gargoyles are useless, golems cannot be used ofensively, genies have a severe lack of hit points. all the other units are really great.
as a whole, the town is too slow. nagas have only 7, while similar creatures have 9 (champions, dread knights, war unicorns, magic elementals). titans are great but too slow against most of the other level 7 creatures. no problems with the mages. crappy heroes. neela is my choice, or perhaps fafner.

the only thing gargoyles are good for, is blocking enemy shooters. have you ever done considerable damage with them?

They don't do good damage, but their attack, defense, speed, HP and weekly growth are all above average, plus they fly. Their real downside is that they cannot be resurrected, and they have no special. They're really useful in early game though.
Besides, it's not like blocking enemy shooters is a bad habit to have, especially not for Tower.

1-hex flyers can be very usefull, especially in the beginning of the game. You can use them for distraction. Hard to do with golems...

gargoyles are affected by morale, but they cannot be resurrected. funny, eh? if i had to choose a bonus of 100 upgraded level two units, gargoyles would be my last choice. seems like i plain don't like'em.

I could argue on that... Dread Knight with its death blow attack is rated the best creature on HOMMs homepage.

Naga Queen Health: 110 Attack: 16 Shots: none Movement: ground
1600 gold (2) Hex size: 2 Defence: 13 Dmg: 30 Spd: 7 (extra swift)
Special: no enemy retaliation.
Extra speed and extra 50% of that constant damage are worth the extra 500 gold that make naga queen the most expensive in level 6.

Dread Knight Health: 120 Attack: 18 Shots: none Movement: ground
1500 gold (2) Hex Size: 2 Defense: 18 Dmg: 15-30 Spd: 9 (ultra swift)
Special: 20% chance to curse enemy ; 20% chance to do double damage.
I think it's the best lvl6 unit in the game! Double damage ability puts Dread Knights above Naga Queens.

Honestly, I don't believe the game developers have diven into all the possible game tactics as much as a good bunch of people here have. Remember that we are talking about the people who made an AI that makes your towers attack the 200 familiars rather than the 150 Magogs.

Damage calculation includes several factors. Be it attack/defense ratio between attacking unit and attacked unit, attack skill of attacking hero, defense skill of defending hero, offense skill, armorer skill, spells...etc.. All these factors included, u get your "dealed" damage (complete damage). Basic damage does not include all of these factors.

Ok, but if the basic damage is doubled, then damage including attack of unit and attack of hero should be doubled too (ad= attack od dread knights, ah = attack of hero, du = total defense of attacked unit):
(2*dam)*((ad+ah-du)*0,05+1) = 2* (dam*((ad+ah-du)*0,05+1))
of course in case that ad+ah>du
Or have I missed something?

Yes, this is true.
Only thing I wanted to state is, the "modified" damage the dreads finally deal is not just doubled when the death blow happens, only the basic. And the basic damage of the dreads is lower than the basic damage of the queens due to the damage ratio. Dreads will deal 10% more damage coz of higher attack skill (18->16), which means, they deal 22,5 (15-30) +10% = about 25 damage, while the queens deal 30.

Very easy math would look like that:

- Dreadknights: 20% chance for deathblow means 1 out of 5 hits.
4 hits with 25 damage + 1 hit with 50. Summary = 150.

- Queens:
5 hits with 30 damage = 150 damage.

But no retail on queens...

Does it mean that dread knights' death blow is more effective vrs level 7-s and heroes with high defense since the final damage will be reduced, but the base damage will always be the same?
