push your magi guild and place all eggs in one basket hoping it will be your lucky day.

Guess you don't watch that many streams... Most of the times Fly, DD and TP came from tomes u find in dragon utopias but almost all games end up with at least one of the players knowing the important traveling spells.
If I'm playing, on the other hand, I hardly find them before final battle because I usually don't have enouch power to attack topes first month.

Question

Hi guys. Maybe somebody know the general rule of splitting neutral troops?

I mean: How we can anticipate the number of monsters stack before a battle?

I was trying to understand it. I did a few tests and noted a results. But finally it is too randomly for me. I'm sure the most important matter are proportions of monsters life points and if we have better army than computer then a neutral monsters will be in small number of stacks. But it is obvious.

If someone gave earlier answer for my question - could you direct me there?

Greetings

Try searching in "tribute to strategies"

Tribute to strategies

Edit: found it in the middle of the file, searching for "stacks" is helpful

It is funny. I browsed Tribute to strategists earlier but I must skip this section.

Thank you very much.

The problem with the Heroescommunity forums is that it is hard to find information unless you manage to pinpoint it to a certain page.

If you get a "tactics" link then you might wonder what tactic it is. Is it for picking town? Unit use? Battle tactics? Map tactic? Spell tactics? There are a lot of good tips but they are often clumped up in a thread with over 50 pages.
